  1. Fantastic, wish all could be this caring and go the extra mile to see lost equipment find their owners, BilletHead
  2. We have done that a few times using a pre made off the shelf marinade. I mean I really injected the hindquarter good! Hung it in the smoker Chief gray bear has now. Smoked and cooked it with oak wood. Darn fine eating. Put whole potatoes in the drip pan to cook, BilletHead misses that smoker for that purpose but it is getting more use now
  3. For sure, Mrs. BilletHead says them little ones are so tasty! BilletHead
  4. A few spotted fawns still running around BiletHeadVille. Good luck you all I think I will be waiting for cooler weather, BilletHead
  5. Well put this in your pipe and smoke it. We will start with why some Texans don't want them but I read that there is a trophy fishery there maybe because that might be the only thing that lake can support? http://www.tsusinvasives.org/home/database/cyprinus-carpio They really don't like them in Minnesota either, http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/invasives/aquaticanimals/commoncarp/index.html And they really hate them in Australia and Tasmania, http://www.clw.csiro.au/publications/controlling_carp.pdf http://www.pestsmart.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/CPFS5.pdf http://www.themorayslair.org/european-carp-australias-toughest-invasive-fish-species/ http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.1139/f91-302?journalCode=cjfas#.Wbm1HLpFzIU https://www.ifs.tas.gov.au/about-us/publications/fish-fact-sheets/european-carp Sorry you all I did not put up pictures. And again * Disclaimer I did not witness the destruction and impact of carp in these documents. Just copied and pasted what the scientists said. BilletHead P.S I bet some of these places are begging for bowfishers .
  6. See we can google and post just like you providing a response. Cow nose rays are depleting oyster beds. I bet those influential oyster eating folks out there are not going to cry fowl about too many being shot and besides that I have seen and not experienced that they are good eating. That and the economic impact they could cause to the oyster fishery. They eat and destroy other shell fish species and the fragile grass beds. http://www.bayjournal.com/article/bays_oysters_sav_fall_victim_to_cownose_rays_eating_habits So blab, blab, blab and research to your thought process only. Are you a PETA member in disguise? BilletHead *Disclaimer I read this on the internet so this and all you post must be true except I admit I have no scientific proof and I did not witness the mass destruction the alleged cow rays did,

    What's Cooking?

Sounds good John. Will be waiting for the taste test. The Mrs. and I stopped by a roadside Amish food stand. Got some green beans and small potatoes. Cooked them with some bacon and onions. Then cooked down some wild raspberries, strained the seeds and added balsamic vinegar. Then reduced to a thick sauce. Grilled bluewing teal then topped with sauce. Everything was good, BilletHead
  8. I wish I could send you to some good places but my closest cold water fishery is Bennett Springs. It is a trout park and some nice fish can be caught there at times. The river below it is the Niangua. There is a lot of guys and gals on here that know some about that river and what it has going for it. Then as mentioned we have the tail water from table rock lake, Taneycomo. Explore this collection of posts on this forum. I live two hours and forty five minutes from both places but do not fish them much anymore. Did not fish the Green this trip but have a few years back. No on Strawberry. Here is a link to our trip posted here on Ozarks Anglers Forums, Nine pages to read through. I bet you may of been to some of these places. BilletHead
  9. Yep ! I think it as well seasoned like a good cast iron skillet. Been around, doing a good job at what we do. Just need a good scrubbing from time to time , BilletHead
  10. Welcome smithsfans68, The Mrs. and I did a two week trip the first of August in Utah. We liked what we seen in the state you just left. We did our cut slam while out there in three days and then fished all over there for more fish. Impressed with what your game and fish department has done. Some real good trout water here and south into Arkansas. Be ready for pretty crowded conditions at times fishing cold water trout. We mainly do warm water fly fishing and you can get away from folks that way. Enjoy and again welcome, Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead

  12. Pretty neat Joe. There is a video on you tube that showed one catching a hummingbird. Wish I knew how to cut and paste with my phone. I would attach it, BilletHead

  14. Wasps and hornets breathe through their skin. We keep a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol on the front porch for those who make it in. Use the 91 % stuff and give them a spray. Takes care of them instantly. Crash and burn. Perhaps if there is one entrance pour a bottle in and cover? After dark? I am always getting nailed from the eaves of the metal building by red and yellow mixed wasps. Swell up terrible. If I get hit in the head my face will droop. Feel sorry for you man. BilletHead
  15. Since it looks like the consensus is we have no shortage of carp this may not be a conservation issue. I think MoCarp you should post this in the place it will fit best. Perhaps you can find more people that surf this type of source for material ? http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/forum/82-carp-the-other-white-meat/ BilletHead is kind of anal about things belonging in their respective places .
  16. Got it Wily, BilletHead
  17. Ok people, There has been 619 views for this boat. So anyone interested? Yes I priced it on the upper side but this was so someone could talk me down and feel good about it. Lets do the I want to give this price dance. Come on guys you know you want this. I really don't want to mess listing this anywhere else, BilletHead
  18. I also throw at them when fly fishing for some fun and a change of pace. Yep lucky for another fight. A bonus but still for what they do as an invasive I could do without them. BilletHead
  19. You may be missing some of MoCarps point Wrench. I think he would like them treated like a gamefish. Make a trophy fish out of them. Don't get me wrong if you catch them in the mouth they do fight real well but they are invasive and I lump them in with other invasive species. I have seen waters where some do good thought it would be nice to put them go to nothing but muddy waters. BilletHead
  20. I do not care what you say or try to convince us. Carp are not supposed to be here period. One of the reasons they are so popular is they are one of the only things that now live in some places and are all that some have to fish for. MAN has messed up so much by trying to alter the nature of things. There are places that should be as the good Lord intended it to be (for those I have offended we will use the term MOTHER NATURE) Do you think we should stock carp into Yellowstone lake? They are just now beginning to get a handle on the lake trout and that mess. Are you Father Nature? This is my opinion just like you and your opinion you are telling us daily about and I disagree with it. Do you think in 140 years you will consider bighead and silver carp naturalized? Shoot you might as well import anything and call it ok in 140 years? BilletHead
  21. Can see what you are saying here wrench. But we are comparing a native specie against an nonnative invasive. I would rather not see a nonnative fish here. While MoCarp sees the benefits he wants I don't. Maybe he can have the trophy carp pond he wants? Just like we have cold water fisheries.

    What's Cooking?

We take all we buy ( ready between thanksgiving and middle of December) and spread some towels on the kitchen table. Dump the cracked nuts out and spread around for them to dry a bit more. Stir once or twice a day. We start picking and put the nut meats in gallon ziplock bags and put in freezer. When nuts are needed scoop out what you need and put the bag back. We use a minimum of two to three cups of picked nut meats every two weeks when Pat makes my granola cereal. Then more at times in salads, baking etc. Really neat in waffle batter , BilletHead
  23. Only if you cook it to death. I have never eaten young pigeon but have adult birds and I think they are stronger than dove. BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Looks good John, If you want any native pecans I can give you the name of a friend who has groves, cracks and ships. Nice and easy picking. Not sure how this years harvest is looking. We generally buy thirty to thirty five pounds to pick, BilletHead
  25. Trifocals is where it's at! Better tasting meat? How many doves have you eaten? Their is nothing like a dove that has found some grain that has passed through a cow's digestive track . Then there is the squirrels that do the same and even have been known to eat baby birds. Once all that is processed into muscle we never know the difference! BilletHead
