  1. Easter bunny suit - Vern, you may have something there.
  2. It has been at least a dozen years since I fished for them, but I'd go over in late September/early October. I'd net some shad for bait, and then slowly drag either a whole shad, or a chunk on the bottom. Limit was 10, and If things were right, I would limit. 2-3 lb. blues with a channel cat every now and then. Depth finder would show them on the bottom almost continuously. Only negative was the rec boats after about 9 AM. Even in October there is a bunch of them.
  3. I have a buddy that lives not too far away from Grand, we keep talking about chasing the blues, but have not yet done it. Excellent eating fish too.
  4. I bet they would be good bait for the blue cats in Grand.
  5. There's always one around my house, could be more I guess, but I only see one at a time. Someone told me a chipmunk ate all the insulation off the wiring in their car, so since hearing that, I don't trust them.
  6. I have heard of the extra perks. It is crazy the amount of money being thrown around college football.
  7. Can you buy something like a full body spacesuit that is heated? For $99? That's what I would've needed the other day.
  8. Heard of a guy here in Bella Vista that live trapped them around his house and released them somewhere up in MO. He'd trap one and a few days later another would show up. He started painting their backs with orange spray paint as he was convinced they were migrating back to his house from where he released them miles away. Needless to say, none of the orange ones ever came back.
  9. Hate to see him go, but that's a lot of ,money.
  10. Did a search and came up with this article: Don't skip the skipjack | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - Arkansas' Best News Source (arkansasonline.com)
  11. Wish it was closer, I might fish for them once just for the heck of it.
  12. Be very careful on the Corps docks if they have frost on them. A few years ago I was launching my boat early one morning at one of the COE launches at Beaver. It was frosty out. A boat pulls up to the dock, they had been out night fishing for stripers with a guide. The guide gets out walks down the walkway, steps onto that flat metal piece that connects the dock to the bank, and his feet go straight out from him and BAM!, Frazier goes down! I was 2 feet away from him when it happened. He just laid there for a minute and got up and was OK.
  13. I thought they might be doing it for cat bait.
  14. I did not know that people fished for skipjacks, outside of you species guys.
  15. That's a great trip! A little snow here in BV, but it looks to have stopped.
  16. Some Drink stuff from the local news: Missouri's Eliah Drinkwitz represents Alma on national stage with Cotton Bowl win (nwahomepage.com)
  17. Sunday actually looks decent. The only other boat we saw yesterday looked to be doing the search for deep fish thing. It is definitely a way to sack them. New Years day Polar Bear tourney on Beaver was won by a couple of guys fishing jigs, so there is still hope for us throwback bank beaters.
  18. Brought some fun diseases over too, like smallpox.
  19. Extended forecast is showing some really cold weather late next week. Bring some warm duds!
  20. I could not have fit on any more layers of clothes, and I was still cold. Brrrrr.....
  21. I'm not mad at the guy, but strictly for humor, my nickname for him is: "Drink-a-Schlitz".
  22. Call Bill at JWM trailer in Reeds Spring.
  23. You'll get subscription blocked on this link, but you can see enough to see the winning weights. 5 fish for 16.78 Anglers use jigs to win Polar Bear tourney at Beaver Lake | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - Arkansas' Best News Source (arkansasonline.com)
  24. I like doubling my money. 😃
  25. Yep, we saw one other boat all day and that appeared to be a striper fisherman.
