What are you listening to?
BilletHead replied to Bushbeater's topic in New News and General Discussion
So a few weeks ago and It wasn't on this thread some of the blues brothers music was brought up. It brought back memories and I could not stand it any longer. I went to Amazon Prime and started searching. Lots of hits but settled on this one. I ordered and it said this item would take longer to get because it wasn't corona virus related and other orders would take priority. Well I beg to differ! Ordered April 11th and got here today . So I got out the player and had to beat the power button and on it went. Right now its rubber biscuit! -
I think we are big boys here Rick and Phil shouldn't have to keep an eye on us. We should be able to police ourselves and stay on track. I repeat myself there is a place to do the political banter.
-
You did not Rick so no apologize needed. Its just a pain to weed through the static from some on the Topic COVID-19. We are going to have to put up with this virus for some time and would hate to see this shut down.
-
You are talking my language . Thank you Are you keeping it red on the inside?
-
You all have done a pretty good job BUT there is a political topic place and I do wish you all would go there and flame each other. Oneshot 1 and Oneshot both are there and occasionally Mitch. They are lonely so go there and either release some steam or have a stroke. Actually no stroke guys. Keep it classy boys

You are getting that rig really neat JD . Pimping it out! -
When you got over this stuff again I have a 1100 20 ga. that was my dads. You are welcome to mess with it and try it out before you decide to buy something it might give you some idea.

IMO, If you can still handle the weight of lifting your existing gun to your shoulder you might consider living with it if you can. When you drop down to a 20 your new gun is lighter over all and will still kick pretty good. if you get lighter target loads that will help too. When our son was young we bought him an 870 20 ga. youth model. I shot it and it kicked like a mule. I have an 870 express in 12 ga. I hate shooting that thing. Just an opinion and you will get many that know much more than I do. I did have a friend that had a neat 28 ga. It shot great but shells will cost you. It was his dove gun and he could flat kill them.

A jake took a grass nap this morning. Been tough and I cannot cover the ground or hunt like I used to. Not going to pass up a good meal, So I had a discussion with a couple members on here. Lets see if I get a I'm wrong from either of them. I consider them both friends I would just like to share something with them. here is where it started, OA member @Seth said, The gobblers have been thin around here for us the last two years, but we have been seeing quite a few jakes. The next couple years should be pretty decent for two year old birds if they stick around. I need to try the turkey leg carnitas. I’ve used them for dumplings and it turned out great. Me the BilletHead responded this, I do all my legs, thighs and wings this way Seth. I have saved up four birds worth and done them all at once. Pick all the meat and vac seal in meals. Turkeys are looking like slim pickings here this season. If we get one I will be happy. https://honest-food.net/turkey-carnitas/ This started a discussion, @Terrierman said, There can't be 8 ounces of meat on two turkey legs and two thighs! You guys are desperate for a little protein! Then the dogpile started with @fishinwrench jumping in, That's exactly what I was thinking. 😂 Lets continue with my big mouth, Rick I am a little ashamed of that remark. Waste not want not. It all adds up. In Montana you are required to save and use duck and even pheasant legs or it is considered wanton waste. You like and fillet bluegill don't you? More meat on one turkey thigh and a set of bluegill fillets. And we are back to Wrench, Oh BS, I saw a pic of your filleted crappie, and you cut the bones out the same way I do.....just cut the V out and be done with it! I have a buddy that SHAVES them out in order to save that little 1/2tsp of meat. You'll get a bone in your mouth about every 3rd fillet you eat. Then back to Terrierman, Sorry man, but I've tried it and to me it's just not worth the effort to me. Me again, Again there is a difference between a tiny amount of meat between the bones of a crappie and a turkey thigh. If the fish is large enough I take the meat off the ribs too. It is worth it if you want it. It is good and useable I am going to use it. So I took care of my bird. Took just a few minutes more than just taking the breast halves. Not much left is there? Bag of feathers and some feet. This is what I got, So lets talk thighs now. I knew better about the 8 ounces of thigh meat. When I make carnitas the whole thigh goes in the pot with the legs, wings and back oyster meat. But I need to make a point here. I deboned the thighs and cut off the gristle, I set a bowl on the scales and hit tare to zero it out, I threw in the thigh meat. Guess what ? There will be some good carnitas soon here! I'm sorry Rick for saying I was disappointed in you. I am however bummed you have never tried wild turkey carnitas. It is very well worth the effort.

Huh , say that again would you Jeff?

Well I will debunk that theory, Pat has had doses of both. ticks and chiggers still love her as I still do. And then there are those oak leaf itch mites that come around in late summer and fall. Those too. Last Monday was her diagnosis anniversary she is now a 14 year survivor! Whoop, whoop!

I hope you are wrong and need salt and pepper for the hat! I agree this is going to last. Who know how long.

Good deal keep buying ad fixing. Soon you will have a fleet and one for each member in the household. That lawn will be done in a flash. Besides Amber needs to earn the flies you tie for her.
-
You can do it Eric! Give them heck.

We are up to three first showed up a week ago.

Actually the stems IMO are the best part! I hope you do get some planted but it is kind of late. Needs cool weather. I should of got it in earlier. If you find some seed let me know where. I want to do a fall crop :). Glad you liked the dried tomatoes. I wish everyone had a place and time for a garden. I know most don't but the flavor of homegrown and just the grower touching it. Ness you should google up a sun dried tomato soup and use some for that.

You will love it! No shampoo and just a washrag needed. Only downside is if you ding your head everyone knows unless you wear a hat!

Salad its what's for dinner, After eating so much meat this weekend we decided to do a salad this evening. I sliced up a lb. of bacon and did bacon bits. Lots of extra for later on. Then I got a wild hair and decided to make croutons. Sourdough croutons at that. Cut up the sliced bread in strips and then cut those strips again in to 1/2 cubes. Melted some butter and added garlic powder and minced garlic. Mixed that all up tossed in the sourdough bread and tossed to coat all. Into a skillet and 350 degree oven for 15 minutes then stirred and back in for another 15 then checked. Needed a bit more so stirred and let got for another 10. Out and yes it worked great, When Pat left work she gives me a call. This was the signal to go to garden and pick baby bok choy. Dang I like this stuff. Brought in, trimmed up and washed, Pat attacked the bok and soon we had a salad. Included halved cherry tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese and of course the bacon bits and sourdough croutons. Then blue cheese dressing and fresh ground course black pepper. There is a whole raised bed full of good stuff. We are going on a salad binge!

Well done buddy and I am looking forward to your adventures! -
Yes Jeff you are in the enhanced area for storms. I keep an eye on this site when storm season hits. The enhanced part has even crept farther North than it was when I checked this morning, https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html

Boy all of the work done here is great! Jeff nice plants . We finished planting everything but one tub. It actually has lettuce from last falls planting. Some of my fall lettuce did not make very well. This tub had little small plants that made it through the winter. Amazing the plants made it. We will get them picked, stir up the dirt and get a pepper in it. It is the tub in this pic. The rest is assorted peppers, More tomatoes and three peppers, Six rows of sugar snap peas and six cubanelle peppers,Lettuce and baby bok going crazy These six tomatoes were planted last Thursday. It got so windy Saturday we used some of that pallet wrap plastic to wrap the bottoms of the cages. It was like a mini green house with out the tops. I swear those things grew a couple inches Saturday and up until I shot the pics yesterday afternoon. So after we get through the storms Ness and Quillback spoke of come through. I will be between those two gents and get hit with the same front. I will see if I need to replant. If I do I have replacements for tomatoes and peppers. What is left I will be gifting out to anyone. I wish some of you guys were closer,
