Puzzle solved. The gentlemen with his back to the camera is Jimmy Putmann. I heard so many great things about him, but never got to meet him. Jimmy took the photo of Rick that we used on his book. "Mark Gray, Jimmy Putman, and I had a Saturday morning ritual that began at 4 a.m. Mark would roll into the parking area, usually at 4:00. He always parked in the same spot for good luck. I would be sleeping in my van after having night fished until 3 a.m. Mark would then knock on the window of the van and say, “Rick, it’s Mark. Let’s have some coffee.” As I crawled out of the van, Mark would ask, “You got coffee?” He knew full well I always travelled with a thermos full of java. We would then sit down at the Pavilion and drink one cup. As soon as that cup was downed, Mark would head to the creek, and I would go back to the van to continue my nap. Between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Jimmy would roll into the parking area. He would knock on my window and say, “Let’s go find Mark.” We lost Jimmy in 2006."

@fshndougThat's how I make it through every day. One breath and loving memories at a time ❤️

Our fishing community has lost a loved one. @trythisonemv lost his father today. Steve and Alex are part of my family. But the thing I admire most about Steve, besides being a hard worker, was that he took his kids fishing every chance he got! I'm proud of that! And everyone of his children enjoy fishing to this day. RIP Steve. Tell Laker hi for me when you get there.

Bass pro fly rod combo
laker67 replied to retired chem teacher's topic in General Angling Discussion
One of the best fly fishermen I know often bought BPS White River gear and whined if he had to pay more than about $89 for a rod. -
I was a decent crapper fisher, but he never failed to one up me Even when I was using minnows, he would outfish me with a jig. Miss you, Honey!

I've jumped in the lake in November. But only when a hot tub was waiting for me to get out Sandy

I'm glad I read this post. It's heartwarming to come across my hubby's old threads. Thanks, Brian! Sandy

Laker and I live trapped so many armadillos that the city told us to quit calling them to pick them up, and to just shoot them. The problem is you can't discharge any type of projectile in the city limits. Word must have gotten out. After about 6 or 7, they just stopped coming.

Laker and I were "plinkers" in our early married years. I wish I could say we never shot anything we didn't eat. One day we were at a dump practicing on cans. I caught something move out of the corner of my eye, thinking it was a rat. I told Laker to "shoot it". My deadeye husband responded, and regretably killed a groundhog. Never again did we shoot anything we didn't eat. Oh wait. There was a house sparrow killing my bluebird babies... In the words of Tom Selleck, "that wasn't shooting, that was killing."

Thank you for being kind enough to share Rick's book. It would make him happy. Btw, week 3 post-op on my new knee. Hopefully it will be a game changer for me next fall. Was the surgery a good call? I'm somewhere between "want to slit my throat" and "I can see the light at the end of the tunnel". Started driving yesterday. Freedom!!! Sandy

Prayers continue! Hope you're back on your feet (and the creek) soon!! Sandy -
@Foghorn Don't know if we ever had any leak right out of the box, but definitely in the first couple trips. Won't say any names, but it starts and ends with "s".
-
@foghorn Really? When was the last fishing trip you had a 2-dink day!!!!!
-
If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any! I've done nothing but break line, lose flies, and wear my shoulder out. A few dinks is all I have to show for it. Hooked one nice one and the fly pulled out this morning. I'm not giving up, but really discouraged.

@Daryk Campbell Sr The odds are high for new drivers having an accident, usually during the first year. When my sons had their first, I was elated that nobody hurt. One was a rollover, the other was t-boned. Your son is hurting, I'm sure, just because he was driving. Be thankful his first accident didn't result in "the call." My sister lives in Raintree Estates in that area. I know the perils of that road well.
