  1. Glad that guy got out of there, bet that water comes up fast when those gates open.
  2. I think that would be a good idea, go back to stocking walleye fingerlings on an annual basis.
  3. We're still on, the forecast I see says a chance of showers after noon. Breezy, temps rising into the 50's - could be some good fishing!
  4. Fished one of the Bella Vista lakes this afternoon and at the ramp there is a fish cleaning station and a couple of guys were cleaning fish so I walked over to see what they had. They had just come back from the upper White and had a few white bass and one walleye. They've been fishing the walleye run up there for years and they were saying they have never seen the amount of pressure they are seeing now. Houseman and Holiday island parking is full with people parking on the road. Bank to bank boats. And there's a walleye tourney this weekend. put on by one of the resorts up there, 1st place is $1K so they'll probably get some participation. Walleye tourneys are not catch and release. I don't know if long term the walleye can handle this kind of pressure. I guess we'll find out.
  5. Yep, they told me they targeted them around March 15.
  6. That's pretty neat. My SE MO grandad used gold Aberdeen hooks for his minnows when he crappie fished. Fly rod, cork, split shot and a minnow about 2-3 feet under the cork. He'd dip and drag that rig around trees and cypress knees. I did it too when fishing with him, except I had a cane pole. It was so much fun as a 10 year old seeing that cork get pulled down.
  7. Looks very clean, congrats!
  8. Very disappointing loss to Kentucky at home. Can't hit threes, can't hit layups, can't shoot free throws. A couple of the guys that were projected as 1st round NBA picks aren't even close to being ready to play in the NBA.
  9. It's just background noise from a spinner bait fisherman, jealousy makes them mean. 😀 And that reminds me, I have a copy of Spinnerbaits for Dummies that I will give him next time I see him. He'll find it full of useful info.
  10. Way to go Lance, nice bunch of crappie!
  11. The Kings river gauge, located in Berryville, jumped from 1,000 CFS to 16,000 CFS and it is still rising.
  12. Got checked for the first time in Arkansas after 15 years of fishing here. Been checked 4 or 5 times on Table Rock. Have not had any issues.
  13. This is the time of the year that you have a shot at a really good bass.
  14. Speaking of Spro jerkers, they have come out with a +1 version. And they have it in Blue Bandit. I have not fished one yet. Lately I stink at fishing jerkbaits, used to kill them on jerkers but I have lost my mojo.
  15. That's a great day, congrats!
  16. Hawgs have to win this one, or they may not be dancing later this month unless they win the SEC tourney. I didn't know Mizzou was seeded so high, but good for them, I'll be rooting for them in the Big Dance unless they are playing against some of my other favorites.
  17. I use Maxima Ultragreen also. Used to use 8lb and sometimes 6 lb. when fishing for summer steelhead. Never had any issues with it. Used it trolling for king salmon, 17 lb. test and again no issues. I use it for top water striper fishing (15 lb.) on Beaver. And I use it for any bass fishing where I use mono. It is good mono.
  18. Anyone been pinched by a helgy? I haven't, but always kept an eye on those pinchers.
  19. Hasn't been seen in the eastern US in 50 years. Rare insect found at Arkansas Walmart sets historic record, prompts mystery | Penn State University (psu.edu)
  20. Let's give it a few days, but as of right now there is not a reschedule date. I'll leave it up to majority vote about rescheduling.
  21. No smallmouth or means yesterday. Caught a couple of short walleye and couple of short largemouth, but everything else was Kentucks. I'm not going to throw the rig, nothing against those that do, but I don't like fishing it.
  22. Went back yesterday, good bite again for Kentucks, caught a couple dozen mainly on the Ned with a few Keitech fish. It got pretty windy about 10 AM and that pretty much shut down the catching for me. Tried a crank for a bit in the wind, but no bites. Heard of a 6.7 that was caught yesterday on the Roll Tide rig.
  23. Pretty good article from a small paper. When I went over the bridge I saw someone out in the river with a headlight and I assumed they were etting there to claim the spot, then read in that article that people were getting out there at 1 AM to get their spot. It is an event for sure.
  24. I drove through there about 6 AM on my way to Table Rock. The parking lot at the admin bldg. was packed, vehicles on the road waiting to get in, vehicles lined up to get out. Might have been a news truck parked there too, but I couldn't look around too much. Campground looked to be full. Hope everyone there had fun.
  25. Fished with Dutch today, we launched at Big M about 0630 and fished until 1245. Air temp was 36 when we launched and 71 when we got back. Really nice day and the wind didn't get up until after we left. The fishing was decent, we boated 36 bass total, 7 or 8 keepers, a couple of 3 lbers one a spot and the other a smalls. First two fish we caught were smallmouth and after that it was Kentucky time, we caught one largemouth and what looked to be a meanmouth but the rest were spots. Most fish were off steep banks and points with rocks and trees. Most were on Ned rigs. We caught maybe 4 on 2.8 Keitechs on gravel. I had some issues with fish-get-off-itis, I bet I hooked at least 8 that seemed to be hooked but got off. Had a lot of very light bites that would load up a bit, then drop it. Dutch had a pretty good sized fish on for a few seconds that got off that we never saw. WT ranged from 46 early to 50 when we left.
