  1. I remember reading somewhere that salt water stripers will eat lobster, did a search and found some interesting info. Makes sense they would eat craws in freshwater. http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gone-fishin%E2%80%99/2012/08/new-research-lobster-predators-gulf-maine
  2. Dissin' my favorite line. My feelings are now hurt.
  3. Those blue cats are tasty critters.
  4. I'm on the 6# Invisx train. As long as I remember to close the bail with my hand, it works great. Have to monitor for abrasion, and retie if necessary, but other than that it works great for me Ned fishing. Maxima is great stuff, I used 6 and 8# for summer run steelhead when I lived out west.
  5. I wonder if anyone has fished big craws for stripers? Thanks for the input, Notropis.
  6. You're right, it's not a bad day. I'm not complaining, and some of it was self inflicted, getting back in the coves and trying some different stuff. I can get stubborn at times and try and make them bite something they don't want. And I'm trying to break the Ned habit, it's been fun but I like to fish other baits also. I wish I had fished the Menace out deep all day, the fish I caught on it were really slamming it, fun to get some hard hits for a change.
  7. Yeah I hear you on that, I stayed in the coves a little too long trying to make them bite what I wanted them to bite. Figured out they were deep a little too late in the day.
  8. Yeah Ventura can't go on letting the other teams get him aggravated. They are going to use that against him, try and get him off his game or get him tossed.
  9. That's a nice string of crappie.
  10. I haven't fished Lizards much the last few years. I don't know why as they have always worked well in the spring. I need to get back to throwing them.
  11. Nothing wrong with getting into a bunch of K's. They ought to start chasing top waters soon.
  12. Good to hear they are moving out.
  13. Cool, thanks for the info - you fellas had a great trip!
  14. A bit of a skirmish broke out last night. Royals are getting feisty. Had a bit of a bean ball war with the A's and something resembling a real fight broke out for a bit last night. Yordano Ventura seems to always be a prominent figure in these deals. I bet ESPN will replay that fight about a 100 times today.
  15. Sounds like an awesome lake. I think they did an MFL show on Tenkiller and they were getting quite a few Largemouth, but I may have that wrong. Anyway, It would be tough to fish for the LM's with the smallies biting like they were for you. Did you throw the Ned at them?
  16. And they have some weather tomorrow, windy, T-storms. Saturday looks to be windy also.
  17. Based on the reports I read today, you guys whipped my butt. I started the morning a little late, had to wait for the rain to move out of Bella Vista, but it followed me to the Rock and I also spent about a half hour in a dock stall waiting for it to move on. I spent most of the morning fishing back in coves, dragging a Nutech jig and the Ned. I picked up a few on the jig, keeper sized large mouth, but it was just a bite here and there. Fishing spawning fish is just doesn't work for me, can't seem to make them see reason. In the afternoon, finally ran across a group of fish off the main channel sitting in 20 FOW, caught a few dragging the Menace Grub on a wobble head, several were solid keeper spots that just hammered the grub. After they stopped biting the grub, went back over them and picked up a couple more on the Ned. Found a few more off a rocky point that liked the Ned, and then it was time to go home, on the trailer at 4 PM. Caught about 20 fish total, half Ned fish, the other half on the Menace Grub and Nutech 3/8 oz jig. Surface temps were 60-61. Those fish in the backs of coves are getting hammered, seems every cove had a boat or two in it, and you see lots of boats going in and out of coves heading right to the back. I tip my hat to those of you that can catch those cove fish because they are seeing a lot of stuff, seven days a week. Spotted bass seem to be about half spawned out, caught some with flat bellies, but others were as fat as they can be.
  18. Yep, should've filleted that cat on the spot and put the fillets in to marinade with the steaks. Great fishing, thanks for the report!
  19. Thanks for the report.
  20. That's some great fishing, good to hear they are biting the lizard!
  21. October 12th??!!! What the heck. BASS gets it out a couple of weeks after the tourney. Money is the same for the FLW anglers as far as I can tell, but the rest of the operation is 2nd class compared to BASS.
  22. MLF has three in a boat.
  23. Somebody will probably fish up near the dam for smallies, not saying they will win, but it seems the past couple of years there's always a couple that use that as their strategy. Anyone know when it will air on TV?
  24. Awesome report, thanks for posting!
  25. I know that guy, and he is a good fisherman!
