Sell it. This is first year I have a surplus over what friends and family use.

I finished out the honey extraction on Sat, took 7 hours to do the honey off the hives at the house. Ended up with 15 gallons from the house, total harvest over 30 gallons this year. My best yet. A few pounds of bees wax from the cappings too. I have 2 small crock pots to melt that down in.

Even a felon can own a black powder firearm. Not considered a weapon. I was in Wally last night to buy some feared handgun ammo to feed my short barrelled black handgun AR. They still have plenty and should until they deplete all their warehouses. I made conversation with the gun clerk, asked him about the Henry Rifles he had behind him on display. What Caliber?? UH, 44, 357, and 45 colt, all handgun cartridges in a rifle designed to hunt with. HMM, gonna have guns with no bullets to sell? Did not think that out very well. Several 223 bolt action rifles on the shelves. If you follow the logic, they will soon stop selling Cellphones. Stupid people misuse them every day and kill people. Prescription Opioids will be off the table in the pharmacy, people sell those and deaths occur. Sodas and other sugary foods will be off the shelves, people are killing themselves with obesity and Wally is full of the waddlers and scooters full of them also. When they quit selling all of that stuff, we will all be safer.

SOLD. Ruger LCR 22 WMR Double-Action Magnum Revolver (pic added)
jdmidwest replied to Will S.'s topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Someone on here may contact you. Walk around the next gunshow with it and it may sell. All my revolvers have a hammer on them, for accuracy shots. I suck at double action. Can't hit a snakes head without pulling the hammer back. -

How does it shoot? That is one series that I have not owned or fired. -
My favorite rule in all the box stores, the manager escorts me out after purchase of a firearm carrying the purchased firearm. Meanwhile I am carrying my handgun and spare mag in my waistband. Kinda redundant. At least they feel safe.

Wally has always had a knee jerk reaction to events. Back in the 80's, some joker walked in and bought a gun and ammo at the gun counter and shot someone on the way out. That created the policy where a manager escorts you out the door if you buy a gun from them. Then there was a handgun incident somewhere that led to them not selling handguns any more. Then Sandy Hook and the guy bought a Bushmaster at Wally I think, fire sale on black rifles and they quit selling them, quietly. Now a shooting in Texas at a Wally and another big show in Springfield with a guy walking in openly carrying, legally, but stupidly. Bye bye ammo. And now they will confront you if you are openly, legally carrying a firearm. Academy has better pricing on ammo anyway. And a better selection. Wally is going away. Just like Sears, Kmart, and many other. Soon, nobody will walk in to anywhere and shop. All done on the net.

Missed that one. Been out of duck for 3 years due to cancer. Just getting back in this year. How did that work out??

Wonder how they will define handgun ammo. I have rifles that shoot 9mm, 44, 45 acp, and .357.

The zones have not changed in my life time. Boundry lines have been in the same place. But the Seasons are adjusted somewhat. There was a push a few years back to split the season. Just like Illinois, it seems to pattern the migration events better. The management wants to protect the populations, and they do well at it. Atlantic flyway had decreased the mallard limit this year because of populations in that flyway. Mississippi flyway has been pretty well the same since the point system of old. Wood ducks have increased, mallards the same, and some divers have went down. Still plenty of coots to fill your bag if you find them. They have decreased in numbers since I have been hunting.
-
Most ducks fly south in early November, right when they shut down for deer season. South zone still closed for that migration. Then mallards come down as stuff freezes up north late Dec about the time middle zone closes. The zones follow roads as reference points, but have no real bearing on migration. Illinois has an early and a late season that works better with the migration pattern above. But alot depends on weather each year.

2 stroke “low hours” ?
jdmidwest replied to Will S.'s topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I would have to second that. My 9.5 Evinrude 2 stroker is older than I am. -
I am sure Garmin is working on it right now.

Early Fall fungus pickin'
jdmidwest replied to fishinwrench's topic in New News and General Discussion
The ones at Devio and next to Nea may be close. Fall mushrooms suck. That is better time to fish than stomp in woods collecting ticks and fighting spiders. Morels are easy and weather is cooler. Unless you like to waste time on crappie, most fishing still sucks. -

Fungii. Beware of lower right. -
Everybody cries about the smallies getting stabbed, but many trout get gigged also. I was fly fishing below Montauk down by the turd ponds one nice fall day. This family of hoosiers came dragging a 12' boat up stream from Tan Vat. The women folk, at least they looked female in a crude sort of way, were all in the boat and the males were pulling and pushing the boat. They beached the boat, dropped the women off, then took the boat back in the hole. Some thru rocks to drive the fish toward the boat and yes, there was a trout stabbed, but let go. Good ole Missouri Catch and Release. Quite the circus. I notified local warden, told me that was all legal, move along, nothing to worry about. As long as they stay below the wire.

The trick is to not get shot accessing most of the smaller streams. Most are private land. And coming back to a complete mode of transportation. Be sure and get permission first. Delorme made an app for android a few years back that works offline. I have downloaded topo quads and aerials to it for navigation on a cheap Samsung Tracphone I picked up at Wally World. Added a 128g SD card and have maps on it. Gps works great and has compass feature. Decent battery and screen, far better than most dedicated gps handheld units. Its not my phone and only $40 so it is expendable but has worked well for several years now. Takes pics, videos, plays music, and surfs web too with wifi. I have the app on 2 tablets also, a 7" and 10" for car and in home scouting.

Catching Lake of the Ozarks bass in September
jdmidwest replied to John Neporadny Jr.'s topic in Lake of the Ozarks
We hit Brown in a cove on Pickwick last winter while wearing bibs to keep warm. The creek that runs in had blew a big gravel bar in the channel we normally run. I saw the pebbles poking thru the top of the water before I alerted the captain. We beached it good and got wet getting it off. Fun afternoon -

Brown Jet Wash usually leads to pushing and shoving.... -
Duck zones protect the ducks during peak movement times. Then they cater to the deer hunters when they shut down for deer season.

Holitna River Float Trip with Bill and Phil
jdmidwest replied to Bill Babler's topic in U.S.A. - Alaska
Nice. I have to go back sometime. Grayling is on my bucket list. And maybe a Sheefish. I love Dollies, they are really fun on the fly. -
I have been fishing whacky rigged lately. Takes another tool and an O ring. More tackle to carry, but has been working well. Been experimenting with different color nails, bought some gold ones to try next time out.

How many rivers have you floated the whole thing?

Nice thing about the yak, don't have to worry about the other guy.
