Minimum flow has made that regress even deeper. I tried once to navigate that cane jungle on that bank. I forced my way through to the gravel road and walked back to the access. Not a good out either.

You can't hear it at McClellan's either. Several years back Kdan and I were fishing downstream of the waterfall. It came up so fast that he was unable to get back across. I rented a boat at the dock and luckily the guy there drove it down and picked him up. It is a long walk to civilization on that side of the creek. Norfork can be difficult and unsafe with rising water.

That's some real good advice about the water coming up without warning. If you fish more than a half mile below the dam it will be difficult or impossible to hear the horn. I know there is a number to call to give real time water generation, but I do not have it. The handicap access near the mouth of the white has some real good looking water. Netboy knows this stretch well. It's dark, I will tell you that. Good luck and be safe.

I could have gathered them by the thousands while fishing taneycomo yesterday. Every time a boat wave washed onto the bank it would leave hundreds on the bank. They would all start scrambling back towards water. That is if you can call a scud moving, "scrambling".

Hope for some moonlight JHK. Don't know about the white but the norfork is the darkest, can't see your hand in front of your face, place I have ever fished. Gotta shine your light occasionally just to make sure you are still standing in water.

Sometimes I take things for granted, I should have clarified. Cross the stone bridge that is over zone 2 right below the dam. You are headed into the park on 64 spur. That access road runs along side the creek heading downstream.

After you cross the bridge there is an access road to the right. Go 300 feet and look right. Some old bridge piers on the far side mark the lower part of the high bank hole. Good luck on your trip.

Taneycomo has been that way for years. Just about the time you know that you have things figured out, it will beat you like a whipped pup. It can give you the best, and the worst, trip you have ever had. And sometimes both happen in the same day due to changing water conditions. I have fished taney since 1975, both day and night. It has beat me, abused me and sent me home talking to myself. But it is without question my favorite fishing hole.

During the day on Tuesday, the rainbows were real aggressive on a white 1/64 oz jig that I was bouncing on the bottom. Sorry I should have mentioned that before you fished.

You got into some decent fish. High bank is great for holdovers, it's not that easy to fish for most folks. I have to go by it now, too many rocks for my unstable left leg. It used to be one of my favorite places. Caught some good fish there as I know you have too. Sorry we missed you.

Indeed Marty. One of those days that makes you wish that you could have more just like them. Good friends, good weather, and good conversation. Catching fish was just what happened while all the good stuff was going on.

We never changed color, started with a light gray scud and ended with the same. Not sure what the others were using, but everyone was catching good numbers of fish. Maybe Foghorn will jump in and tell us what flies he was using.

The wife and I decided to give our favorite trout stream a break today and ended up at BSSP. The water is slightly up and a greenish white color with limited visibility. Fishing is excellent for dinks. A fun day just relaxing and enjoying visiting with some long time friends plus a new friend from our part of the country. Good to meet you George, and enjoyed the conversation. Foghorn and his wife were there, and a couple of TU friends, Dick and Keith, from Springfield area. Catching was non stop but size is way down from the regular season. It almost appears that they turned out several 8 to 10 inchers to grow up in the creek over the winter. Everyone was courteous and respectful today which lately has become a rare thing. We enjoyed fishing and joking with our good friends. Like us, they feel comfortable from covid while on the creek. 707.7 but that is a good level for what you are doing. Saw some 4 and 5 pound rainbows on tuesday along with a holdover 7 lb brown that my wife caught. Good luck and I hope you catch a sea monster as well. Look forward to some reports.

I am not going to make my 100 lunker trout goal this year. I am actually going to fall way short. Did not get to fish my favorite trout stream much this year. Even though my wife and I caught some respectable trout this year, I am only at 35 lunkers so far. Might pick up a half dozen more by the end of the year if lucky. But like you said Johnsfolly, it has been a different kind of year.

I like to watch them going through that pre spawn ritual. 2 to 3 little males males trying to run each other off to claim dominance for the female. That one small male thinks he is king of the roost, notice how he nudges the female to try to get her to drop eggs. Great video , thanks.
