I was stinking it up today, 2 bass total. Both came on a Strike King Structure Bug fished on a wobble head. One was a nice healthy 2 lb. LM and the other a 13" spot. Got the LM on a bluff wall and the spot in some wood. Also lost a good fish, looked to be 4 lbs. or so, that hit the Structure Bug off the back corner of a dock. Had that fish on for maybe 5 seconds, and then it jumped at least 3 feet into the air and threw the hook.
There was some mid-channel top water activity early, but the fish were scattered and moving around, had a couple of slaps at a Spook, but just couldn't stay with the fish. Might be time to use something like a spoon that can be cast a long ways and ripped back. Most of the fish I am seeing out there look small, which can be explained by the small shad. There are a lot of shad out there, but they are only an inch or so long.
First time I've fished the Structure Bug - it has good action, but like most Strike King plastics it is very fragile. Get a bite and it's likely one of the appendages will get pulled off. Bluegill pull them off also. Catch a bass on one and it's pretty much destroyed.
Water temp 82.
