  1. Montauk gauge is showing 13.4 ft this morning, good thing main season is over. St. Francis at Patterson is up over 16ft in last 24 hours just west of me. My little creek just has normal flooding with about 3" of rain. Most of the rise came from upstream around Fredricktown from rain there.
  2. Chewed it up good. Looks pretty dry.
  3. They will probably burn you out of your house you ole Missouri Hillbilly... Funny thing, my buddy was wanting to catch a brown on the White River this summer on a company sponsored guide trip. He is not a bait fisher and is used to spin casting lures to trout. But the guide was hung over and he "forgot" to thaw out his shad stash. So, he was lost, used to taking out baitfishers and did not help my buddy any. Kept him tossing bait to the rainbow stockers for entertainment. Even made fun of the flyfishing guides going by. Trout fishing on spin gear and lures can be very rewarding. Much like casting the long rod and flies. I prefer spin gear when floating. Flyrods are best from a standing position anymore for me.
  4. This drought we have been having has them searching for stores all over. Surprised I have not seen any robbing going on. This was the driest fall I have seen since I was in my second year of bees, 2013. They have cut down bee populations prepping for a bad winter. My bee counts are pretty low, did not have alot of bearding going on late in the summer.
  5. Not many beekeepers make it past the first 2 years. They find it can be alot of work and is rather expensive and time consuming. But it is an interesting hobby.
  6. Interesting how things were done back then. Now it would be many millions, poorly designed, and obsolete by the time it was finished several years later after conception.
  7. We had talked about running down to Wilson in Florence Alabama for his birthday, but that did not work out. Supposedly the fish are bigger and better at Muscle Shoals. We never had a chance this year to hit Nickajack or Chicamauga this year together. He is going there this weekend with another friend. See how that goes.
  8. Looks like I was a little shy of the 54 lbs 8 oz from Nickajack in 72. Maybe there is a Flicker Shad class for State Records.
  9. Green pumpkin orange flake tender tube. Buddy backed off the trolling motor to tie a lure on after a breakoff. I took over the front and dropped it off the shelf point we were coming up on. Just mouthed it and started swimming. I gave it nudge and he took off and set hook himself. Went down to fish with him on his birthday and ended up putting the hurt on him all day. But, as usual, we had fun.
  10. Flicker Shad size 6 white with black back and spot on side.... They started hammering them about a half hour before sunset that nite. They were bringing units online and water was coming up.
  11. Well, it was 8 1/2 lbs. The bass was 6 lbs 1 Oz. Short fat one 19" long. Did Pickwick Lake on Sat. Water temp still 70 and shad balls at 5' deep in middle of deep coves. Nothing showing under them. Several shorts, couple of 2-3 lb smallies, several large drum late before sunset on cranks. Nice fall day
  12. Pretty light, 4 gallons out of 3 hives. Pretty sad, most said too wet this spring and they could not forage well.
  13. There is lifting involved. Boxes weigh 50-60 lbs. With bees and honey in them.
  14. Slightly more work than worms... And, they bite back when you feed them.
  15. Sounds pretty good for that lake, only been on it twice. Looks like it has potential.
  16. I have never trailed the Pickle Creek down, but I have always thought it was a slightly wade able stream. I never knew you could launch a boat and float it. We have used the CA for photo ops in the shut in area.
  17. What time is that visible? I forgot to look for that this week.
  18. The sunset on Sat evening was great.
  19. The moon did not help. We did drive out away from most city lights for the view.
  20. Here are some pics of the solar outburst flares over the lake by Long Shoal Park. Nice show. Too bad it seemed to kill the fishing for weekend.
  21. Do they flare on that pink one? I used to toss an odd one out and get some in. White gull decoy, heron decoy, coots, and of course the lone goose. Just something to break things up. That pink blow up thing may be better than a motion wing. Just be careful your hunting buddies do not try and shoot at low fliers....
  22. Worried a bear may eat him? Or moving off?
  23. I would say it's less mess, my drain plug runs out over cowling. Less cleanup.
  24. A dentist found my tongue cancer. Saw him today for 6 mo cleaning and reminded him that was 9 years ago now. I have used him for 30 some years now and always been happy with him and his staff.
  25. Readers Digest material.
