Consensus seems to be that no one wants political posts here or in any of the forums, you can hit the "report post" option in the upper right and if the post is political in nature I can delete it. I can't move individual posts to the political forum, only entire threads. I also think that it is tough to talk about the whole COVID thing without mentioning politicians as they are so embedded in it. I don't know what it is like in everyone else's part of the world, but I think everyone in the state of Arkansas was out driving around yesterday, traffic was bad coming back from Table Rock. Quite a few people hauling boats and campers. Hopefully we won't see a new wave of infections. One of the community gyms is reopening, I'd like to go but there's a half page of rules to follow and you need to make a reservation a week in advance. I'll just have to continue walking for now.

I'm using 1/8th, but I bet a 1/16th would get them too or maybe work better. I just hate throwing the 1/16.

I saw those alerts and I'm sure Phil did also. I believe Phil hopes the membership will self police itself and refrain from making political posts in other than the political forum. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work as it just keeps going on and on. And it is tough to stay out of the political mud, I've been sorely tempted myself but have managed to hold off. But out of respect for Phil and the great site he has provided us we should all quit making political posts in the general topics forums and for crying out loud there is a political forum. I can start editing political stuff out if you guys want me to.

Got out at the break of dawn and fished until noon. Wind really picked up about 11 AM and the number of boats on the lake later in the morning was getting ridiculous so I was ready to go. Most of the bass I caught today were in front of buck brush near bedding areas. Threw a Ned rig on the edge of the brush and dragged it back a few feet, most bites were pretty close to the brush. Nothing big, mainly nest guarding males, I had 4 keepers out of 21 bass. Quite a few bites, quite a few misses as they are being really squirrely. Several bites where it would just stop and feel exactly like dragging it into a limb and usually those were the better fish. Some bites I'd just see some twitches in the line, without feeling anything. Caught a couple on top water, there are a few out in the channel chasing shad. 18 rigs in the Big M lot when I left which seems to be the new normal.

I think he's on some remote lake in Canada, I don't see a single boat in the background - no way it is Table Rock. 😀

Those are all good suggestions above, there's a couple of neighborhood ramps in Viney creek on the east side of the cove. Caught a couple of bass today within about a stones throw off the northernmost ramp. Another suggestion is Carter Hollow which is maybe 2 miles downstream from Viney. It's on the north side of the channel. The reason I suggest Carter is that there is a no wake buoy at the mouth so you don't get boat wakes back there. Lots of trees and docks back in there to fish so you can stay busy back there for all day if you want. Doesn't hurt to do a day of scouting to find these ramps and access points, then come back for a full day of fishing. You could hit several of these coves in a day if you wanted, fish them out, load the canoe and move to another one.

Cut this out of an email I received from MDC today: Daily trout tags, along with a fishing permit, unless exempt, will be required beginning May 16 for fishing at all four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. MDC hatchery staff will resume stocking the parks on May 15 to provide angling opportunities prior to May 16. State Parks will begin to reopen retail operations in parks leading up to May 16.

If you want to post this in the tips, tricks and boat help forum, I would be happy to pin it.

State and possible World Record Spotted Sucker
Quillback replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Angling Discussion
Well I will speculate that the previous state record was not submitted to whoever it is that keeps the 'world records'. Maybe they are referring to IFGA, and IFGA has some pretty strict and sometimes baffling standards, so it could have been submitted but rejected by the IFGA. And it is possible IFGA may reject this one. -
Yep, however you want, just has to be public water and artificial lures.

Nice looking fish, congrats!

State and possible World Record Spotted Sucker
Quillback replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Angling Discussion
Have to give props to the man for knowing his targeted fish, sounds like a tough one to get on rod and reel. -
OK, we've got our three judges - Johnsfolly, SnaggedinOutlet3 and M&M. John, Pete, and Mike respectively. There may be a few changes to the rules that they are considering.

Well breaking out the calculator, with a US population of 330,000,000 times .003, that works out to 990,000 dead people. A 3/1000 chance of dying is good odds for an individual, but as a whole, it still kills a lot of people. I would also add that a person's chances are probably better in a rural environment that in a crowded city.

I agree, this whole printing money thing is a short term bridge to get us over the hump. We can't keep doing it long term.

HAHA, yeah that's something else, first you have to say something to them to get their attention, of course they don't hear it, so you have to repeat. One of my fishing buddies is hard of hearing and another issue is that they think they have to yell to be heard. He's always yelling at me - "WHAT COLOR WORM ARE YOU THROWING?" or something similar at 0530 on a quiet summer morning.
-
I have some people in my life that I wish would get hearing aids, I get tired of yelling at them just trying to hold a conversation.

Table Rock Lake Current Fishing Report 4-27 20
Quillback replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Dang moss seems to be getting worse every year, it's even swimming up stream 😄 and starting to show in the Big M area. Once established it won't go away. -
Now the Fed is buying corporate bonds. Should be good in the short term as it will give corporations money to cover operations, but long term it will cause some companies to become overleveraged and increases the chance of those corps going bankrupt - thus leaving the fed with worthless bonds. If this economy doesn't get going soon, we could be in for some really bad times. The govt. is taking on a lot of debt, it is getting really worrisome. Tax revenues will decrease, states are having to pay out unemployment benefits in increasing amounts and some of those states are now looking to the feds to bails them out.

Yep, been considering the full Billethead myself. Starting to look like Einstein but without the smarts.
-
Sorry to hear that - you'd think they would take a wait and see approach to this summer, but maybe that would not work for their business.
-
Marty, that is one heck of a garden you have there! Just watched the local weather forecast, we could be seeing some straight line winds up to 80 MPH. I'm not liking that at all. Dang weather...

Yep, same here, some light rain today then tomorrow another round of heavy storms.
