  1. Heck, you should have sent F&F a PM asking for info, he'd probably have dialed you in, he's very generous with info. If he puts that location on the forum, there will be a 100 guys on his spot.
  2. I bought a replacement Tm battery from battery Warehouse in Rogers that Champ mentions. Even though the original didn't come from there, they honored the pro-rated warranty no questions asked. Good folks to deal with.
  3. Hmmm, I wonder if it's a show that does a lot of underwater filming....
  4. Over 90 lbs.? That would be something. I hear ripping those Traps out of grass is a popular technique on that lake. Sounds like a lot of fun.
  5. This is like Babe Ruth calling that home run.
  6. Yeah crazy windy today, I didn't even think of going fishing.
  7. Great story, good on Buster! I'd like to know what show it is just so I can watch it, but I guess if you name the show, we'll be able to figure out who the host is.
  8. Thanks Hazbin, I'm fortunate to be retired and can put time in on the water, I'm just an average hack, guys like Bill Babler and some of the regulars that have been fishing that area for a while can always remind me of how much more I have to learn. You must have seen someone else, I was out of the water at 1:30. I've got a black/silver Phoenix with a 200 Opti. Feel free to stop by and say hi if you see me out there.
  9. Thanks for the report, that's a good day. I didn't catch a single spot yesterday.
  10. Yep what Bill says, if you can find them, there may be more than one. Also there were a lot of boats up the White yesterday, it's getting hit hard.
  11. It looks to me they are on a path to the NCAA"s, who knows, they get in and get the right match ups where their guards can shine, hit those threes, they could win a game or three.
  12. That's one of the glaring problems with college hoops these days, the one and done or two and done mentality of top players. It's so tough to build a team out of players that are going to stay 4 years and be a winning program. The top recruits see college hoops as a stepping stone to the NBA. It would be interesting to follow one of the top recruits through the recruiting process and record the spiels the coaches give them. I'd love to hear Calipari's spiel.
  13. I'm not sure I want to go out and equip myself with all the little rig stuff. I am thinking it may be about time to break out the finesse jig.
  14. Best depth was around 20 feet. I didn't see any shad yesterday either in the water or on the finder. No bird activity either.
  15. I can see if you were in downtown Springfield and whizzing on the sidewalk, that a ticket would be in order, but hard to believe they would write up a couple of guys whizzing in the woods.
  16. Wow, some nice trout!
  17. Man that is a beast of a bow!
  18. I T-rig also, well Texpose, with the hook point exposed just out of the skin. I believe in that pic, the weight is under the fish. I'm using 3/0 hooks, Mustad Big Mouth tube hooks, with a 3/8 oz weight. The bites, for the most part, are very light and hard to detect. If you miss the bite, they drop it.
  19. I launched out of Big M at 0700 this morning and fished until 1 PM. Did find a bite, I fished a point on a cove mouth that had some deep trees and caught 10 bass off that one point. All but one came on a tube, the exception came on a Megabass 110. Fished a whole lot of other places and only caught 2 more bass, those 2 came from inside a cove off a rocky bank. All the bass were largemouth, no spots or smallies. Nothing big, 13-16" fish. I saw Mr. Babler out there and talked to him for a bit (nice meeting you Bill). He had caught some fish and I believe he said one of them was 6 lbs. Hopefully he'll have time to give us an update. Water temp - 38-40 degrees.
  20. Obviously camera shy.
  21. That do look tasty!
  22. Great eagle pics, always love to see them. I believe those quackers are Buffleheads.
  23. Just got this info in an email from the ODFW - If you're interested you can go to their website and sign up to receive upland bird updates via email. I've been thinking about heading over to western OK one of these years and hunting the WMA's. They're a bit high on the non-res small game license, $155 or so which is one reason why I've never done it. Quail research ongoing as data continues to mount Biologists continue to evaluate northern bobwhite quail on western Oklahoma wildlife management areas. The tools and technology being used by biologists is allowing for up-to-date research and tracking opportunities. Each report from research being conducted on western Oklahoma WMAs adds to a growing database of information that researchers hope will bring about increased insight into the movements and mortality of quail across their home range. According to the January report of the Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, researchers on the Beaver WMA have 56 birds "on the air," or birds that are being tracked via telemetry. Of those birds, 31 are bobwhites and 25 are scaled quail. During late December and early January, 31 losses were recorded. Of those, 11 were due to mammalian predation; nine were unknown; six were due to avian predation; four were due to collar failure; and one bird was harvested. Weather may potentially impact quail at Beaver WMA, since about 12 inches of snow has been on the ground since the end of January. To date, researchers have collected over 100 wings from harvested birds via the wing collection boxes, suggesting that hunter effort and success increased compared to last year. Radio-tracking of birds continues. On Packsaddle WMA, researchers are currently tracking 52 bobwhite quail. During January, 18 radio-collared bobwhites were lost. Of those, eight were attributed to raptor predation; two to mammalian predation; three to unknown predation; three to either unknown predation or collar failure; and two to harvest. Thirty-three wings were collected from harvested bobwhites. Of those, 15 were juvenile males, two were adult males, 14 were juvenile females, and two were adult females. Radio-tracking for the purpose of monitoring bobwhite movement is ongoing. Genetics research continues on Packsaddle WMA Lab analysis of northern bobwhite samples has been completed, and researchers are currently waiting for some scaled quail samples to arrive. They anticipate that the scaled quail primers will be developed within the month and that analysis of those samples will follow. A paper titled "Extra-pair paternity, intra-specific nest parasitism, and brood amalgamation in northern bobwhite" was presented at the Joint Annual Meeting of Oklahoma Chapters of The Wildlife Society and Society for Range Management in January.
