  1. Fat, very fat!
  2. Did not throw the swimbait much. Caught a couple of smallies that were spitting up shad, so I bet it would work. The dock is positioned well and there's not a lot of ramp left to back down. Much easier walk back to the truck. 😀 Lots more rec boats out there.
  3. Great deal, but I have soooo many JB's.
  4. Family is in town this week, took my nephew over to Beaver today. Good early bite on 5/16 oz jigs, we caught 20-25 smallmouth this morning. Majority of the bites were before 0930. The smallmouth have moved off the bank for the most part, we were getting them in 10-20 FOW. Some scattered stripers on top, they were up early, but by 0700 or so the activity stopped. Must be a bazillion cicadas back in the woods, lots of noise. Still have yet to see one, they seem to be staying back in the woods. WT 71.
  5. From AGFC: Redear Sunfish Thriving in Bull Shoals Lake During spring sampling on Bull Shoals Lake, biologists observed good populations of Redear Sunfish, some measuring up to 12 inches. These sunfish, named for the striking red flap on their gill coverings, prefer spawning beds located on pea gravel pockets and points. Late spring is an excellent time of year to catch Redear Sunfish. Anglers can successfully catch them using various baits such as red wiggler worms, crickets, and fly fishing gear. Redear Sunfish are also commonly called "Shellcrackers" due to their appetite for mussels and snails. Considering the presence of Zebra Mussels in Bull Shoals Lake, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocked Redear Sunfish into the lake in 2015, 2016, and 2018 in hopes they would take advantage of the abundant mussels. Judging by current observations, the Redear Sunfish population is thriving in Bull Shoals Lake!
  6. As long as it is in a bait fishing zone, I don't know why you could not fish them. Years ago I used to fish a grasshopper on a light hook behind a clear float. The float is mainly for casting weight, the hopper would stay on top. Might work with a cicada.
  7. Sorry to heat that. Hopefully is something relatively benign and treatable.
  8. Those Taney trout are going to be fat, first shad and now Cicadas.

Dang, ticks, chiggers, wasps, and now we gotta deal with these things?
  10. There are a few places at the Big M COE park (Table Rock) where you can bank fish. A point that is to the left of the swimming area and there's a flat to the right of the swimming area. I would not expect a lot of bites, but there are always some spotted bass and panfish around. Might even be a walleye off that point.
  11. I guess they are determined to hold TR at 917. I'm sure they have good reasons, but you'd think they'd run the generators full out to get what it basically free electricity instead of sending water over the spillway.
  12. Nice fish!
  13. Very neat to see that stream, never have been there. Bigger than I thought.
  14. Have yet to see Cicada one. It's ominously quiet here...
  15. Way to go guys and thanks for the report!
  16. My dad was into the vocalists. Righteous Brothers, Andy Williams, and several others I can't remember. I listen to my Righteous Bros CD every once in a while, those guys could sing. Always been a rock and roll fan up to and including the Grunge years. Closest I can come to CW is Charley Daniels. He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys He may look dumb but that's jus a disguise He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage They all started lookin' real suspicious at him And he jumped up an' said jes' wait a minute Jim You know he's lyin' I've been livin' here all of my life I'm a faithfull follower of Brother John Burch And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church And I ain't even got a garage you can call home and ask my wife Then he started sayin' somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed But I didn't wait around to hear the rest I was too busy movin' and hopin' I didn't run outta luck
  17. Launched at Indian around 6 AM, things are getting busy there, the campgrounds are open and people like me coming in for a day of fishing. The winter solitude is over. There's some scattered striper top water activity over by Point 1. Not a lot, but worth chasing if you're into it. The first 4 or 5 blowups I had missed the bait, finally got an 8 lber. that hooked up. That was it, once the sun came up, the top water activity pretty much ceased. The smallmouth appear to be done spawning, they have left a lot of the banks I have been catching them on. There were a few here and there, but nothing like last week. My best bite was throwing a UV Speed Craw on a c-rig on points. Something back in the woods making a lot of noise, I suspect cicadas, but never saw one.
  18. Spotted bass and smallies appear to be done with spawning, don't know about the largemouth. Shad have been spawning for at least a week. It seems all the spawning activity was fast forwarded a couple of weeks this year.
  19. Probably thinking that now we have to clean a bunch of fish. 😀 Nice bag of fish Seth!
  20. It was definitely a day where we worked for them. However, it beats staying at home and watching soap operas. I did take a pic, for Pete and JF @snagged in outlet 3 @Johnsfolly
  21. That's a very nice walter!
  22. Tomorrow AM is looking decent as far as weather. I'm going to Table Rock to fish out of Dutch's boat tomorrow, but I bet they will be biting tomorrow on Beaver. If there's enough rain to get water running in the back of the coves, that's where I'd go.
  23. Have not seen one around here so far.
