    Don't be afraid to talk to people you meet out on the lake or at the ramp. I've met some good folks out there who are experienced Table Rock fishermen and have given me some great advice. I'm also happy to pass on what little I know to people I meet out there should they ask. Some of the folks on this board have pm'd me with some great advice also, and for that I am thankful. I also think the best advice regarding fishing is that "Nothing beats time on the water".

    Arkansas started their SEC schedule with a thud. Pretty easily handled by A&M. Arkansas had an unusually large number of cup cake games on the schedule this year, so they have a deceivingly good record.

    Yep, sure makes a lot of noise when you bounce a 1/2 oz bullet weight off a sheet metal dock roof - not that I've ever done it. Just based on what I've heard from others.

    There is a marshal thread on another board and one of the guys who has been a marshal says the pros he has fished with have asked him for advice. Just curious if any of you who have been marshals have been asked for any fishing advice while out there on the lake during the tournament? Are there rules against asking the marshals for advice?

    Hard to get a size perspective from that photo. But one thing to me is the tail looks too short for a cougar.

    But if you're taking shad out of the lake - how does that stop mussels from getting in? Maybe they're thinking that nets coming from out of state might have zebras attached to them? I can see them banning people from bringing shad to the lake.

    That's what I was thinking, there are some that are caught by striper guides, but there are so many shad in that lake that it's not going to put a dent in the population. Makes no sense to me.

    Yeah I think #5 is a fair rating for Mizzou, but I can also see the argument for them being ahead of USC. I'm not too disappointed if the SEC dominance ends, even though I root for the SEC in general, but I think it's just a better competitive environment if there are several strong conferences. It will be interesting to see if Malzahn can continue to work the magic at Auburn. And to think he was once the OC at Arkansas. If him and Houston Nutt could have just gotten along...

    I took my young nephew fishing for bream on one of the Bella Vista lakes a few years ago. There was a heron nearby and to entertain the nephew, I started throwing 4-5 inch bream up on the bank for the heron to eat. I can't remember exactly how many it ate, but at least a 1/2 dozen. They can eat a lot of fish.

    Yeah the increased probability of death is one of the many reasons I don't fish when the temp never gets above 10 degrees.
