  1. Ouch. Maybe if the boat wasn't free he would be more careful. Hmmm...On second thought probably not, he is a little intense.
  2. Wow. Thanks for the info, that's really sad to find out. Being an Ohio native when I was a kid I saw first-hand how bad the lake was back then. I had no idea the lake was suffering again. From reading the article there are three problems occurring that are contributing factors, phosphates, early warming trends, and zebra mussels. The only one easily controllable being the farming run-off of the fertilizer phosphates. I always had dreams of doing a trip to Lake Erie for smallmouth fishing, guess I missed my opportunity.
  3. Interesting posts. Gotta say it seems like some things have improved and some things have gotten worse. I do think we are better off now with society being more conscientious about the environment. Water quality is much better overall than it was back in the 50s & 60s. The Great Lakes were a mess back then (lake erie) and some rivers would not even support fish. Heck, back in those days no one "recycled" the fish they caught.

    Big News!

Well done and welcome to a healthier lifestyle. One year, that's really great.
  5. Great post. Sadly I'm old enough to remember most of those things!

    This Weekend?

Nice fish. I need to get out!!!!
  7. Ha. I like that analogy. Keep the minions happy.
  8. Nice. I think I may have to tie a few of these.
  9. Oh my, definitely not for me. When I even see anybody on the stream I feel like it is too close. I will take the trophy area during the week in Winter anytime.

    Just A Cat

Sorry for your loss. But, I can't believe your vet threw the cat out the window!
  11. Oh yeah, this precipitation is great. Lets hope it continues into the spring and summer. We're due for a year with normal water levels.
  12. Just looked up some information about the American White Pelican. They have a wingspan from 8-10 feet! Dang, that's a big bird.
  13. Nice. I'm having serious cabin fever. Need to get out.
  14. Funny. I needed a good laugh. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Yep. Seems like the biggest fish and highest number days are when people are alone. My personal best LM came on a day by myself, a honest 10lb fish. No camera, no witness, but a great memory.
  16. I generally prefer fishing with someone else. But that person needs to be hardcore and fish the way I do, all day and hard at it, fishing stops when I can't see to tie anymore! So, that makes it hard to find someone to fish with that can keep up the same intensity. I don't mind fishing alone, at times it's really nice to cover the water all to yourself and set your own pace. Just seems a little more fun when you have someone to share the day with and the ride home. Seems like fishing alone is more of a wading/fly fishing thing, even when your with someone your generally out of sight with them most of the day.
  17. Any amber ale not from a big brewery, fat tire is a good go to, and it comes in cans. Very fond of Guiness Draught for the winter months. Anyone home brew out there?
  18. Yep. SLU looks great and the Mizzou game had a fantastic ending
  19. Hmmm...While I understand the desire to use a casting rod for better casting control I have to think tossing 1/8 oz could be a little light for this setup, even if you could find (or build) a rod to do it. Seems to me that light of a bait would not turn the spool very effectively and the distance may be somewhat limited.
  20. Nice. Well done.
  21. Ouch, calling someone a DB is kinda harsh. You have to admit it's been a lively topic, makes the day go by at work for me. I say keep up the banter and new topics like this, they're fun to watch. Now if you want to throw rocks at JoeD you should start a topic called "Your Writing Will Not Win A Pulitzer". ;^)
  22. Went early last week and didn't have too much luck. A few fish in the low 20's but nothing significant. The best action was up in the state park area mostly, a few fish came from the top riffle at Cane island. Made one float all the way to Cotter but nothing but Rainbows past Cane Island. In all our past years we would catch nice fish all the way down to Cotter. I think the spawn was still going strong so the fish had not migrated down river yet. Who knows though, coulda been just a bad year for us. Had a lot of fun though.
  23. I can't believe the whole Te'o thing is even newsworthy.
  24. I agree that there should be a limit to what to expect from a warranty. 2 years is a long time, but $25 is also a lot to spend on a lure. My thought is if it doesn't show any obvious signs of abuse and looks new'ish send it back. We're not talking about a cheapo lure, this is high dollar stuff, for that expense I expect some good customer service. Plus, it never hurts to ask. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  25. I'm surprised no one has mentioned sending it back to the manufacturer. If it is not visibly damaged or beat up they may replace it. I have sent a few Spros back and the company replaced them no charge. There's no warranty expressly given but it is worth a try. Send megabass an email and see what they say. Here is what their website says about warranty on their products: MEGABASS® PRODUCTS Although the Megabass USA warranty applies only to Megabass® rods as specified above, if you experience defect-related damage to any Megabass® product, please feel free to contact us. While there is no program in place to provide replacements or repairs of any kind, we encourage you to mail us any products with suspected defects for examination and reference to the Production Department in Japan. Megabass® products are manufactured with strict quality controls, and designs are constantly under scrutiny to locate areas of potential improvement. Megabass USA is committed to making sure that Megabass offers the US and Canada the best products possible, and towards that end, we welcome any and all constructive input from you, our dedicated anglers.
