White bass scampi this afternoon. We did some catching last Sunday on Turnback creek feeding Stockton. Caught whites and a walleye fly fishing throwing clousers. We cleaned a few. Then this morning there was foraging to be done. Picked a handful of morels and some wild asparagus. Bonus deer shed. Put together the meal of the scampi, sauteed morels and asparagus. Added baked tater. Easy and satisfying.

Another foraging trip today. Mrs. BilletHead was not too happy I went without her on the first trip. So we looked over more spots today and got some bonus wild asparagus and a deer shed. Her mood quickly improved 😀.

Good grief last time we were there it was 10:30 in the morning and you were not even out of bed. We were getting ready to dump an outboard out in the front of the shop and get out of there before sugar britches caught us and woke you up. 🤣

Pretty and perfect is overrated. Sometimes the prettiest things are deep down ugly inside. If it does the job who cares. Some of the first flies I tied were butt ugly. The fish did not care about those, and they are not going to care what that rod looks like.

When a buddy and I fished in the area of the intercoastal waterway in Texas we just rinsed after each day's use with freshwater. Fly and spinning gear and never had a problem arise later. If your reel got dunked I would say take apart and give it a good cleaning.
