  3. Have a recipe in one of my books for that but m betting you cannot sell them from wild birds. Domestic yes for sure but I am not quite that adventures yet . Slothman do you waterfowl hunt? If so you should render duck or goose fat. I do goose fat and am telling you it is the bomb brother! Here is some light reading, ยง20.91 Commercial use of feathers. Any person may possess, purchase, sell, barter, or transport for the making of fishing flies, bed pillows, and mattresses, and for similar commercial uses the feathers of migratory waterfowl (ducks, geese, brant, and swans) killed by hunting pursuant to this part, or seized and condemned by Federal or State game authorities, except that: (a) No person shall purchase, sell, barter, or offer to purchase, sell, or barter for millinery or ornamental use the feathers of migratory game birds taken under authority of this part; and (b) No person shall purchase, sell, barter, or offer to purchase, sell, or barter mounted specimens of migratory game birds taken under authority of this part. [38 FR 22021, Aug. 15, 1973, as amended at 45 FR 70275, Oct. 23, 1980] Then a link for buyer. I am not a seller but gifter to fly tying friends, http://www.featherbuyer.com/featherbuyer.com/home.html BilletHead

Sounds like a good Christmas present RPS! Merry Christmas Chef, BilletHead
  5. Pretty funny John. Cripples snaking away with heads flat on the water are tough. That is when shell per duck percentage goes out the window. Pretty slim pickings around BilletHeadVille right now here too. Maybe this cold coming over the weekend will make a push come. Did you by happen save that merganser flank? Did you know there is a stipulation you can sell legally obtained waterfowl feathers for fly tying purposes? You can and hoodie drake flank brings a premium price. They want it by the ounce though, can you imagine how many feathers to an ounce? I shot one a few years back saved the feathers and gave them away to a tyer. Saved flank from wood ducks this year and will find someone that wants it on the forum and will gift it out. No sense if it can be used. Even saving mallard flank and it is hard to gift out as it is pretty easy for most to get. BilletHead
  6. Thanks DJ for posting this. Takes dedication to do this and take care of such neat raptors. Totally cool deal, BilletHead
  7. Great I missed one . Maybe a good thing and con grads Mitch Man! I would not mess with your Brown bass but would of made fish tacos out of this one, you know for the benefit of those smallies only , BilletHead
  8. Days off good deal Daryk. Have fun and have good luck. Maybe the good fishermen up that way can help you as they are sure enjoying themselves catching some quality fish, BilletHead
  9. Why do you think I make Mrs. BilletHead sleep on the front screened in deck during the winter? Easy answer she has to go to work to warm up during the week . It is a win -win deal ! All this time you all thought the BilletHead was crazy, nope, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Sous Vide Duck Breast a l'Orange, I will spare you all the cooking pictures. It is nice to have total control of what we put in our pie hole. Nothing I cold not pronounce in the ingredients. Some of the herbs from our garden. The side salad lettuce from the garden too. Simple steamed sliced carrots. Mallard breast result of a good hunt. You should of seen Pat tipping the plate to her lips to glean the leftover sauce, priceless, BilletHead
  11. Pretty neat Glen, Way back when we were using green and grey army men. If you had a tank or jeep you were special. The enemy had a half track unit. We had some major battles. Back then it was politically correct to do this and we turned out great. Used our daisy lever guns and went to town. When we got done we checked out the carnage to see the dimples left in the plastic men. When I got my pump gun that shot bb's ,pellets and even darts you could blow off appendages. Fun times. 12. Good deal and thanks. I will look into this. I know there is fear of big brother watching but if you are not doing anything wrong you have nothing to fear at this time. If it ever gets to where I think I need to worry about being watched I will put on my tinfoil hat and ditch the phone . BilletHead
  13. Pretty neat Duane, Does it work where there is no phone signal at all for calling? I once lost my old phone in a large corn field that had been cut. I spent a long time looking before i went to town and got the Mrs. phone. Went back to the field and started calling myself. Finally heard it ringing. That is about how hi tec the BilletHead is , BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

My Cajun buddy said his wife made a killer dish like this with the ducks he brings home. I could see how they and any meat would work in this dish. Endless possibilities. Like fly patterns there are variations of each fly and in cooking we make it our own by experiment. Diced wild turkey or squirrel maybe? My head is spinning thinking of this. BilletHead
  15. Yes I second and third so on and so on like this thread, We have loved ones who are concerned about us. Like some that have responded here I go out alone. Tell Mrs. BilletHead where I am going and ETA coming back. If I move locations I let her know also. I have spotty service in some places and when I get out of some holes I have a series of texts and voice mails to go through like how are things going, are you OK and on and on. This is what I call true love fellows. I am not hen pecked I am lucky and I know it. She teases me she needs to know where to find my carcass for proof of death . She asks me to wear my PFD especially while running. Trouble can come fast and in the blink of an eye. I tend to not be so stable on my feet anymore but act like I am. Bkbying89, I share this with you backing up my thoughts on the bald headed woman. You see 12 years ago we had a reset in out life and the bald head was a result of this situation . I thank you for the post as it got me to looking for this photo. I realize how lucky and blessed I am, Her hair is back but mine is still kept shaved off. I was this way before she was temporary and I tease her she just wanted to see what it was like to have the perfect head. I think she rocked it better and I have the Klingon ridge going on. Thanks bkbying89. I need to revisit this picture more often. I thank my lucky stars daily for what I have, BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Another good meal here in BilletHeadVille, Cajun Sauce Piquante. It all started with a roux and compounded from there. The meat part was diced venison. Really good and next batch and oh yes there will be many next batches I will sub some of our smoked jalapenos instead of added hot sauce for the spicy heat part of the dish. Served in a bowl of white rice, https://honest-food.net/venison-sauce-piquante-recipe/ A full belly is a happy belly, BilletHead
  19. Lookie here people, The local postman delivered this gem right to our front door here in BilletHeadVille. I guess the BilletHeads are still on Santa's list for good little girls and boys , BilletHead
