  1. There are some things in life a guy should keep to himself. 😄
  2. Your custom head is a good thing for Elaztech, no bait keeper to make it difficult to put the worm on.
  3. We started on a couple of gravel points and didn't do well on them, but we were throwing top water to begin so maybe that had something to do with it.
  4. Got to fish with M&M (Mike) today, we launched before 7 AM and headed up the lake. I got to the ramp early, got stuff ready and had a few minutes to kill, so I threw a Surge Shad around. Saw a bass swirl on something right off the rip rap at the edge of the parking lot, so ran that Surge down the bank and he took a swipe at it, first top water fish for me of the year and as I always do, I forgot to wait until I felt the fish on before setting the hook, so I jerked it away from him. Threw down the bank again thinking I for sure had spooked him, but danged if he didn't grab it again and this time I caught him - turned out to be the best bass I'd catch all day. I really like that Surge Shad, throws a lot further and easier than a Red Fin and wakes well right out of the box. We caught around 30 bass between the 2 of us today, something like 5 or 6 were keepers. Mix of spots, Largemouth and a couple of smallies. Number one bait was the 2.8 Keitech, couple swimming a Trick Worm on a Slider head, one Ned fish, and I think I remember Mike getting one on a jig. The fish were shallow and some were deep in 20 FOW. Some were in coves and some out on the main channel, we'd have some action for a while and then have stretches of 15-30 minutes where we would not get any bites. Just had to keep poking around to find fish. Quite a few bass boats out today, saw a wrapped truck in the Big M lot, so I checked the Regatta listings and there is an MLF/FLW Phoenix division tourney this weekend, 200 boats in the permit. WT was 56 first thing in the AM.
  5. Nice ones, looks like a lateral line on the suspect meanmouth, so based on that, I'd say it's a mean.
  6. Nice ones, best wishes to your wife, hope she recovers well!
  7. Yeah, a few of them have popped up around here, not a bad thing and it takes some of the load off the ER's. Know a nurse that used to work in the ER and one of her pet peeves were the people that would come into the ER looking for treatment for a cold.
  8. Here's one that'll add a couple of points to your IQ..

    Crappie

Based on catching a few nice ones while bass fishing last week, it doesn't surprise me that people are getting them. I like to eat morels, but I really hate ticks and I just can't convince myself to go stomping around in the woods looking for them.
  10. I'm not a lawyer, but here is what I found under the Arkansas code on water craft operation. Nowhere did I see in any of the code anything that mentions "No wake". Shall operate a motorboat upon the waters of this state within one hundred feet (100') of a designated recreation area, dock, pier, raft, float, anchored boat, dam, intake structure, or other obstruction at a speed exceeding five (5) miles per hour unless a contrary speed limit shall have been established in the designated area. However, in no case shall any motor boat be driven in a manner or at a speed that exceeds the safe and reasonable limits under the existing circumstances;
  11. Some nice fish, congrats!
  12. I don't know the weight, but I'd call it eating sized. 😃
  13. I can tell how Arkansas defines it - 5 MPH (or less). Had a buddy that got ticketed for a wake in the Prairie Creek (Beaver lake) no wake zone. He researched it, found out what the law was and took it to court. The judge himself did not know the what the definition was until my buddy told him. Anyway he got the ticket tossed as there was no proof that he was going over 5 MPH. Didn't help that the officer that wrote the ticked did not show up in court.
  14. Blooming here too, have a couple in the backyard and there's some more back in the woods.
  15. That is pretty neat - hope that engine light is no big deal.
  16. Better plan on bringing your flipping stuff for the picnic table bite, Vernon should have the lake up to 932 by then.
  17. I can't catch those 6 lbers., glad to see someone does before the bass die of old age. So far, nothing over 6 has been weighed at the Big Bass deal.
  18. The elusive trouppie (cross between a trout and crappie)!
  19. Vernon arranged for a little preview last night.
  20. And make sure your bilge pump is working...
  21. That is pretty neat and one less rat in the world is a good thing. Hope that fish gets more.
  22. Way to go! Some super fish!
  23. Smallmouth like to come investigate rattling and clicking stuff. 3-4 lb. smallmouth can get you in the money. I like a clicker on my c-rig weights too, sometimes pausing the c-rig and just shaking the weight can get bites.
  24. Daryk, I think you look just fine for a 70 year old. I hope I am as in as good as shape as you are when I get to that age. 😃
  25. I do spend some time "analyzing", but it doesn't seem to help.
