  1. I'm not a serious tourney fisherman, but if I was, I would have FFS and would learn how to use it. Having it does not guarantee success in a tourney, but if you don't have it, you are competing against guys that have it and know how to use it.
  2. That's pretty neat, never have seen one myself except for hatchery golden rainbows.
  3. A lot of that going on lately.
  4. Yeah buddy, gotta fish before we go back to Siberia mode.
  5. I went back today. Bankers hours again, got to the ramp at 9 AM and left a bit after 3 PM. When I got to the ramp, parked my truck and got out to prep the boat, and I hear the noise of a top water bite down by the water. looked down there and almost right on the bank there were shad being chased by fish. Grabbed my Keitech setup off the boat and headed down there. First cast, fish whacks it and it turns out to be a 2.5 lb. largemouth. Took it up to the truck for a photo, took it down to the lake and released it. Made a cast to the same spot and caught a 14" smallmouth. At that point, whatever happened, at least I wasn't going to get skunked. Bite was good again today, caught 25 bass, 7 were keepers, 5 came on the Keitech and all of them were out in front of the ramp, and the others were Ned fish back in Indian - rocky, timbered points again. Biggest fish was a smallie that was almost 18".
  6. A few years ago a couple of teenage brothers were breaking into vehicles parked at one of the ramps. They finally got caught in the act, the garage in their parents house was filled with stuff they had stolen. Parents were oblivious. When I lived in Washington, there was a hiking trail not too far from my house, I had a cheap 2D sonar unit that I would unplug from my boat at the end of the day and toss it on the front seat. It was beat, connection corroded from the salt, but it still worked. came back from the hike, driver side window broken, sonar gone. Didn't really miss the sonar, which was completely worthless especially without the transducer, but was annoyed at the broken window. Numbskulls!
  7. Glad you are coming!
  8. OK, I will take that into consideration.
  9. When I was in the 1st grade, three kids decided they were going to beat on me. They had me pinned against a fence, one kid holding an arm on each side, and the third kid approaching saying something like "I am going to punch you out". When he got within range I kicked him right in the groin, Down goes Frazier! The other 2 kids ran off. Never had an issue with those 3 again.
  10. Ness, we've got to make judgement calls sometimes on what is acceptable and not everyone is going to agree with us. There's lots of gray area and I would say that we will err on the side of being "easy" rather than being harsh. Bad language posts will get whacked, and don't talk politics. I don't think there is a restriction on talking about religion - but religion is certainly a topic that sometimes generates some strong replies, some of which can get personal. I have not seen very many personal attacks lately, I think in that department we're doing a lot better than we were in the past. Grits - Now that is a topic that needs to be banned! I hate grits. In Army basic training, I ate everything, I was hungry the whole time, the only thing I would not eat were grits.
  11. Fished bankers hours today, 0930 to 3:30 PM. Late start as I like to wait until the temp gets above freezing. The Ned bite was pretty good today. Took me a while to find them, but once I did they were biting pretty well. Rocky points with trees were the best location, fish were in 10-20 FOW. I did fish a crank for a while, only had one bite on it. Water is the clearest I have seen it in several years. By the Indian creek launch you can see bottom in 20 feet and up in the creek channel itself it drops to maybe 15 feet, but it is still pretty clear. I had quite a few fish bite the Ned on the fall today which I attribute to the visibility and the fish being able to see it from a distance. Caught 20, with 7 keepers. WT 47. A keeper for each species.
  12. Thanks for the report, I am looking for a chance to get out this week. Have to break out the winter clothes again, I miss that 75 degree weather we had last week.
  13. I have one myself, might give it a whirl tomorrow on Beaver. Held the bill up to the bill on Crawler. Looks pretty much the same except the Wart bill is just a shade bigger.
  14. They have come out with a "Deep" Wart. Basically a Wart with a bigger bill. Haven't fished one myself.
  15. No sir, another Tom.
  16. Sorry to hear that, I know some fishermen that live on that end of the lake and I'll ask them to keep an eye out.
  17. Haven't heard anything about it, or heard any one mention it.
  18. Cool, I'll bring some cash with me, I can always use a few more jigs. Do you have any that are GP/Blue/Orange?
  19. Due to cold weather March 12, we have decided to move the OA One Bass Tourney to March 19, weigh in and meet up will still be at Eagle Rock. Tourney time will change slightly because of time change. 7 AM - 2 PM.
  20. They are around here, but rarely do I see one.
  21. Let's move it to the 19th, Mike will get the permits changed. Latest forecast shows a low in the teens next Saturday with a bit of a north wind thrown in. Brrrrr....
  22. I fished yesterday with a guy that is almost 79. He is starting to have some issues, but he hung in there well. Living here in Bella Vista with a lot of old folks around, if you can still be fishing on your own, launching a boat and all that comes with it when you hit 75, you are doing well. Don't let yourself get fat as you age, most, if not all the guys still out there in their 70's, are not fat.
  23. We are now that you mention it. Phil texted me this AM, with a forecast of 15 degrees to start the day Saturday. Might have to shoot for moving it back a week.
