  1. Ibuprofen works better for me when my casting arm gets sore. Did you catch any? Doves have been back roosting in my pines for over a week, signs of spring is coming.
  2. Per Valentine tradition, 2 rows spinach, 1 row ruby red, and 1 row salad bowl lettuce in ground. Asparagus beds cleared off. 4 active bee hives. 63 today and sunny. Thick pork breaks on grill
  3. Interesting place, basically a wooded walking trail system thru Karst sinkholes, cave collapse, and natural arch remaining of cave roof. Not real open for viewing the sky, 20 car park lot.
  4. Bring a pontoon and we can all sit on Wappappello Lake and watch and fish.
  5. I have never been there when it was. You could watch it at Lasseters ramp on Spring River in town and trout fish at Thayer. You never know who are what will be promoting it. I will probably be watching thru the windshield of my work car, it's on a Tuesday. Last time I was on leave for cancer and just was outside working on the boat if I remember. I think Poplar Bluff is going to have the longest duration of totality from what I hear. The farm is about 25 miles up the line of the path and work near Cape Girardeau on same line. I will be at best point no matter what that day.
  6. That is pretty well the line. The farm is in the path. Poplar Bluff and Perryville are having big events all day. Looks like Grand Gulf will be in it too. I watched the 2017 one from the front yard, similar path. Birds stopped chirping, everything got still.
  7. Lots of mistakes in this game. That little gal in the bleacher distracting all of them. Whats her name, the cowboy singer?
  8. I always liked the blue ones.
  9. Didn't anyone get out and enjoy the nice weather today? Fishing blowed on the Current River yesterday at Doniphan. Lots of really shorts and a 12" walleye. Cloudy, damp, and chilly all day. But peaceful and minimal crowds. Today, Sun was out and nice for most of the day. Worked at farm all day.
  10. Firewood?
  11. What's the weather forecast for that weekend?
  12. But I needed a prop wrench for the bass boat. Trying to find the one tool for both.
  13. Got one today in the mail. Wrench too big for the prop nut on my 50. No use for a 9/16 drain plug wrench. Give it a try on Current River this weekend on Sat. if I end up skipping the foot in rocks. Never seem to make a run without kissing the shoal somewhere, even down by Doniphan. If not, my buddy may end up with it. Prop wrench may fit his 150.
  14. Seems to work. If you would have hit a 2lb cat, that would be a game changer.
  15. It was getting hairy below 160 last summer. Trees falling over into the channel that you had to run under just right. Big stump yard at end of big field about a mile down been real goofy the last few years, constantly changing. The narrows around the springs were kinda tricky too.
  16. Now you have went and done it, I have not made my own rod yet. I had a custom St Croix Spin Rod made up by a friend of mine. He placed a size 32 wet fly in the rod epoxy near the grip. It was an ultralite and I broke the tip off and retired it to the closet of old friends. Started a Fly Rod project that I bought at flea market that someone else started, never got anywhere with it, think its in the same closet. Much like the desire to build an RC plane, cast my own jigs and bullets for muzzleloader, and crafting my own beers. Even tried to taxidermy a drake mallard with 3 curls that I killed one season, that kit still sits and the bird long freezer burnt and gone. But I could do a rod. I have an old Herters rod wrapper and some thread. My epoxy is probably dried out. If I only had more time.
  17. How far did you run up, all the way to Riverton? River looks pretty good, better than back in the summer and fall. I guess the boat took it well?
  18. The best thing about the 11pt area is a total lack of cell service for miles around. Give him time.
  19. Should be a good day. Almost got mine out of mothballs. Too much to do at farm, those cold weekends set me back.
  20. Makes us human. Not like a bunch of FBook animals. My cancer doc says his kids eat it on pancakes. Never tried it on either. I cook with it, mix with whiskey, eat it on biscuits.
  21. Busy but laid back, no real schedule.
  22. Were the divers gigging or spear fishing??
  23. Any time before gigging season until shortly after it.......
  24. Depending on the time of year. Spring, maple parachutes clog pretty bad. Summer, all the crap stirred up when they break up the moss beds on the weekend Late summer, rocks due to low water. Fall, leaves. But I run a 25 hp vacuum cleaner. Does not take much to stir up the flow on the vortex of that one. Bigger engines spit stuff out that my jet chokes on. That little 20 jet on my Covid Jon will crap out on muddy water it seems. I do have one of those that Wrench suggests coming from Ebay. I have a prop boat also. Just keep it in the back pocket on all of my trips if it works. Always on the search of the perfect multitool.
  25. When I first started seeing the posts, I checked with my fishing buddy while fishing near Pickwick catching some nice bass and sauger. He was going to be in Florida with another of the TN fishing group. Checked with the wife, only weekend off for her that weekend and knew fishing was out for me. Made some calls, coworker has condo on Point Royale, and one of my good traveling couples worked a weekend off. Weather looked ok, we decided to launch. Started the day around 3 am on Friday, spent about 45 minutes at the farm, and passed over my homewaters of St Francois, Black, Current, and the skinny little upper part of the 11 Point. Side trip to see the side show at a Bucees around 10:30 then landed at Bass Pro. Met up with other couple and killed the afternoon there eating and shopping around. Left there around 4:30 and found the condo after dark. Dumped gear and heading down to the riverfront. Eat at Big Whiskeys and enjoyed the landing for a while. Back to the condo for catching up and some serious UNO cards. Breakfast Saturday at the condo, parted ways and I spent 2 hours visiting with the group at the river. Then off to my bunch. Grouped up and headed over to the College to tour the Ralph Foster Museum till it closed which was quite a collection. Watched the swans on the lake on campus. Drove back to the overlook up the road and spent some time there. Hit the State Park and Cooper Landing just as the light was fading. Picked up some takeout at Danna's and played serious dominos till bed time. Breakfast again at the condo, launched out for home. Took the back way across to Ava and up to 60 at Mansfield, taking our time back. Back to the farm till dark then over to unload around 7 pm. Great weekend and I never even wet a hook. But the time with family and friends, new and old, was priceless. Best of all, I got to see the auto of the group that used to wave goodnite to me when I was a kid. Back when TV was simple and black and white.
