  1. Thanks Kendall, We are going to watch the weather and hopefully go. Need to get my Ok license. BilletHead
  2. Wiley, Terrova 12V 45" shaft. Been getting by fine with the 12V before and I don't fish from daylight to dark anymore and adding another Battery not a very good option. Awesome ! Wise choice and you married a saint too, BilletHead
  3. Well I finally Got Pat's new trolling motor on the boat. Today St. Patrick's day is her Birthday and this TM is her gift. She actually is a Saint for putting up with the BilletHead for so long. I mounted it to one of those quick disconnect mounts. This way I can change it between the two boats and have one good TM. Still need to get a second heading sensor for second boat. Pat can hardly wait for me to try it out . I am kind of excited myself, BilletHead

  6. Glad you checked it out. The Kayak can help but also get you into more trouble. This river is fickle and I would err on caution what ever you do. You are basically on a tail water even this far down from Stockton dam. The banks are steep in most of the river. It can go from mild to downright dangerous in a matter of minutes. When deciding to navigate this river there are a number of things to consider. Study these things and all three play into this river flow. The USGS Advanced Hydrologic Prediction site, https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=sgf Corps of engineers water management, https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/Water-Management/ And finally the Southwest Power Administration, https://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspx Have fun exploring this river but please be careful until you know it well, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Friday went to Springfield messing around. Some shopping in that metropolis was done. Sam's and HiVee. Enjoy the variety and quality we don't get in BilletHeadVille but seem to spend too much down there. Two 5lb. blocks of sharp cheddar and two 2lb blocks of Colby Jack. Some of this cheese will be sliced into smaller blocks to be smoked. Produce pretty good too. Six pack of sweet bell peppers. Part of those will be for goose fajitas tomorrow. So we walked by the frozen sea food thinking about some shrimp. Some stuff from Asia raised in no telling what kind of conditions. Passed by that and soon spied the fresh seafood counter that held amongst other things a small mountain of gulf shrimp. I asked the guy if it had been froze. Nope fresh from the gulf. That sealed the deal and two pounds came home with us. Boiled in seafood mix and chilled in ice. Salad, shrimp and garlic beer bread toast. A nice treat and out of the norm, Some shrimp left for today. Now that will take us backward to a couple weeks back when again we were in Springfield to try Pho for the first time. Good stuff and I will be making the broth for the soup next year with deer bones maybe sooner with some beef bones. While awaiting our Pho we had some spring rolls. Again good and I mentioned to Pat we should try this. This brings us to the use of the leftover shrimp. We got some rice paper wrappers and decided today to tackle that. So this worked too but we got some extra large spring rolls. Stuffed to the max so don't laugh. This was todays main meal. I polished off four and Pat almost three. Made tow dipping sauces to go with, . BilletHead
  12. From Bank? If so everything that swims in Truman depending on Season and the run upstream. You cannot go up or downstream very much due to private ground on both sides. This being said there is some catching at the bridge access. I have seen bait fisherman actually fishing from top of bridge. Very ,very dangerous and I wish the state would stop it before someone gets killed. Highway speed limit is 60 there but that means 65. Semi trucks will about blow you over. Be safe if you fish there and please pick up trash the ones who don't care leave, BilletHead
  13. Hey I look at it this way, I do target bass from time to time in Stockton and other lakes. Don't keep them to eat in the big reservoirs. I do though eat bass from ponds early while the water is cold and some size control it needed. I know there are folks that harvest legal bass in big lakes such as Stockton and some of you bass fanatics cringe and I have even seen some on here belittle guys for keeping legal bass which is very wrong IMO. I know it will be a learning curve for those who do keep larger legal bass to recognize littl spotted bass. So to you who worship bigger bass wouldn't you rather the bass keeper folks get a limit of smaller spots and be done wit it? Thy may leave your bigger stinkin green fish alone , BilletHead

  16. Thanks fellows, A good way to supplement the walleye and crappie fillets while helping the other bass, BilletHead
  17. Haven't you heard of the reflective blinds that make you look like your surroundings? Chrome dome does that. Duck magnet I tell you. You are supposed to sit up where birds look into the sun rendering them blind. Again duck magnet I tell you 😁. BilletHead
  18. Isn't everyone that had a flagpole growing out the top of their head either. I can flag the birds in real well that way. Tough boating through the timber. BilletHead
  19. It seems to be a problem for more than you. Another forum member sent me a picture of what his yard looks like getting his boat in and out of a shed! BilletHead
  20. Yes she is. I have a name for this blind but can't share on forum. πŸ€—. BilletHead
  21. Good question Gavin, I know you asked about staking in water for an option too. Get some woven wire and grass either commercial blind material or cut some pampas grass and weave in and out of the wire. Wrap the grassed wire around you and sit on a stool. Use some stakes of some sort for bracing, We don't do large and bulky here in BilletHeadVille. Small and stealthy is the game. This is just like opening the canoe / kayak debate. Pat and I favor just a commercial lay out blind. So versatile from fields for geese to pond banks. They breakdown and fold up quickly. Pretty quick blending in with what ever you set it in or on. Just stuff the stubble straps full. With you laying down and doors folded you have a wind break. I have been known to doze off in mine. Have hauled it in boat and put on dry ground in marshes in duck parks.
