  1. Nice setup! Starting sometime in May, there should be a top water striper bite going in the lower lake, assuming we don't get any more stinking floods that mess the water up. That's ideal to be camping there as you can get out early and late when they are up on top.
  2. Yes sir, I am now a retired fishing bum. Congrats on your impending retirement!
  3. Lineup is submitted! Of course, that is the kiss of death to the anglers I selected.
  4. Back seater to watch is Steve Meador from Bentonville (He's a friend of a friend of mine). He's 5 lbs. back, which will be tough to over come, but he won on Grand this year and I believe has 2 FLW main event wins as a back seater, and has been in the top 10 quite a few times. Very tough to be that consistent as a back seater. https://www.flwfishing.com/results
  5. Thanks Dan, I am just lucky to have the time to get out there and fish, and those flood years we had where the water was high and provided good conditions for fish survival have helped considerably in my opinion. Tip of the hat to AGFC also for a good walleye program.
  6. That's one of the reason I checked out, saw a documentary several years ago where they talked about the changes, no way I was going to listen to that guy rehash it. And I believe when he says "deer" he actually is talking about elk (Brits will call elk, - deer). Once he started talking about "deer" I was done. Sorry, just can't take that guy seriously.
  7. Made it an early start today, Mike and I launched the boat about 0630. Probably should've had started later in the morning, it was cold, windy and cloudy to start and the fishing was slow. The bass fishing never got good, we caught about 15 bass, mostly spots, mostly 12-14" fish. I caught a meanmouth that I weighed that was just short of 3.5 lbs., but that fish was an exception The walleye bite was good however, we boated 4 keepers (and they were kept). Nothing exceptional, but three of them were in the 20-22" range. One was on a jig, the rest on a 2.8 Keitech. Slow rolling the Keitech, keeping it near the bottom. Also caught a striper that was in the 6-7 lb. range. We threw Keitechs, Neds and jigs, Keitechs out fished everything else. Water remains stained green in Indian and clear near the dam. WT52-53. 8. I could only take about 4 minutes of it.
  9. On the days they ask you that question - were you wearing a jersey?
  10. I think someone is miffed that MDC is removing those nasty invasive carp from Creve Couer and is trying to use that to direct anger at MDC. Nice try.
  11. The BH strikes again! Congrats on getting a bird.
  12. 16" crappie is a heckuva crappie.
  13. Thanks for the report, FLW Costa tourney starts Thursday.
  14. Nice too see some rain forecast for SW Kansas, be good for the bird habitat (and farmers).
  15. Finally got a break from the wind and cold, launched about 10 AM with the plan to fish points and banks that were in the sun. Slow rolled 2.8 Keitechs, caught 20 bass, maybe half of them keepers, and about half of them smallies. Biggest fish was a 3.5 largemouth. Fish were a bit deep, 10-20 FOW for the most part and some seem to be moving into the pockets and coves, starting to get near those spawning banks. Ran into my buddy Jeb out there, he had a visitor down from Minnesota, and they were getting bit too. WT 53 when I left, water in Indian is a stained green, clear water in the dam basin where you can see bottom in 15 FOW.
  16. Indian is stained green, further back you go the stain increases a bit. I'm going to say 3-4 feet of viz. I didn't fish the really clear water much, but did catch a couple of smallies in the clear water. Once I get back in Indian, I'm there for the day. I'd like to get over to the Clifty arms someday, kind of curious what the water color is there.
  17. Part of the NAFTA agreement, we send them Bud Light, they send us Corona. Win for us.

  19. Don't go picking on us Ned guys, I deep hook fewer fish with the Ned than just about any other bait I use. They hardly ever get it down in their throat or in their gills.
  20. Quite a few neighborhood ramps in the Big M area back in the coves, if I had only a Yak to fish from, I would not hesitate to fish back in some of those coves, you will get some bass boats back in them, but it's not that bad. Viney creek for example has two little ramps with parking, no launch fee.
  21. Congrats on some great fishing. You are an inspiration to wimps like me that stayed in the house this weekend and watched baseball and hockey instead of getting out there in that stinking wind.
  22. Shoot Bill Babler a PM, or call him, unless things have changed I believe he uses Falcons and if he doesn't have any around, I am sure he can find some for you. Contact info: http://whiteriveroutfitters.com/
  23. Any of you know what the water looks like around PC? Is it still pretty muddy?
  24. Whew, glad you didn't sore mouth any of my smallies. Just kidding of course, that white bass run to the back on Indian can be hard to time, cool to see you get into them!
