  1. Do a search on Upper Illinois river fishing, there's a few videos.
  2. Hamner is going to be tough to catch. The guys chasing him are going to need to catch some good fish to catch him now that he has an 8 lb. lead.
  3. Great looking fish!
  4. The wind is going to make things interesting today.
  5. An old school feel to this one for sure. Huff was zeroed until 11 AM or so, but has recovered to get back in 2nd.
  6. I have watched some of the live coverage this morning and there are fish being caught on the jerker. Some cranking going on too.
  7. He's from Ava MO. Fished The Rock quite a bit from what they are saying. I don't know him at all, but I'll be rooting for him. It's a tight one on Grand for the Classic, lots of different stuff being thrown at the fish, and the fish appear to be shallow for the most part. Weather is a factor too, cold front came in overnight and looks to be pretty windy tomorrow.
  8. When I trolled Bandits for crappie I could count on catching a cat every time out.
  9. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) confirms George Chance of Festus is the latest state record holder after catching a massive 97-pound bighead carp from the Mississippi River. Chance was bank fishing for catfish with a bottom-bouncing crankbait when he hooked into the fish March 19. The previous pole-and-line state record was an 80-pound fish caught from the Lake of the Ozarks in 2004. “You kind of know what a fish is once you hook into it based on how it fights,” Chance said. “It was moving pretty slow and I originally thought it could be a flathead.” Chance was fighting with the fish for around 20 minutes before he finally got it onto the shore. “The more it fought, I saw it’s tail and knew it was some type of carp,” he recalled. “I was able to hook him with a hay hook in order to get him out of the water. It looked to be 50 or 60 pounds at least.” Chance took the monster fish to a nearby recycling center to use their scale, which prompted him to call his local conservation agent. “They told me it was a state record, and I said, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’”, he laughed. “Then later they said ‘It’s not just a state record, it’s a world record!’ and I said ‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’ I had no idea this would happen would I woke up that morning.” Chance’s catch is the third state record fish recorded for 2024. The fish also beats the current bighead carp pole-and-line world record of 90-pounds. “I chopped up the fish and put it in my garden,” Chance said. “I’m going to eat it in the form of tomatoes and cucumbers.”

  20. Beaver Elite (Not to be confused with BASS Elite) kickoff tourney was Saturday also. Winner had 23 lbs, and change which is a good bag for Beaver. No idea what he was tossing.
  21. A biggun: EFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The 2024 paddlefish snagging season is off to a great start after an angler reeled in a world record fish at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) congratulates Chad Williams of Olathe, Kansas for snagging a 164-pound, 13-ounce paddlefish at the Lake of the Ozarks March 17. The fish not only breaks the previous state record of 140 pounds, but also the previous world record of 164 pounds. “I was lucky enough to get invited to go out snagging with friends,” Williams said. “I’d never been snagging before. Never seen a paddlefish – didn’t even know what it was!” Shortly into the snagging trip, Williams hooked into something massive. “I was thinking I was extremely weak because it was taking so long to reel in. My body was aching,” he recalled. After the fish made it onto the boat, the group immediately knew it was a record. They later met MDC Fisheries and Protection staff at Three Brothers Meat Company in Montreal to weigh the fish on a certified scale. This makes the second state record caught in 2024.
