  1. Went out today and fished Goldilocks hours, 10 AM to 3 PM. Water was dead flat calm until 1 PM or so, then the wind started to pick-up. Picked up a few off a brush pile in 20 FOW, a couple off a steep chunk rock bank, again out in the 20 foot range. A couple of random ones off deep trees - ended up with 7 bass, 6 of them LM's and a solitary spot. Slow dragging a tube got my fish, did throw a jerker for a bit, but no bites on it. Water temps were 40-42, water up in the Big M area has a greenish stain, looks like a plankton bloom to me. Looks like we're going to get yet another cold blast, grrrrr.....
  2. Good stuff!
  3. Yeah the Seattle owner (I think it is still Paul Allen) should put those refs on his Christmas list. That missed fumble call on the goal line was the worst, even though it worked out for SF. The guy was laying there with the ball, no one near him, how the heck did they miss that?
  4. Yes it will be an interesting matchup. What concerns me more is Seattle's offence. They were just flat out inept in the 4th quarter. Their receivers can't get open (they really need Harvin back). I don't know what happened to Wilson's scrambling ability, but it seems to have vanished the last several games they've played. The offensive line leaks like a sieve. It will be interesting to see what the Vegas line is, but I have to believe Denver is favored.
  5. Another great video!
  6. Thanks for the report, always interesting to read about fishing those TX lakes.
  7. I haven't tried those Warthogs, as I saw so many reviews where people said they were crap.
  8. Well so much for my Pats. Denver is clearly the better team and deserves the win. Congrats to you Bronco fans!
  9. Words of wisdom.
  10. I lived in Seattle for close to 20 years and lived 15 years in the Boston area also. I'd like to see a Seahawks vs Pats Super Bowl.
  11. I've got a tube of Megastrike, I fish a Megabug, which is a great bait for LM's at times. I've used the Megastrike gel to "refresh" a Megabug after I've fished it for a while, I don't know if it made a difference, but what the heck, I had the tube of gel. I've tried it on some other plastics, just didn't see a difference. I did recently buy a jar of smelly jelly craw scent, I'm going to try it, might go out tomorrow as a matter of fact and try it during the course of the day. And to your point about trying it for neutral or lockjawed fish - I have tried scent in those conditions - out of desperation - haven't seen it make a difference. But those are my personal observations. I'm probably dead wrong.
  12. Yep I agree, that loss to FL hurt the Hogs more than the loss to GA. When it comes to selection time, it seems the talk on the bubble teams that are close to each other, always turns to "quality" wins. AR hurt itself by playing a relatively (except for the Maui tournament) easy pre-SEC schedule. You have to have some quality wins on the resume. Or win the SEC tourney.
  13. Yeah but what if you don't use aftershave? I can see masking a scent, but it would seem to be smarter to not go fishing covered with some kind of aftershave. And you're talking live bait in your example also. And catching walleyes. I'm referring to jigs for bass. I want to believe adding scent to jigs can make a difference, but I just haven't seen it. There are trailers with built in scent, Strike King uses that coffee scent, I've used them and they work, so do Paca chunks with pork scent. So do Zoom Speed Craws with no scent, or I guess you could call them plastic scented. I am open minded on this and I'll undoubtedly try scents in my future bass fishing endeavors. But I just haven't seen a scent that makes a jig fish better. On a consistent basis.
  14. LOL, if a 21 lb. bag marks the over/under line for suckiness, then I also suck.
  15. I'm still not convinced scent makes any difference most of the time on jigs. Fished with folks who are using scent and never saw any significant difference in catch numbers. Except for catfish. I wish I could find a scent that caught more bass for me, I do try some out every once in a while, but still haven't found one that makes a difference. And how much scent does a craw put out? Compare that to the strong smell of the scents that are out there. I think most of the commercial scents out there are marketed for the human nose rather than the fish.
  16. Congrats to MO, and I agree that they have a shot at the NCAA, but as mentioned, they are going to need some quality wins. Arkansas choked another one yesterday at GA. I don't understand why they can't win on the road, I can see it in a packed field house with rabid fans, but attendance in GA was only 6,500 and for the most part it was a pretty quiet crowd. Arkansas is punching their ticket for the NIT unless they can turn things around.
  17. If I recall correctly, MO is going to stock striper fingerlings every other year in Bull. Now you have AR stocking striper food.
  18. I have a few old ones in one of my tackle boxes.
  19. Sounds like a pretty steep nose down suspension for them. But they did suspend? Just not horizontal?
  20. Thanks for the report! Too windy for me, but good to hear someone is stinging some of those bass.
  21. Thanks for the report - I'd like to be out there, but just too windy for me.
  22. The first thing I think of is weight of the jig, then trailer size. How fast of a fall rate do I want? All that depends on what kind of cover I'm targeting. Docks, shallow wood, or deep gravel? The there's seasonality - I've had good luck with a 5/16 oz jig on pre-spawn fish, but once the spawn is done I'll hardly ever fish that small of a jig. So many variables, best to be flexible and adjust to conditions, IMO. As far as color, I like green pumpkin (with maybe a little orange or purple), War Eagles Pond Scum Perch, and black/blue.
  23. That's what I was thinking, going to have some potential for some more of those pig stripers.
