  1. I'm so sorry I'm late seeing this! Praying the Great Physician speeds your recovery!
  2. Dang, Phil. I promised I would go. This is not good news for me!
  3. Y'all are bringing back some sweet memories! The old country store at Redbird was a favorite place to go. I still remember the smells, and the last time I was down that way, the store was just like they left it when they closed the doors. My grandparents farm was just a couple miles away.
  4. I had it yesterday too. I just closed the program and reopened it. All was well.
  5. Seaguar is 13.62 for a 200 yd. spool on Amazon
  6. Maybe you could borrow one of those lady protesters pink hats to distract them from your face.
  7. Not sure if it matters, but we used nylon, and knotted the unfrayed end and burned it with a lighter to keep the knot from coming out.
  8. That's a work of art. If I ever build one, you don't get to beach it. Pick that jewel up and haul it out on your shoulders, IPA or not.
  9. We bought the net bags. I wanted to go rubber. Rick insisted they didn't make them deep enough to land his big fish. Turns out he was correct. He would never have landed that big boy. He only got 2/3 of him in the net as it was.
  10. The is such an amazing project. The colors of that cedar are beautiful! The strip that goes along the bottom edge--how is that put in place? Is it glued?
  11. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I don't really call myself a woodworker, but we did make nets. Laker used capped pvc pipe for a soak tank for our strips. Do you have any idea what the final weight will be?
  12. My mom could catch crappie year round on minnows. They do have a crappie bed--pretty much a must. Rick could fish beside her and reel in fish for fish on a jig. It's all about confidence in what you're using. Rick would also tell me I could only catch a bass on a plastic worm in the spring. Proved that wrong by yanking them in mid-winter.
  13. Possums will get them too.
  14. I enjoyed reading this. Your name was part of this household. I think Rick bragged about your fish as much as he did his own. That call from MDC was a thrill for him, as were all the other congratulatory calls and comments. Happy fishing! And as my hubby often said, "Now go catch another one!"
  15. I love all the knowledge you guys have! Do you ever go fishing? This has to take a lot of your time Sandy
  16. I still have Laker's auto fly reel and rod he had as a boy. Not sure I'm cool enough to try it out
  17. Spent a few hours in the outlet at Bennett this morning.  Caught a few dinks.  The sculpin was so little I was casting him for about ten minutes before I realized my fly was a little heavy.  I hooked one that was about a pound and a half, but the guy fishing next to me (I'm fairly certain) released him when he jumped in his lap.  Great day to wet wade!

  18. Rick's book is in final edits. He had nothing but good to say about MDC. Lots of history of old Taney. Quick read, but some good stuff in it. Sandy
  19. Promises made and kept! Exactly why I'm going after a monster brown this fall
  20. I came home with Covid
  21. Come down and wet a line with me
  22. I look forward to seeing you!!! I've been proofing Laker's book today. I realize how little I know about what he knew
  23. A bad day fishing (with covid) is still better than a good day working!
  24. My biggest catch of the trip was covid. Only went one time and didn't stay long. Had the fair weather fishermen with me. I'll be there Sept. 26-Oct. 9. Hope to see some of y'all then! Look for the Laker67 hat
  25. Heading to Branson for a couple days with family. Just might sneak down to the creek. How's fishing and water generation?
