  1. I checked out Moonshine and people are able to launch there off the parking lot. Also had plenty of parking when I was there on Friday. The courtesy dock ramp is flooded and you have to wade out to the walkway on it. Saw one guy do it launching some jetskis and it got up to his chest before he got to the dock platform. I ended up just picking them up at State Park. Visitors are parking in the grass right at the entrance and then being shuttled down in a golf cart to the marina. It all worked out.
  2. That's a bummer. Sorry to hear that! Glad I have 5 more of them. Three of which are custom painted by Mr. Hughes. But only one in the color that shalt not be named.
  3. I've done well on the Mikey. Only complaint is that it cast like crap and helicopters most times.
  4. Thanks guys! High water sure is a pain in the butt for just about everything lake related. Except for Quill who is probably currently running his picnic table pattern and loving it.
  5. It wasn't my idea. Saw it A LONG TIME AGO on another fishing forum. It's light years better than using an old sawed off rod and big round reel that lots of guys use. Or winding the stupid thing by hand around a board (or pick your random cylindrical object). It's saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars dollars by now. I've said it before but it also had made me a better angler due to the fact that I have almost no fear of throwing expensive baits into areas I know I am likely to get hung up. Plenty of spots like that in TR with all the trees, cables, etc. I have about a 90% or better success rate of getting it back with the retriever.
  6. In-Laws are coming down and staying in Stonebridge/Ledgestone which isn't far from State Park area. Wanted to pick them up in the pontoon coming from across the lake in Beardsley. Is there anywhere around there to park/use a dock so I can load them up? Not sure with the lake level what docks may be available or where they might park their vehicle while we play on the 'toon for the day. Was thinking Moonshine ramp might work. State Park Parking lot might be flooded?
  7. https://www.lews.com/accessories/retriever Add the above to this: https://www.harborfreight.com/24-ft-retractable-dog-leash-91836.html?cid=paid_google|||91836&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&gclid=CjwKCAjwztL2BRATEiwAvnALctXYYqbt3rBTcDsaITQ1xUDd8yMqfZu29S-aBl2oX70LOGxUzGdeehoCCqwQAvD_BwE Easily stowed. Easily deployed. Rod in one hand and retriever in the other for a one man operation. Works great. Just make sure you epoxy the leash latch permanently shut so it will never open and the lose the retriever. Mine is going on 15+ years.
  8. Jerkbait? Weighted t-rigged fluke?
  9. One Vernon Apple spoils the bunch.
  10. See. Proof. God hates a Jayhawker.

  12. I believe that's the "iPhone Effect".
  13. If you have AR plates and a flatbed pickup you can take both spots in front of the ramp.
  14. Double points for also having the tail conceal the cranks true identity and color. Well done.
  15. Don't sleep on their stuffed Iowa Thick Cut Pork Chops.
  16. It's meat until you get a hold of it. Then it magically turns into shoe leather.
  17. One could say you're the Yogi Berra of the Ozarks.
  18. She also banned the sale/purchase of seeds for growing your own plants and vegetables. They were deemed "non-essential" by her and her cohorts. They posed a risk due to the fact that a person buying them has contact with sales associates for a duration of time. When is the last time anyone needed help buying a pack of seeds off the cardboard displays at Home Depot, etc.? She is just full of wonderful ideas.
  19. True. But in this scenario that is THE BEST possible outcome given what had just transpired.
  20. Why not? Looks simple enough.
  21. I know, right? Unbelievable. Guy is going to be telling that story about every time he launches a boat.
  22. Which one of you guys from Oklahoma is this? Boat launching ability level: EXPERT. Heck, LEGENDARY.
  23. Was finally able to get around to watching this stream. Lotta good info given out by Mike. I may need to contact him though and let him know that next time he needs to blur out the background in his videos. Or face infringement fines for filming in a certain unnamed creek location without proper permits. Interesting about what he said about not fishing the A-Rig and wouldn't fish any tournament where they are allowed. Him and Champ must be cut from the same cloth. Also his blasphemous remarks about the wiggle wart were surprising. But I guess that shows how much confidence he has in his Rock Crawler lineup. Good enough for him good enough for me.
  24. If you check the chart by TPW I posted in both cases those fish are within "range" on their scale. Of course there are going to be outliers but as an aggregate it will give you a relatively accurate weight if you only have length without the girth. Also, as mentioned time of year caught will have influence as well. Fish are obviously going to be heaviest from Feb thru around May (depending on region). So I'd error on the high side of the weight during those times. There are also going to be anomaly fish that are going to be heavier or lighter than the norm for their length. But with large sample sizes that will even out to give what you see in that chart. Not perfect but a reasonable gauge. I once caught a 23 inch bass in an "unnamed" branch of TR that had the tail almost completely beaten off, missing one eye and some type of old wound to the gut. It probably would have been around 25" with a full tail. It probably weighed 3lb's it was so skinny and pathetic. Caught in late March in the late 90's on a plum twin tail hula grub on a Akie stand-up weedless jighead. Was like reeling in a dish rag. Zero fight. Grandfather dubbed thee "One Eyed Jack" and said I must have made the cast to his good eye side.
  25. Without the true girth and length measurement it's hard to be sure the rough weight of it. But according to Texas Parks and Wildlife (who probably have more data/samples collected than anyone in the world on bass management/growth statistics) a bass typically doesn't hit double digits until it breaks 25 1/4" in length. So if this fish was indeed 23" that puts it in the 7-8lb range. Add in the time of year now where they are going to be at their heaviest, an 8 is probably a fair guess. Regardless it's a beaut and don't see many bigger than that fine TR specimen. I'd be super proud of it that's for sure.
