  1. The Hog proves to be mightier than the Frog. Watching that game just about gave me an ulcer. A lot of rabbits were pulled out of the Hogs hat.
  2. Ouch! Tell Champ he has my sympathy.
  3. I believe there is a tournament or three going on today also. Hopefully this rain will get the bass going.
  4. Looks like it is looking to spawn a few months early. A nice fish nonetheless.
  5. From my quick look at Little Sugar as I passed over it on 71, it is not up much, maybe a foot, but it is the color of coffee with cream. No rain here so far today, looks like it all passed just to the north, but the forecast is for more tonight.
  6. In Elaztech we trust..
  7. I see the generation info now. Still can't see the TR lake level graphs.
  8. Was watching the FSSW Fishing report show, and one of the local OK "Pros" mentioned this bait for the Ned. It does not appear to be made out of Elaztech. Little paddle tail on the end might give it some good fluttering action when twitched or slow crawled. I don't see it for sale anywhere yet. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/icast16.html?ccode=GENE16A
  9. The charts break periodically. I tried to get the lake level for TR from the Corps site, but it errors out with a security certificate warning. It has been broke since last Friday.
  10. Sounds like you'd better stay away from BV Marine. I was concerned when I saw they had gotten big.
  11. Wow, I don't have a rain gauge, but I think about an inch or two at my house. I'll probably drive over Little Sugar later today and let you know Trophy. Radar shows another round on the way.
  12. The thing is, I doubt there is anyone here that fishes or would fish a Zebco 33 as an ultra light trout rig. So you're probably not going to get any advice on here on how to use that reel for that purpose. If you can make it work for you, that's great, but you're probably going to continue to face the same issues you're facing now going forward. There's some folks on this board, Ham and Phil Lilley come to mind, that fish 1/16 oz jigs quite a bit for trout. I think you'll find they use small diameter braid or Nanofil with a fluoro leader. I've seen Ham in action and he can sling a small jig pretty well. If you are interested in how they do it, you could PM them and they would probably be happy to share with you what their set up is. If you're going to go that ultra light route, the right tackle can make a world of difference. That doesn't mean it has to be expensive tackle either.
  13. If Fishinwrench is too far away, you can give Bella Vista Marine a shot. Do you think you need a new lower unit? If so, you could give BV a call and see if they can give you an estimate, and then you can do some comparisons with other mechanics. I used BV Marine about 6 years ago and they always treated me fairly and got the job done. But, they have grown quite a bit since then. Even though they call themselves BV Marine, they are located in Rogers. http://www.bellavistamarine.com/

    Skunked!

Tough day for me on Table Rock yesterday also, I caught three 12 inch bass. Caught 20 last Friday, but what worked Friday did not work yesterday. Early September is a tough time for fishing around here, I'm hoping that the forecast for a cold front to come through tomorrow with some rain it true. I think a good rain and cooler temps will help to get the fish going.
  15. Looks like a cold front is on its way, and maybe some rain. Might shake things up a bit and get them going again.
  16. Nice fish. As far as the water stain, it seemed to me that the water in the upper White was a bit more stained yesterday.
  17. Those are some tiny tails.
  18. I think Champ answered the first part, but yeah, not his style. Lately I have been fishing a Missile Baits Fuse 4.4. Zoom Finesse worms were my old stand by, and those Yammy Kut tails that Champ mentions are another good one. I haven't done any drop shotting with bigger worms like a Trick worm. I was watching the recap of the recent Elite event on the Potomac, and the winner (can't remember the name) was throwing a drop shot with a worm that looked to be about Trick worm sized. He had the worm rigged Texas style as apposed to a nose hook, probably worth trying one of these days.
  19. Dagnabit, double post. I should know better by now. If you click on submit and nothing happens, do NOT click on it again.
  20. I think Champ must have spooked all the fish when he was out yesterday, because it was not a good morning for fishing, at least for me. I caught 3 - 12' bass. Missed several bites on a creature and the buzz bait, just could not keep a hook in them. Could not find any deep fish on the drop shot, and it did not help that the wind kicked up pretty good about the time I decided to go deep. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

  22. You might want to check the hook sharpness on those Rooster Tails. I would check them right out of the package. I would really consider getting rid of that Zebco 33 and getting a spinning set up. And I would probably spool up with at least 4 lb. test if I was throwing a Rooster Tail. What size (weight) Rooster are you throwing?
  23. I had to rub my eyes for a second when I saw Champ mentioned fishing the Drop shot. Couldn't believe what I read.
  24. I don't know the Abu line of spinning reels, but in general it seems that as they get more expensive they use lightweight material like magnesium for the frames, more bearings as you mention, and better overall machining. You should get a lighter, smoother reel that feels well put together. Hard to make comparisons unless you can get your hands on one to try out. Cabelas has Pflueger Patriarchs on sale in the bargain cave for $129. They usually retail for around $200. Never have fished one, but I have a couple of lesser Pfluegers (Supremes) which I am relatively happy with, except that the drag clicker is a cheap little metal stud mounted on the spool that wears out after a while. I would hope the Patriarch has a more robust clicker, but you never know. I also believe the Patriarch comes with a spare spool, which there days a lot of spinning reels do not.
  25. Or a sharp stick in the eye..
