  1. Another haul today. Pictures coming soon. VID_20220414_104522724.mp4
  2. Very true, I was also. Who decided it was time to leave? Me or Mom?
  3. Pat went out after she got home from work yesterday next to the house and found a half dozen. After the rain quit this afternoon, I went to another place and found 45. Possible frost tonight and they freeze so easy I wanted to get them before that might have happened. I will take her back and see if I missed any, then another place maybe. Get out and get ya some.
  4. You ought to see his itty-bitty Boga grip. Some of those micros have tiny fangs.
  5. All your secrets are safe!
  6. Don't forget I have your name and number, so you had best better behave 🤣
  7. The flesh is actually pretty sweet, but skins are really tart. Try peeling the skin off one time when the plum is ripe. Was an eye opener for me.
  8. Correct, Just hoping the new season will give some of the hunters and trappers another excuse to be out doing something. I know it will give me an excuse to set some coon cuffs out by the garden and bird feeder and take out a few during boring times. Kind of busy other seasons. I will try to do my part and the rest of you please give the ground nesting birds of any type a break.
  9. Might as well listen to it! Just substate I want to flyfish all day
  10. Parrot is getting with it!
  11. That I agree on also, but the predator correlation is their big time. Not just for turkey but quail, songbirds, fawns and other small game. There has to be a reason MDC proposed and decided to extend furbearer seasons. There have been years especially in skunks and racoon population booms where distemper and other diseases shows up and it is nasty, and the critters suffer. Would much rather see a level-controlled population growth to help prevent this. In so many things we are out of balance so do your part. Furbearer hunting, trapping seasons to be extended in Mo. 12. Correct. More game is killed by predators than humans.

    What's Cooking?

This is going to a be a long seven days wait, oops down to six now!
  14. I have caught several here and there on the fly which is fun. Killed a ton with my bow years ago. Figured Mocarp could give you some tips for more catching. Do you have them in your area? When we bow fished for them, we would see them (piping) not exactually sure what they were doing maybe sucking something off the surface. They would not be in a horizontal form swimming along sucking as they swam like a carp but would hover vertically in one spot or area. Kind of standing on their tails. Hardly anytime would the lips be out of the water but just under the surface causing rings. Fun to slip into a school of those rings and shoot them in the face. They were pretty good eating if you could get through the bones. Had them smoked and fried both really good.
  15. Hey, you were out, and I am betting you are in the top percentage of catchers on OAF today. Definitely beat Pat and me.
  16. That is a monster! I think you should contact @MoCarp. He can get you into those fish. Prepare to be amazed John. He has pictures to prove it.
  17. Cool deal, you forgot about Windyville. I consider it spooky now. Speaking of any more news about that deal? Figured you would know.

    What's Cooking?

Terrierman gifted us some smoked pickled eggs. Mighty tasty. I've pickled eggs but never smoked them. So I started my own batch yesterday. Used his recipe and tweaked it a bit. In fridge getting happy. Follow up report in a week.🙂
  19. At one time power companies pushed planting them where folks insisted planting under power lines because they did not typically get too tall. They even gave them as replacement for trees they got permission to cut out that were getting into lines. I don't know if MDC at one time promoted planting them, but they did promote multiflora rose and autumn olive. The multiflora push was before my time, but the autumn olive was not. I even bought some from them to plant. Now they have chained their tune on both.
  20. Going bonkers here too. Not in my neighborhood yet and really hope they do not show up. A few miles away a real nuisance. I checked one out close the other day. Since they are one of the first things to bloom, I wanted to see if bees were using it. All over the thing but they are not a good source of nectar and bees only use them when there is nothing else. I despise them.
  21. No it was a fuse blowing in a cutout open on the bottom. You want it to blow on the cutout door like in your fuse box instead of damaging the line. It goes kaboom and the circuit is interrupted the door opens. Generally its fused a certain percentage of what load is on the distribution lines in service. Sometimes on extra hot summer days determining loads we would glove and sleeve up and take readings on circuits three phase and single phase feeders. I never personally started a phase to ground or phase to phase arc but the other lineman on our crew has and I was there on the ground. He was in a bucket and a very tall man but when that arc started he disappeared into the bottom of the bucket. All lines are not on a cutout especially main feeds out of substations. The Arc quit meaning the three phase reclosure had did it's job protecting the line. I ran to the truck to lower the boom from the ground as my Forman started screaming Donnie, Donnie are you alright? Well as I was lowering the boom Donnie's head peeked over the the edge of the bucket like Kilroy drawings during the war. Scared the crap out of me. First big arc I had ever seen. RIP Donnie Bugg. Chain Smoking and cancer finally was his demise.
  22. Ha! Our dog Sadie is no longer around so keep that great Sadie name for yours
