  1. I go mouse, spot remover, mouse. But then again I usually am fishing the gin clear dam area......except for this year apparently. Might have to break out the old Mann's Hank Parker Classic in firetiger.
  2. Don't you have a pair of Ranger board shorts? Put the power poles down and take a dip.
  3. While that is somewhat true.......no lake in MO or perhaps the country has as many 30'+ performance cigar boats with more horse power than a NASCAR event thrashing the water from May til October as LOZ. In my 20's I went there for party time with buddies....slowing down in my 30's I wouldn't dare go back there for peace and tranquility fishing time. Table Rock gets rocking and rolling for sure.....but nothing like LOZ. Not knocking the LOZ crowd and to each their own....but not for me.
  4. Hahaha. I think he was joking in the fact that he is catching them on a "early winter pattern" as far as depth and baits are concerned. But then again maybe he is an aborigine and the 100 degree heat here in southern MO is chilly compared to the 150 in the outback. Someone get this guy a Foster's!
  5. Brush Hog....a bait I'm sure he will remember. Did a tear well up in your eye because it was a passage into fishing manhood so to speak with the baitcaster or because he went rogue on papa and didn't want to use the fairy wand and ned anymore???
  6. If you like that head over to BBC (bass boat central) and you would think you are at a Disney World Amusement Park then.
  7. There is a fair chance I have one of these by October when topwater gets going again. What can I say I'm a sucker. Me when I catch a glimpse of a new bait: And my response when someone see's me with said bait after I told them I wasn't going to buy any:
  8. A jigging spoon is typically made of lead and is somewhat aerodynamic as it is meant to get down deep to depth somewhat quickly and then "jigged" up and down to elicit a bite. A flutter spoon is typically made of stainless steel or brass and has a cupped or concave shape to it that gives that "flutter" when sinking in the water. It has that wobble, side to side or even glide to it that jigging spoons do not usually and just drop somewhat haphazardly with little lateral movement like the flutter spoons do. Hope that helps. A couple of examples of jigging spoons for reference: Here are more typically "flutter" style spoons:
  9. First off I would like to apologize for the complete hijack of this post. Didn't mean to derail it and starting talking college sports and whatnot. But I would like to say that I wish the NCAA would require more than just one year of CBB under a kids belt before he can be a lottery pick in the NBA. It's a touchy subject as there are different rules and requirements from sport to sport and where do you draw the line? CBB is one year, college football is 3 years and baseball is 0 years and can be drafted after their senior year of high school. Not sure how the NCAA or NFL, NBA and MLB arrived at these decisions but I'm sure they are money driven like everything else. The one and done's really do suck and make it harder for the fans to really emotionally invest in a team with guys you have watched grow and develop in 3 or 4 years and bond as a team. Those types of teams are few and far between and fleeting with each and every year going forward.
  10. I will agree with everything you said there other than "settling" for Odom. He was getting offers from some very respectable D1 schools and we are lucky to have landed/retained him. I think it will prove to be a very good decision when it's said and done. It is in no way the same as the "Kim Anderson" deal which was hopeless from the outset. Nice guy, old school, MIZZOU old guard, booster and crony alum favorite....old stale white guy that is completely overwhelmed by the job. After the repeated violations and under handed dealings from past coaches (Snyder, HAITH) and shady players (Ricky Clemons, Kalen Grimes, Michael Dixon, too many to list!) we went the other direction and tried to clean up the program....I get it......but it just isn't going to work with Kimmy at the helm. It's a shame, nice guy, good intentions...but a bad fit and I would bet this is his last year coaching the Tigers in 2016.
  11. While things look bleak for MU football for this year and maybe a few subsequent years.....NO WAY will it be even CLOSE to KU football. They were 0-12 last year and have 7 wins combined the 4 seasons for cripes sake. It's actually sad how far the Jayhawks have fallen since Mangino had them at not only a respectable team but top 25. I was at the Border War @ Arrowhead in 2007 (as well as many more) when it was #2 vs #3 and that was just the best atmosphere I think I have even been too at a sporting event. Just awesome. Wish they would bring back the KU vs MU rivalry games as a non-con game (both football and basketball). The KU football program is now borderline not even D1 worthy at this point. A lot of D2 schools would crush them. That isn't going to be the case with MU. Barry Odom appears to be a VERY good coach and similar to Pinkel in that he is a players coach. Players like playing for him. I think he will turn the mess and program around quicker than you might imagine. Our basketball program is basically the mirror image of KU football. Just in shambles and hard to see any light at the tunnel....which is depressing. So I do sympathize with KU football fans in that regard. But at least Self and the boys are still a CBB powerhouse. It's all in good fun and ribbing in the end. No ill will intended.
  12. Miissouri freshman enrollment is down 25% since that little farce they called concerned student 1950 took place. The way that entire situation was handled was beyond pathetic. I don't blame anyone one bit for not even considering MU as a school to attend. I don't have any college aged kids but if I did I would more than likely tell them MU isn't the place to be right now. Total dumpster fire. It's a sad state of affairs being a MIZZOU Alum these days. Gonna be a long time before we pull ourselves out of this hole both academically and athletically. I saw Vegas only has my Tigers winning 4 games this year......gonna be a long season. But I guess things could be worse....I could be a Jayhawk fan.
  13. Big whoop. KU has been embezzling TENS OF MILLIONS in actually charging for KU football tickets since 2009. I am no lawyer but I believe that is fraud as that is not a football team they are running out these days on the gridiron. Poor KU season ticket holders/plaintiffs.
  14. Awesome report, post and pics. I really like the one of your cousin Kristina with the "in your face" expression in that one pic with the nice LM.
  15. Likely the latter. They've been getting run over for the last 5+ years with regularity.
  16. Looks like that fellow also made a poor choice in hat/team selection also!
  17. I have both Falcon Rods and St. Croix. Both build a fine rod and you're really splitting hairs between the two in my opinion. I think the overall build of St. Croix is a little better with a nicer fit and finish but I think Falcons fish better. It all comes down to what you are going to be using it for like Champ said and getting one in your hands to feel what YOU like better. Can't go wrong with either in the end.
  18. If you wanted to get nutty prolly could take a tiny torpedo, take off the rear prop and put a plopper tail on it. Would have to extend the shaft out the back hook hanger and add bead spacer but should work. Sounds like maybe a winter project, the tiny torplopper.
  19. I thought that was you antagonizing my fish and pestering my pets around our little green dock. As you can tell I am pretty good with my silenced pellet gun. Just when you think you have a fish....bam.....your line mysteriously sheers at the reel. You call that a bad spot in the line.....I call it skill and knowing Table Rock windage at 500 yards.
  20. Yep. I tell people this all the time about driving cars.....I'm not worried about me....I'm worried what the other guy is doing. You can be the best driver in the world and all it takes is one idiot not paying attention, texting or doing something they shouldn't while operating a vehicle (car, boat, excavator, etc) to hurt themselves AND YOU. If you have family it is selfish of you not to wear a life jacket or take preventative measures to see you get home at the end of the trip. The not wearing a seat belt is just flat stupid. I don't wear my PFD while fishing from the front deck but if the big motor is on I have it on.
  21. NEVER good to hear this. Another reminder to WEAR YOUR PFD's! Even more so on busy holiday weekends. Takes 10 seconds to throw on a life jacket, takes even less time to make a mistake and pay with your life.
  22. I'm not a big spender when it comes to spinning gear either. I had a Quantum Energy from the mid 90's that served me for about 15 years. When it finally kicked the bucket I went to the Pflueger Supreme MGX paired on a Falcon Cara and its a dream setup thus far. I actually just bought a cheapy around the house, pond, small lake, creek, river, etc rod for light baits and some light nedding. Dave recommended I take a look at the Daiwa Revros as a budget reel and also the 7" UL Lews SG spinning rod for like $50. I bought the combo online from Gander Mountain which had a $20 off $100 sale going last week with free ship. For $80 bucks its gonna be hard to beat that combo. I went into Gander Mountain after I had already purchased online just to feel the Revros and it felt solid and has some of the mid to upper end Daiwa features that trickles down to the lower models as they update them over time (air rotor, drilled spools, etc). I felt as though the Revros was on par with the $80-$100 Shimano stuff. I can't speak as to it's performance or durability yet obviously but first impressions is that it is a nice economy reel. Probably better than the Pflueger President at the same price point. I know that I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Daiwa gear. I have Lews, Shimano, BPS and other brand reels......I find myself reaching for combos that have the Daiwa stuff attached to it.
  23. I'm with bass blind on this one. Water is like 70 degrees which is cool but depending on the value of the setup I am stripping down and diving in at just 10 feet. I'm not proud.
  24. Looking for investors??? This is too cool.
  25. I'm thinking lovers quarrel.
