  3. It sounds like they released it, but article was a bit vague.

    That's a great day!
  5. Congrats on some good fishing. The Ned rig can save the day when things are slow on other stuff.
  6. It is always a bit of gamble no matter who ships it. If it is packed in a PVC tube or a heavy duty cardboard tube you should be OK. I once got a St. Croix from a retailer, they packed it in a flimsy triangular cross section "tube". Looked like it had been thrown into the zoo lions den for the lions to play with. All tore up. Amazingly the rod was in perfect shape.
  7. Sounds good, if you come to TR I can give you some spots to fish. But anyway, come on down!
  8. You are too darned far away, if you're ever down here, I'd be happy to take you over to Beaver or Table Rock. Getting a monster smallie is a challenge for sure, but there are always fish to catch. Top water striper is awesome if you hit it right.
  9. Yep, they are all out of hatchery.
  10. Sent the pic to the AGFC region 1 supervisor. He says it is most likely a striper, says they seem them that look like that (broken lines) often. Anal fin rays spines weren't right for a hybrid, and the body shape was striper like. That was my impression, fat striper, but the broken lines made me wonder.
  11. I'll also bring plastic plates, utensils, mustard. Anyone bringing any sodas or water?
  12. Talked to someone that was on the Kings yesterday, parking lots full at Viola and Sweetwater, boats everywhere. Seems a lot were on the hunt for white bass. Isn't this week spring break in MO? Weekend of April 8 - KVD Big Bass Bash, MLF College/high school tourney, and there's another one, can't remember what one it is, but they have a permit for 100 boats or something like that. That is going to be one busy weekend, especially if the weather is nice.
  13. If you get a chance, let us know what you think of them once you get some on the water time with them. I'm really curious about the side-scan. I have side scan on my 10 year old Birds, but not that impressed with it. Shows structure really well and shad balls, but fish are hard to pick out. Good side scan to me is just about as good as Livescope for locating fish.
  14. There is some, it isn't bad, but you will run into it.
  15. Got my annual physical today - Doc gave me another year. Which reminds me of an old Henny Youngman joke: A doctor gave a man six months to live. The man couldn't pay his bill, so he gave him another six months.
  16. And they had to paddle upstream into the wind to get to the spot. Both ways...
  17. Haven't watched it yet, don't spoil the ending for me. 😃 Just watched the FOX SW Outdoors fishing show/report. The host was fishing for crappie on DeQueen lake. Using Livescope of course. Seems like every fishing show nowadays features Livescope. You can't get away from it.
  18. On a minnow rig (whatever that is). Caution - link is ad heavy. Colorado Angler Lands Huge White River Brown Trout | Field & Stream (fieldandstream.com)
  19. I have a four legged alarm clock.
  20. Did a little searching, they last stocked hybrids in Beaver in 2014. I wonder if it is possible for hybrid fingerlings to accidentally get mixed in with the stripers when they stock them, or if it is one that got spawned?
  21. Yep, you're going to have to come on down. Supposed to be some rain early next week, but if we don't get flooded they should be hanging around where I saw them today.
  22. Right at 50 when I left.
  23. Slower today, the spotted bass bit pretty well, I caught 4 nice keeper sized spots, but the smallmouth and largemouth were AWOL except for a handful of 12-13" smallmouth. 9 bass total on Ned rigs and 2.8 Keitechs. For the first time since fall I saw some stripers swirling on top. They were in a cove not too far from the Indian Creek ramp, not a bunch of them, and they were scattered. I saw one that came up about 30 feet from the boat, threw a jerk bait at it, but no love. I did catch what looks to be a hybrid or maybe a striper. They stopped stocking hybrids several years ago, but maybe it is a striper, I dunno. Whatever it is, it has obviously eaten well.
