This needs to be said... For as much praise as Bill Babler gets on the Table Rock forum for giving such great, detailed reports & information (which he deserves), Wrench deserves the same!!! We are lucky to have Wrench on this forum. He is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to boats and motors (fishing too)... And he's always willing to share ideas, possibilities, or help at the drop of a dime. Thank you Wrench!

I caught that too... Must have thought he was still on LOZ

What is the largest fish you have caught in MO?
MOsmallies replied to grizzly's topic in General Angling Discussion
I snagged a buffalo on LOZ 2 springs ago when the water was super clear in mid May. We were sight fishing to cruising bass and I saw it off in the distance. I casted to it because I figured if it was a bass it was gonna be a giant. Somehow I snagged it right in the lower jaw on a neko rigged 4.5" worm. 8 lb test spinning rod. Thing must have been at least 20-25 lbs. Landed it but the slimy bastard slipped out of my hands before we could get a picture. One of the best fights I've ever had. -

Awesome video! You caught some tanks!!! Good luck remembering the exact tree you caught those off of I never think of Arkansas as having water like that. It looks more like Mississippi or Louisiana... Just awesome... Thanks for sharing!

I sent you a PM... Thanks

Try to find the clearest water possible. If you can run to or put in on the Niangua arm, I've been hearing that has the most normal winter clarity. Jerkbaits, Jig, A-Rig on steeper channel banks. Maybe a wiggle wart if the temps are over 40.

Hoping For A Better Year

Awesome! And your land is in God's Country. We vacation on the Black River every summer and that area holds a very special place in my heart. Looking forward to your reports! -

*quite It's pretty sad that being called an idiot over an internet forum has upset you this badly. Enough to pull up a 5 year old thread. I'd place a hefty bet that you've been called much worse in person. Time to move one! -
This is a great technique for bed fishing and just sight fishing to cruising fish. A great little creek bait as well. The Missile Baits Fuse 4.4 is a great bait for this. I've just always used a dry wall screw, but I may need to give Fish24/7's design a try. Caught some nice fish on it... http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Missile_Baits_Fuse_44_12pk/descpage-MSLF.html

Observations from the bps spring angler catalog

Hog Wally - No way a 2.5" worm and a jighead existed 30 yrs ago... Good try though And the river doesn't need to be right... It'll catch em in every imaginable situation and conditions! -
You make a good argument... Not even worth my time

That's because they just don't get that big on LOZ (Or in our streams). 3 lbs seems to be the max on LOZ and I'd venture to say very few over 4 lbs are caught. I have yet to hear of one over 5 out of LOZ. I do enjoy catching them when they get into that 16-17" range

It matters because spotted bass in Table Rock and spotted bass in our Ozark streams are not the same situation.

Nice report... I believe that last one is a creek chub

The Revenge Darter Hedz are nice little jigheads for smaller swimbaits and A-Rigs. 1/4 oz is the heaviest size though... http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Revenge_Darter_Hedz_3pk/descpage-RDH.html

That crackling effect looks awesome... Megabass uses it on some of their baits. Would love to see some craw patterns with that effect and may need to place an order

Luckily I've never paid more than $12 for a pre-rap wart... Never paid more than $10 for a custom paint job (Baitwerks)... And the hardware I put on them is maybe $2.50. So my most expensive wart is less than $25.. It definitely blows to lose one but I put that kind of money into them because I have confidence when I throw them and well... I'm a bait whore!

Welcome to Ozark Anglers Beemerlb! You got a good mentor in Aaron!

This is not the ideal time of year to be fishing the Huzzah or Courtois... Especially if you are wading. I'm not very familiar with the Huzzah Conservation Area, but this time of year you want to look for deep holes & eddies out of heavy current. Slowly fish a hair jig, small soft plastic, or suspending jerkbait. The Meramec offers a lot better wintering habitat than the Huzzah and Courtois. If I were you and limited to wade fishing this time of year, I'd target the trout parks or the Southern IL power plant lakes. You have a much better chance of getting into some fish at these places than you will on the upper Huzzah or Courtois.

Dude... I'm glad you are ok!!!

Caught my personal best Largemouth in April 2015 (6.39 lbs)... Caught my personal best Gar in July 2015... Caught a possible state record Goldeye in September 2015... Caught some nice, solid fish in between... Just never caught a big Smallmouth in 2015. Hopefully that changes in 2016... My #1 goal!

This is a couple days later than I wanted to post... But I always enjoy looking back at my fishing year and seeing what I accomplished... Here are my 2015 highlights... I either caught these fish or was in the boat for the experience.... Here's to hopefully an even better 2016!
