  1. My Coop, over 10k spread out of service over many counties center of service is Fredricktown about 50 miles as crow flies. I am outer fringe of service, but they were only 1 pole away for the whole subdivision when we started back in 98. Others were farther and not much better. Ameren?, Citizens? They were first to come into the farm back in 1941 and family have been members since.. I was having troubles with the shutoff breakers this summer that were installed in 61 when Dad tore down the house and rebuilt the one I have now. Engineer came and and said that they were going to replace the pole also. When I asked why, as it seemed like a good pole, he said it was put in 1941 according to the numbers. They reinstalled it across the branch without even asking replaced a pole that Dad just sit shallow going over to out buildings.
  2. Day 5, took generator outside at 5am for coffee and top off refrig. Wife going to work today and I have been working since Tues. Not burning fireplace and will shut the propane off when I leave. Looks like first day above freezing, hopefully trees will melt some. Took first shower at daughters in town since Mon. Then cleared limbs for 3 hours and got funked right back up. Worked till 8 last night clearing road out from tree cutters clearing lines. Elec coop still few days behind probably. 1-2 in snow tonite and 3-5 tomorrow, probably heavy and wet. More lines will come down.
  3. Sorry, meant to say Grennel, dam spelchker.
  4. Never know, lowland backwater. Probably full of bream and cats, maybe bowfin and gar. Otters may have it picked clean. We shocked up crappie, bream, and a pirate perch on the Whitewater cutoff at Delta. Nasty mud bottom. Never really followed it down, guessing it runs into the Little River canals they dug to drain swamps. I have heard guys catching nice bass down near New Madrid on the Portage Ditch system.
  5. May work for you. When we did stream study of Whitewater River below the Diversion cutoff, we shocked up many small crappie in early 80's. May find same on Castor. The original channel was cut between Greenbriar access and Advance. Pretty well dried up pools up there. I guess it still picks up drainage down there, maybe current too.
  6. Talked to power guy coming thru for drive by, first since Sunday about dark. May not be up till Friday. At least the could tell me how many more to go at least. Picked up more 3 lb propane and another BBQ tank. Switched Little Buddy over to Big tank and running tank top heater in main part. Going to try to sleep tonite instead of stoking fire every 2 hours. 67 in here now. Having that pork roast tonite that I cooked in instant pot with generator. Fridge and freezer still good.
  7. At least they aren't shooting you on the street like the city. I will take south county inbreeds any day over gang wars.
  8. No idea, that part is below the Diversion Channel cutoff and basically a slough. I noticed that last time thru, have no idea what they are up to. Timber in high demand.
  9. Power still out tonite, 3 poles snapped off at ground over the hill. 10k with my coop without power at 3. Generator failed me, had to bring in house to thaw out. Been purring since 10 am charging electronics and running fridge and freezer. Neighbor had 2 ranks of dry wood, been packing it over for fireplace. Still have propane. Cut my way thru a Bradford pear and went to dollar store for few things. Life pretty normal in town. Made a nice chicken stir fry tonite on camp stove and have cold beers.
  10. October. I was getting Election Day Apocalypse preps ready. Plenty of fuel in storage in bass boat and cans. Had to break into go bag for some canned chicken for supper tonight. My crock pot did now work for the pork roast today. Going to have to fire the generator in the morning and run the cooling devices for while. I have Bauer tools and many batteries. The Radio, Invertor, and lights have come in handy today. All running off fully topped off batteries that I went thru last nite.
  11. I get to test all of those "just in case" toys that have been in storage. Generator, Little Buddy heater, Propane Tank Radiant Heater, and all of my camping gear.
  12. Somebody ditched an ugly kid on way to ballet class...
  13. Lost power here at noon. Main pole at end of lane took a direct hit from tree. Fireplace and propane now with batteries lighting and playing radio. All devices were fully charged and phone has hotspot. Farm still has power and internet. Not as much ice there. Trees been popping all over yard. Wish I had brought the pole saw and gas chainsaw back from farm now, going to be a mess here. May have to cut way out in morning with my little Bauer saw to get to work.
  14. Just don't post a glory shot on FB and you should be fine. I suggest just to wing it and let it drop on someone else's property for some additional deniability
  15. I monitor my farmhouse with cameras. 2 wireless thermometers, on sensor in freezer, one in unheated part of house. Put readouts in front of my inside camera. I can tell if refrige is running and temps in house to confirm furnace still going. All works well if power stays on. Left freezer door open last summer when I grabbed ice pack to leave. Sensor was in refrig part and was only showing a little warm. I found a melted stinking mess that Friday because I was keeping ac off.
  16. The madness and hoarding started here on Thursday. Ran into town after leaving farm last nite, called wife to see if she needed anything. Of course, we needed bread and milk... Nothing. Shelves were bare. Propane tanks all gone along with heaters and kerosene. Picked up a pork roast, taters, and carrots, a 12 pack, and a can of crescent rolls.
  17. When you killed one, did you lay its head on your knee and let Sugarbritches lay her head on other side for a FB glory shot? Kill it, burn it, bury the ashes in another state.
  18. I don't have to mix oil with my corn water juice. I R A 4 stroker....
  19. Forgot to check the dipstick?
  20. If it was night, they may have been drones.
  21. The only place you have to quit fishing is the trout parks. Because, technically, its only for trout.... But, I am not a game warden and a part of the legal system. It is up to their mood for the day to determine the real law.
  22. Rolled in flour are the way to go. Mom, in a pinch for fast food would use Flour Tortillas. They made a pretty good dumplin. My wife insists on the frozen store bought squares of thick pie dough on her dumplins. I have been known to eat a peanut butter sandwich on the nites she fixes those nasty things. Now, she does them on weekends when I am out of town. If I am going to be in, I will take half of the chicken and stock and make chicken and rice for me.
  23. Too many distractions..
  24. Going to need the production, looks like Montauk will be down for a while. Trout looks pretty slim over at this part of the state.
  25. I bet she is "Hot" under that getup. I normally am. Keeping bees in a full suit tends to leave you soaked all the way thru underneath after 5 minutes.
