  1. Probably not, I hear tell that they never have to be operated on.
  2. Same one in all of his pics. I used to like a nice stiff maduro while fishing. But then a doc told me that may be why I lost part of my tongue. Now, I just enjoy the second hand waft off my other Dr. buddies pick of the day while fishing.
  3. Promoting Oprah's products.
  4. Never thought about mounting any raptors. I am sure many die a mistaken death on public land, good to see they can put them to good use. The meat is real stringy.
  5. I pulled some old tomato vines out of the raised beds and tossed them in the burn barrel while the kids are sledded on Sunday. Stakes were frozen in. Only a few weeks till lettuce planting time.
  6. The shoveler looks a little stretched out. Like the gaddy too. I killed an ole double curl mallard one time. Bought the kit online and was going to mount him. Spent the time to skin him out and then left him too long in the freezer. Still have a mallard mounting kit if I ever decide to do one again. My hunting buddy learned his bird mounting skills in college mounting birds for lab work. He assisted in skinning it out. Pretty hard work with a scalpel. The bill and skull takes some work. My eyes and fingers are not as nimble to do it anymore.
  7. Good looking mounts. In the old days, ducks hung outside for a few days to age the meat. Strip out the guts was all you did in the field.
  8. Had a blue heeler that liked pig balls one time. Every time we cut pigs, he would gulp then down whole as we tossed them to him. After a while, he would go out into the field and barf them up. Then come back for more. Dogs never seem to learn.
  9. Quit feeding that dog table food and his stomach would be better.
  10. I can honestly say, "I'm only drunk when I'm drinking." Been there, done that. Not with snowmen, but with other things. Amazing how alcohol seems to affect sense of directions.
  11. Why do you think he was passed out in the back? Probably ran out of gas and just climbed in back for a nap. Truck rolled off into river.
  12. It has survived more floods that I ever thought it would. I thought it would be gone the first spring.
  13. The handicap fishing ramp was a good place to drink beer and watch the float crowd go thru. If I was in a wheelchair and went there to fish, I would have been offended.
  14. Early spring snowfall will cool this off.
  15. There is always a better shoe. But will the MDC approve of it???
  16. Bees were flying this weekend. But they were flying Christmas Day also. Snow geese were heading north tonite when I dropped off the grandkid when we came back from farm. Turkey gobbler in full strut this morning on way out to farm. I did look around for morels today, just in case. Bucks were loosing antlers on all game cams this week. I have been watching the bats every trip back from the farm for the last month. They were out at 4 today. I think winter must be over.
  17. I truly understand. I am sure we will meet again.
  18. I know guys that sit out in the Mississippi behind wing dikes in the coldest days in cabin boats and catch big cats. I don't think they hibernate, just not as active using energy that requires constant feeding.
  19. Nice shop with lots of knife accessories. But I always am looking for older stuff that I collect. They only carry new production stuff. There is a shop in Metropolis that buys and trades, I usually see him at the shows. There were some knives at the show. A few had some nice Custom Work Others had cheaper no name stuff from chinards.
  20. Stopped in and met Mitch and Hogwally. Put 2 more faces to crew from online here. Great bunch of guys with a great product. Gonna try them out on the next trip to Pickwick. Also noticed that all Tritons, Rangers, and Trackers are starting to look alike. Picked out a nice Lund Deep V that I took a liking too. Might be a retirement boat. Lots of goodies there. Crowd tapered off around 2 where you could look around. Had a great lunch at Berts Chuckwagon in Collinsville before we went in. Ran up to Troy and checked out GPKnives, nice shop with some great products. Picked up a few things there.
  21. Looks like I will be there after noon if everything works out. Looking forward to meeting more of the gang.
  22. I see alot of them daily around Cape Girardeau.
  23. But its going to be so nice outside this weekend. Upper 50's and sun on the first weekend of the New Year. Following a ripping cold front screaming thru on Friday bringing more rains. Decisions, decisions.
  24. Love them or not, they do alot with the money they have alotted to them. A year in perspective. MDC Notable News from 2018 Where else could you find a 2 headed Rat snake? They have one in Cape at the Nature Center also. Missouri is full of genetic deformities........
  25. In reality, the trout program is a joke at all areas except below the tailwaters. Most areas the trout replaced native smallmouth bass habitat. At least in the tailwaters that were made too cold for the smallmouth to flourish by man, there is a reason for them. It is a put and take fishery from its beginnings. They are not native to MO. They may have been around many moons ago when the state was cooler by Ice Age. It causes more issues, has the most screwed up regulations, and causes more people to act like idiots in a crowded sporting situation. Not the best sporting situation in the sense. But it is fun. Offers a year round fishery. And is funded by those that buy the stamp and tags. I fish the local ponds when they stock them, usually a way to grab a few hours fishing in when nothing else is going on. And other states around us do it too, but not as efficiently as MO does. I have fished winter trout in IL, KY, and TN. It is always better here or in the streams that Arkansas continues to stock all winter.
