  1. Tell me how the rubbing alcohol works, I have never heard of that.
  2. throw me into that hillbilly group oneshot. I was born and raised and still living in camden county. My family came here in 1820 and settled in what is now prairie hollow on the little niangua. And yes, I prefer suckers over trout, but only to eat. Trout fishing is my number one "hillbilly" thing to do.
  3. It is a southwestern sub species of rainbow with some type of black and yellow fungus growing out of its mouth.
  4. The lure that hits the water first.
  5. Great news jd. Some how I missed knowing about your cancer. I know all too well about that feeding tube and the long stay in the hospital. Good to have you doing well.
  6. ky3 reported 664.1. Did it get that high? HIghest I saw was 63. 83.
  7. We shut the power down and hopefully we do not get a ticket for "no" blue light.
  8. Thanks for the updates guys!
  9. hope someone puts a lasso on it. I could tie it up to my seawall and fish off of it.
  10. big n at 54
  11. Some where there is a 665 set back ruling, but in the case of my neighbor, the contractor must have ignored that ruling. His lower level floor looks to be right at or under at 663.46. And now it the level is 663.62. Debris from the last flood is being re-deposited into the lake. What happens when it all lodges against the front side of the dam?
  12. This could be devastating. Wishing everyone a safe and as good an outcome as possible.
  13. we have had 8 inches just 30 miles north bssp and 4 more expected. our rain will not effect them but they are getting hit just as hard. Water is already over our seawall at loz.
  14. Use cheap 8x tippet
  15. As I recall, I caught a nice 5 or so pound rainbow on that similar jig of yours. Tried several of my scud patterns with no success and then you says, try this. The fish was laid up under a ledge, and when I laid that jig next to the ledge, out he came and inhaled it. Thanks !
  16. I think it is feather craft pete
  17. I can tell you I used one similar," Leonard's hibernator" in this color, to catch my very largest rainbow. Also have caught some large browns on the same fly. Don't even try it on a little one because you want to keep the hook sharp for the big boys. t
  18. When Bernie Norris sold his lunker lure design to I think Bill Norman, back in the 80's, I was using one catching bass from a seawall point. As I am retrieving, fast, it just felt like I had snagged some weeds with not much resistance. That turned out to be a 12 to 13 inch crappie with very little fight. Never caught another crappie with it.
  19. About the only way that I come up with a 16 inch crappie, is to burn the first 3 inches. Used to fish a public dock a few years back and one gentleman from linn creek was always telling me about the big crappie he was catching. On arriving one morning, he says "look in my bucket and see the 18 incher I just caught. It barely touched from one side to other in the bottom of a five gallon bucket. I said " yep thats a good one". Some people have no idea how big a 16 inch, and especially an 18 inch crappie really is.
  20. Judging from the location and the little scuff mark on the lip, I hooked up with your fish today but failed to land him. Found him and a 4lber laid up together. Caught and landed the four and returned to hook up and lose your fish. In that skinny water with all the tree limbs it is hard to keep close after you hook one. This is the first lunker that I have caught at bennett in quite some time. Temp was 74 when I left at 3:45. and when it got dark there appears to be a miller moth hatch . Hard to beat for december.
  21. Used to hear frogs and whiperwills at night. Now all I hear is loud music and fireworks.
  22. I agree that they will never enforce a no wake law. Some upper niangua people would not even slow down during the lake wide no wake when the water was over the seawalls. I guess their boat did not fall under the regulations of no wake. Talking about hybrids, I have been catching a few off the dock on the long rod. Using a 64th ounce jig under an indicator and just waiting for one to cruise buy. One morning a while back they were busting the surface all around me. Caught 3 as quick as I could land them before some idiot in a red tracker boat pulled in right on top of them and yelled, what are u catching on that fly rod. Reminded me of the trout park when you are catching fish. All of a sudden every one close is standing next to you. He put everything down including the shad. By the way FW, that XP works good on them hybrids. I was roll casting about 40 ft off the corner of the dock.
  23. Just as well that you took away the wading. With the water up and running, and no outlet fishing, there would be no handicap access other than a boat ramp or two.
  24. You best check on that cleo to be sure. I think it has to have some type of fly material in addtion to the single hook. Rooster tail normally has a fly material attached.
  25. I like to think of trout being"highly selective". It gives me a better excuse on why I didn't catch the big one laying at my feet.
