Nice to see a little activity in this thread! I’ll share a couple recent ones. We’re overrun by tomatoes now so I thought I’d do something to use up a few. Tomato Gratin based on an ATK recipe. French bread cubes, diced tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, Parmesan. This was good and will do again, but not good for leftovers. I had a taste for gumbo so I did it despite the season. Chicken, shrimp, andouille and some flounder we had. Green peppers from the garden. Thank goodness we found a use for those nasty things😀. Wifey thought it was delicious, which makes this guy happy. It was very good. And finally, I found some good looking cukes so I thought I’d give fermented pickles another try. Saltwater brine, dill, garlic, spices, etc. We’ll see how this is in a couple weeks:

I saw a private collection in SW MO that was pretty impressive. It’s Invitation only but I can probably do an introduction to get you in. PM me😀

Another one I haven’t seen. Sooo many bourbons these days! Also, so many craft beers that old classics are hard to find. Had a hankering for Chimay and couldn’t find any of the local stores. About two dozen US beers that claim to be that style, but I’m always reluctant to buy a six pack of an unknown. Had to venture out of the neighborhood today and found Chimay. It’s been so long I had to Google to remember the difference between their red, gold and blue. The blue is the one, and it’s tasting good tonight.

That’s some good looking stuff, @rps!! A couple resent ones. We had waffles at a b&b back in June. The guy said he used Bob’s Red Mill gluten free pancake mix. I never would have bought it but it was very good so we tried it at home. A little extra crunch. This was wifey’s waffle. I’m more a syrup guy. Lots of tomatoes here, even after the squirrels take their cut. Bruschetta with roasted garlic, basil, Parmesan and a balsamic reduction:

The guys I'm referring to were fanatical about it, and there's no fanatics here

A while back I was reading a thread (not here, can't remember where) about rock cairns and there was a consensus among those party poopers that these should be destroyed whenever encountered. Apparently there are folks that think this is destructive of nature. So, as Sgt. Phil used to say, 'Be careful out there.'

I've hired guides (always fly fishing) on several occasions and had great experiences and just ok experiences. None were ever bad though. I started to type a bunch of it out but decided against it because it was going to be too long. I don't have and earth shattering insight, but if you'd like to chat with somebody on the customer side of things, PM me.

Petition for single point hooks in trophy section
ness replied to Smallie Seeker's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
We were talking about that on Usenet, list servers, Yahoo groups and the Cafe. I've come to believe it'll never happen. But, shoot a deer from the road and an MDC SWAT team will hunt you down, take your stuff and there will be a Facebook article about it. I don't know what the answer is. -

That's just a one-time thing though, right? Refresh and you'll get a new one.

Here's a helpful video. See, there's NOTHING to worry about.

Welp, mother in law turns 80 next month, and now there's a trip to IA coming. And when there's a trip to IA, I like to get up to the Driftless Area. Like the brochure says, 'The glaciers missed us. Make sure you don't!' So maybe there'll be another Driftless trip report soon. Just booked a place in Decorah. This will the first time in the last few year that I'm not 'guiding' someone, so that'll be nice

Man, you practically drove right by my house on the way home...

I had a small asparagus bed for several years. Don't remember the variety, but it was supposed to be all male or female -- whichever is the good one. It wasn't. I got a lot of enjoyment out of that -- always the first thing going each year. But it was a pain to keep clean and it would spread outside the bed like you're saying.

What, you didn't read the disclosures?

New Glarus, WI is a cool little town and that brewery is a good one. They have a Beer, Bacon and Cheese Festival each summer. My sister is in the Chicago suburbs so we have gone up there with her a couple times. About 2 hours from her house. Pretty fun and lots of different things to try. Got talked into doing bacon/maple ice cream and it was very good. Never would have thought it would work with bacon but it did. Have a friend that really likes Spotted Cow so I brought some back for him one year.

If you have a Google account I think it'll share info across other devices signed in to it. Chrome, gmail, maps, etc.

I do a lot of heirloom stuff in my small garden. I like Baker Creek and Seed Savers for those. Also Johnny's, Territorial Seed. Here's a list of some of my favorites from a spreadsheet I keep: Plant Variety Bean (bush) Dragon Tongue Bean (bush) Kentucky Wonder Carrot Danvers Carrot Scarlet Nantes Lettuce (butterhead) Bunte Forellenschluss Lettuce (butterhead) Tom Thumb Lettuce (butterhead) Yugoslavian Red Lettuce (crisphead) Webb's Wonderful Lettuce (leaf) Green Ice Lettuce (leaf) Red Salad Bowl Lettuce (leaf) Slobolt Lettuce (romaine) Forellenschluss Pea Amish Snap Pea Dwarf Grey Sugar Pea Sugar Ann Tomato (det.) Celebrity Tomato (det.) Early Girl Tomato (indet.) Black Krim Tomato (indet.) Brandywine (Glick's) Tomato (indet.) Cherokee Purple Tomato (indet.) Sun Gold Sand helps keep the soil broken up and makes for better root growth. I've seen it said to add ⅓ sand, but a little research on that is probably in order. Good luck!
