  1. Matt and Dan -- lots of folks, myself included, appreciate what you're doing. I've been involved with enough volunteer organizations to know that it always turns out to be more work that you expect, and there's never enough time, money or manpower to do everything that needs to be done. I also know success always comes down to the dedication and work of just a few folks. Usually the only thing there is an abundance of is people with ideas for more things to do, or how do things better-- but when it's time to roll up the sleeves and get to it, they become a lot more scarce. So keep up the good work and let us know when you've got a need.
  2. Here's a guy asking $950 for a used Wenonah Solo Plus. That's a pretty nice boat that can do a lot. I've had one for years and it was great for taking a couple kids out for a spin on the local lakes. Took them down the Niangua with it too. Used it primarily solo more recently. I've been looking around for a used Vagabond and finally found a very lightly used one in Iowa. Did a road trip over the weekend, stuffed my gullet at Maid Rite, and brought her home. Paid $850.
  3. I hope all the people who read your post criticizing them also get around to reading this one. Probably would have been better to add this to the end of your other thread.
  4. Hey, all you kayak guys are out of line. This man is looking for the King of Ozark watercraft: the versatile, lightweight, tradititional, all-American CANOE.
  5. I've seen that happen in the bathtub.....
  6. Coosa HD is 79 pounds. I'd have to bring my butler to help me get that on top of the Car
  7. I hereby 'dub' that the "Bob Marley"
  8. I always look at this site -- pretty interesting.
  9. I hope she took it the way it was intended!

    What's Cooking?

Inspired by America's Test Kitchen, and because I had most of this on hand, I did a Cioppino (spicy fish stew) tonight. Tomatoes, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and white wine for the broth; poached some white fish (tilapia), and mussels, shrimp, and scallops in the broth. Outstanding!!! This would work with anything that swims.
  11. She's ripped! (Please let her know said that ) Seriously, nice fish!
  12. Lotsa good info on here for sure. I'd bet a lot of folks who wander in here either don't know how to search, don't get what they're looking for if they do search, or are overwhelmed with the number of topics or posts. I also think it's pretty normal to think your question is unique or timely -- so some folks just ask before searching. Right now there are 884 members online here. That's a crap-ton of folks not asking questions or making recommendations. What if just 1% each started there own thread asking what's working on Table Rock right now? Seems like the stuff we're grumbling about is pretty miniscule, given the amount of traffic. I know I've joined forums just so I'm able to search them -- most require a membership to do that. I do it with no intention of giving anything -- just taking information for my own benefit. I don't feel guilty in the least for not participating. It's the internet -- it's free information. Other things I don't feel guilty about: *not donating to Wikipedia even though I use it a lot *not being a member of PBS, even though I watch it a lot *paying more taxes than I owe, even though I know the government that protects me needs it *breathing
  13. We all grew up being told we're the best there ever was, and that's probably true. But it doesn't mean we can't screw it up. It is good to keep in mind that this isn't a sure thing.
  14. 'Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried.'
  15. Wow! Nice. ^This
  16. I want in. I was nice to a kid once.
  17. We can only guess how much better those would look with two thin coats I like the barring effect -- need to add that to my repertoire.
  18. Two thin = one thick, smarty pants.
  19. I haven't been to Sand Springs in several years, but it was pretty nice for sleeping indoors back then. Restaurant there was good too.
  20. I find the Devcon 30-minute epoxy thick enough that I don't have to turn them. I usually do two thin coats. That said, I like the setup you have dtrs5kprs. I knocked my turning motor onto the basement floor a while back, and it broke apart and I can't get it to work.
  21. On the poppers I do, I use two drill bits -- one a little larger than the other. Dip the flat end of the larger one in white craft paint, then press it on the popper. A few minutes later, follow up with the smaller one in black paint. I kinda like the look, and it's got a little 3-D-ness to it too. I know we're talking about two different things....
  22. So, how was Dallas? Seriously, Ronnie -- great, thought provoking, emotional story. The older I get, the more I realize that real success isn't measured in bank balances, square footage, car brand, and all the other crap.
  23. Is it the smell?
  24. Wow -- 843 members on here today. No telling how many guests are here at any one time. If I may, I'd just like to tell each and every one of you/them that...they're bitin' on the Ned rig. You're welcome.
  25. I am here to come clean; to set the record straight. First, a little background. I really, really do try to take care of my stuff. But since August 7, 2013, I have been tested over and over again. That's when Ruby, our adorable Brittany puppy, arrived. Ruby likes to chew. A lot. On anything. She just needs to be able to reach it -- that's the only criteria. And you don't always know what she can reach until it's too late. Well, turns out she can reach up to the sunglasses compartment above the mirror in my car. I'm a believer in integrity, and I also believe it goes both ways. Sure, I could conjure up some story and probably wrangle another pair of frames out of Smith, (it's just little ol' me versus the big corporation, right?), but I won't. Time for me to suck it up and buy some new ones. Guess who'll get the first shot at selling me some new glasses?
