Did they ever find the guys that stole the guns?
-
Pet Test yesterday showed possible cancer in lymph node in non radiated side of neck yesterday. 5 months after radiation and just started feeling better from it. Doctor visit went well otherwise, my speech, eating, swallowing, and taste have returned to almost normal. They were surprised about that. I was surprised because they said there was a minimal chance of damage and they expected me to be much worse. Biopsy scheduled on anniversary of first surgery. A time that I really wanted to celebrate 2 years of free and clear last year at this time. So much has changed in the last 12 months. Back to pins and needles and that quesy feeling in the stomach waiting for results. Probably won't get results until after Thanksgiving. I am fighting a cold, it could have been that causing the flare up. Doctor said it is not where he would expect it to be next if it is cancer. There is hope that this is a false alarm. But after going thru all of this the last few years, I am ready for anything and will beat this one out too. I still have all options to attack it with, chemo, radiation, and surgery because I did not use chemo this last time. Prayers are needed and appreciated, again.

Isis? Missouri Carpfisher Society?

I am wondering why this shows up in a Nationwide gun blog, but not in local news?
-
Yep. That is a lot of guns that could end up in the wrong hands. The reward has nothing to do with insurance.

Has anyone near Springfield seen any reports of this? I did pick this off a news feed. You would think someone would be squealing about it locally. I guess it could happen any where. Any major retailer could be a target around Black Friday, hunting season, or anytime they send out a major flyer. Just jog down to UPS with a forklift and load up a few days before.

Hard to say, need to look at sale bill next week to see for sure what was in shipment. Could have been a range of rifles to handguns.

http://www.guns.com/2017/11/02/atf-offers-25000-for-information-about-guns-stolen-from-ups-facility-in-missouri/ There is a reward out for the culprits that stole a bunch of guns stolen from a UPS facility in Springfield that were being shipped to Bass Pro Shops. Pretty brazen theft.

I am passing on ducks this year. Still too weak to wade thru mud, get up at 1 am., and lay out all day in the freezing water. I plan on fishing instead. Its been too dry around here for ducks anyway.

Tent Mattress
jdmidwest replied to Dustin.Sellers's topic in Lodging, Camping, Kayaking and Caoneing
I keep a GI Duffle bag at the back door with my camp in it. The contents are a 30 degree bag, 50 degree bag/liner bag, lightweight 3 season tent, ground tarp, full size and half size thermarest mattress, and a full size pillow. If my trip requires camping, I just grab it and go. I am covered for most temps and weather situations in this area. If I need to take it floating, just stuff the bags into a dry bag. Most trips I camp out of a truck or run stuff out in a jet boat, so it stays in the duffle. I tend to stack the mats like Al does, the double mats help insulate from ground temps in your core body also. -
Godaddy or Wordpress and make your own. Godaddy will let you build and host at the same time.

Nothing to stop them from going upstream. Any river that connects to the Mississippi should be affected. Only a dam could slow them down.

Tent Mattress

I use thermarest mattress myself. They pack down well and air up quick with a few breaths. Otherwise, it is air matresses and a DC powered inflator when the family comes along. -
I would only rate those as a Corvette.......

Nasty looking tattoos on the arms ruin the beauty of that motion pic.

Wow, I never had that at Barnes/Siteman. Appts were on time and not rushed. Walked in several times with problems and saw doctor or on call one in 20 minutes. All friendly and helpful. Head nurses worked with me on phone or email. Amazing how care varies from place to place.

Call a taxidermy shop. They should be able to tell you.

It does take time to recover, mine took 4 months to start to feel like I did going in. But I have noticed they tend to lump all patients into a big pool. I think it is because they have seen so many and just average things out. Every case is different. Every human body is different and they seem to have lost touch with that. They have a protocol they follow, like a flow chart. It is a system that you just have to have some faith in. I am coming up on my first PET Scan in 2 weeks. They hold off for a reason. The PET relies on normal cells and cancer cells and the amount of radioactive tagged glucose they take up in the normal cell process of feeding. Cancer cells take it in faster and flare up when the scan happens and show up against the normal cells. They are waiting for your body to stabilize from the damage of the radiation. Regenerating cells may flare up and give a false reading. Part of the hesitation on PET test is the expense, insurance does not like to pay for it unless it is necessary. And it is a big dose of radiation to the body that really could cause more cancer down the road. You really should avoid it at all costs, but they have to use it. Frustration was probably the worst part of the whole ordeal. I tend to be more patient and work things thru. But I felt I should be getting better faster and tried to speed things up. Alot of my recovery support was thru emails to cancer docs or calls to my personal physician who I was fishing with each week of recovery. I set several balls in motion, lymphodema and speech therapies to help with swallowing and muscle damage in neck were started by me. I have seen a cancer doc once since I left treatments in June. But, in the end, it takes time for the radiation to stop killing and the body to heal. It does get better. Make sure you get lots of fluid and proteins to help the process. Try to get out and do something every day. Keep positive.

4 Months Out, 4 lb 11 oz Smallie
jdmidwest replied to jdmidwest's topic in General Angling Discussion
I have had some normal days again in the past week. Left out at 3 yesterday and fished till dark and still had plenty of energy to enjoy food and a few beers after we got off the water. The radiation keeps on doing damage after the treatments stop. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to turn for the better, but it did. I have had a great medical staff to help me thru. Today was a different critter. 3 foot swells on the lake this morning and we pulled off after about an hour dealing with that. Dropped in the river and caught a few small ones before we finally bailed and headed for home. The wind was just brutal. -
4 months away from radiation and things are approaching normal again. Most effects gone. Still have dry mouth and goofy taste buds. Neck stiff and speech weaker and slurred. Weight and strength coming back. Kicked cancer in butt again and kissing it goodbye. Back on TN River today and had a good day. I had been tossing back 14-16 in smallies and holding leader board over my two companions. Then one pulled ahead of me with a nice 18" 3 1/4 lb smallie. Not to be outdone, I worked this one up. Best smallie so far, 20" and 4 lb 11 oz. He fell to a flicker shad just before dark. Nice end to a wonderful day.

Had I been sitting still in full camo in the woods, he would have spooked 80 yards out. It was funny, several people passed me. He must have been a local oddity that other knew about. I did not want him in the cab of my new company truck, but if I had a camper shell.....

Ran across this feller today on a street in town. He was just standing in middle of road and I pulled alongside. He pecked hubcaps. Ran alongside truck. Followed me down street a half block. I shot some video if I can figure out how to post.

Love My Nails Platinum worked good. I used some fauceted beads instead of plain round ones with success.
-
I was using 6 and 8 mm ones when I was up there. I also have dozens of other egg patterns that never really did the trick like a pegged bead. I will have to try them. Must be an instinctive bite pattern.

Snows were moving down the Mississippi all day today in big flocks. Colder weather on the way.
