  1. But we never see him in it. Must be a mirage. Or, he don't have enough truck to get it to the water........
  2. Sounds like a good idea, more money for a boat payment...
  3. https://news.yahoo.com/massive-spider-seen-missouri-photo-170157009.html Been running tractor past few weeks bush hoggin trails with forks up high to bust thru them at farm. Busted thru one Sat on 4 wheeler and had the black shiny spider hung on my glasses for a few hundred yards until I untangled myself from web.
  4. I was thinking the thread was about putting Hummingbird feeders away for the winter instead of a Humminbird fish finder queston.
  5. MDC finds man eating spider web. One for Wrench.. https://news.yahoo.com/massive-spider-seen-missouri-photo-170157009.html
  6. Its all a matter of contact points. Rubber O rings and lots of contact along the mag tube and receiver make many freeze points. Winchester did not have any O rings on their actions. Remington Versamax has a system of different placed ports. Never broke one down and looked at the action. Benelli used a different system also.
  7. I missed it too. I thought it said "Praying for more Covid Deaths".
  8. Those kinda distractions can cause weight loss. Nice to have a view like that though. Good job.
  9. I have always been partial to the Winchesters. My first was a 1400 20 gauge and it run like a champ with any 2 3/4 loads. That was all it would chamber. I had a few others and bought a Super X2 that handles all well from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 loads. Pretty clean running gas system and it runs dry. My buddy watched my gun for years. He went from an 1100 to a Beretta. The Beretta would freeze up in the blind while mine kept chuggin. Ended up with a Super X3 and never had any issues. When I really want to shoot and take a little pain, I have my Russian Baikail 12ga Over and Under Skeet with Modified Improved Briley choke tubes. Took 3 mallards with 2 shots one day, best shot ever. Killed a few turkeys too.
  10. I carry lots of Band-Aids, that rapid weight loss by radiation left me with thin skin. I leave a blood trail every time I pick up a wrench now. If I just rub my hide against metal I get a nice 3 corner tear in the skin.
  11. Plenty of chum. Take some carcass flies and flesh colored lures.
  12. Looks like a good time on the Gravois Arm this weekend on Lake of the Ozarks. Probably stir crawdads up off the bottom and kill a ton of shad. What a cluster. Offshore Powerboat Race on LOZ Oct 2-3
  13. Yep, he took the maiden voyage in the boat last spring. Had a break between fall hay and brush hogging the farm to go out Sunday. He was close and handy. It was a good trip.
  14. We hit the sweet spot for sure. Fished same area a month ago and came up blank. Best of all, we are post giggin season and no gig marks. Agents in that area are keeping them safe.
  15. Current River, tube jigs and craw cranks. Beautiful weather, pre front, and only 1 boat runnin on river besides us.
  16. Much like Echo Park that was created without river access, there is a reason for the uprise. The rivers are governed by the Federal Government and they issue permits for Commercial Access to the river for Commercial Gain. If the State proceeds, the commercial floats will have to be accessed by other licensed vendors in the area who have already contracted the accesses. The Federal Government will be in control of allowing more traffic on the river by anything other than private river usages at accesses.
  17. From the Columbia Tribune, a different perspective with more details. An Oregon County circuit court judge has ruled that a state agency can’t buy some key land along the Eleven Point River to create an Eleven Point State Park. Circuit Judge Steven Privette agreed with nearby landowners who sued the Department of Natural Resources to block it from acquiring 625 acres of land along the river that had previously been designated a Wild and Scenic Easement. The Wild and Scenic Easement bars use of the land for boat access to the river, or for camping or other recreational uses. The judge agreed with the landowners’ argument that since the land couldn’t be used by the public, the state parks agency could not use tax dollars to buy it. “As presented to the Court at trial, DNR has acquired as a state park lands which cannot under any reasonable interpretation be used as a state park,” Privette wrote. “As such its actions are arbitrary and capricious.” Privette ordered the department to divest itself of the land it acquired in the Wild and Scenic Easement. A spokeswoman for the department declined to comment on the judge’s ruling. The Missouri Sierra Club, which has supported creation of the Eleven Point State Park from the beginning, urged state officials to appeal the decision. “Sierra Club believes the judge issued a flawed decision that will result in the loss of the Eleven Point State Park without an appeal,” said Jennifer Conner, chapter chair of club. “We encourage Governor Parson and Attorney General Schmidt to appeal the decision because state parks are beneficial for rural economies and provide places of refuge for Missourians throughout the state, especially during COVID-19. We encourage citizens who care about our state parks to contact the Governor and Attorney General and ask them to appeal the decision.” The state purchased 4,197 acres in Oregon County with plans to create Eleven Point State Park. However, 625 of those acres that run along the edges of the Eleven Point River carry the Wild and Scenic Easement, barring public use or access. End The easement was established when 44 miles of the Eleven Point River was designated a national scenic river in 1968. The easement and land in question lies along the Eleven Point River, from Thomasville to the State Route 42 bridge in Oregon County. The U.S. Forest Service manages the easement, but the judge found that the state agency made no effort to work out an arrangement with the Forest Service to modify the strict rules barring public access in the easement. Without access to the river within the acreage the department purchased for the new state park, a key reason for establishing a park on the river became moot with the judge’s order. Even if the judge’s order stands, Conner said there are still viable reasons to move forward with the new state park. “Even if parks would not be allowed to operate a boat ramp there are put-ins and take-outs above and below the park that could be used,” she said. “There is also the historic farm where the Beatles stayed on this property so there are many different fascinating aspects to the park-land!” “We are worried that this ruling, if not challenged in a higher court, will result in losing the entire park,” Conner said. The landowners who sued are Van and Elizabeth McGibney and trustee James Conner. The News-Leader has reached out to their attorneys, Devin and Derrick Kirby of Doniphan, for a comment on the judge’s ruling.
  18. Winchester Model 42, best slide action 410 ever made.
  19. The Ruger Single Six is a solid gun and worth its value. The "Chia Pets" I am not sure of. Never hear a complaint about Chiappa but never really know of anyone that owns one. They made a 1911 22 conversion that was ok at first. But the rest?? Henry is a good company, solid reputation. Can't beat a good Ruger 10-22, best semi auto 22 ever made. I do like the old style mag releases vs the new extended ones. Pick up an older style if you can find one.
  20. Be nice, confuse them with kindness. Eye contact and a smile with a friendly nature start to the conversation. They are waiting for a response to the uniform. They form judgements quickly, they have too.
  21. We were fishing Current River below Doniphan the other day. Boat comes into the hole and shuts down 100 yards away and starts watching. I just waved. My buddy asked why I did it. Its Water Patrol. How do you know? Who else wears black on a hot sunny day. He motored down and talked for a while. Same one from Wappappello that I have been visiting with all season. Great guy. I was pulling His boat that trip. TN does not license trailers and it was behind my MO tagged vehicle. You would think that would draw a check all of the time, but no it does not. Had a new agent behind us at ramp at Whitten last summer. Same setup, MO truck, TN boat. We launched and rigged for fishing. He launched and blasted up stream. Came back past us later. No check for license. Probably because we spoke to him and was friendly.
  22. I had not heard anything about it since Nixon left office. We were out there 2 weeks back and talked about it wondering whatever happened to it. Looks like there was another court case in August that spurred this decision. Gonna have to look into it.
  23. I walked up to an agent fishing the Current River below Baptist one time. Started talking to him, he did not recognize me. It was after a stocking of the yearly brown trout and he was catching a few. I said, "be careful with those fish, someone told me there is a game warden lurking around here today." He looked at me funny and kept talking about the fishing. He caught another and released it pretty rough. I warned him again. He finally said "Whats this agent look like?" I replied, "kinda like you Steve." Jig was up and we have visited ever since when I run into him. And I hope I helped him learn something about handling trout that day also.
  24. I don't have a problem with the State buying the farm. Had it been a private owner, we probably would have no recourse to what happened to the development. But this was bought with our tax dollars and the people should have a say in its development. Make it a MDC area or anything with low impact as far as development. I would never like to see an eyesore like Echo Bluff there. Might as well drive to St Louis and visit Forest Park for the wilderness experience.
