  1. We used the Neptune on Taney. Next time we made that trip we borrowed a four horse Martin outboard. Crazy young days. Forty plus years ago I actually think 44 or 45. I know our son wasn't born yet and he is 43.
  2. Hey @Ham and @FishnDave. We were at the Asian market today. Found some of your fish in the freezer section. If I would of had the fly rod I would of done a hero shot. 😀 Forgot to add the picture.😆
  3. He is still counting and prepping photos!
  4. Hey it will push better than that 1 1/2 horse Neptune outboard I had when starting my boat journey.
  5. Pm me if you need a location, we fished in the winter.
  6. In the good old days, we had a shotgun in the back window of the truck so we could hunt on the way home.
  7. Fun! A friend of mine and was a previous OAF Member Richard Button And a from a recommendation from @gotmuddy went to the San Bernard River near to where it dumps into the gulf in Texas. Man we had a great time. Catching so many on the fly and spinning gear when it was impossible to cast the fly rod. Next year Richard again went with @gotmuddy, @Ham and @grizwilson. Richard and I on our trip. Boy I miss that guy. Those redfish are pretty tasty. Thanks @dpitt for posting and bringing back memories from 2014

  9. Nothing yet in Vernon County but we were in Hickory County, west side and they were everywhere. got a handful and pitched them into a friend's pond that has bluegill and hybrid bluegill. Looked like piranha gobbling them up.

I did not see that. I know around here 45 years ago I shot several rabbits with them. The first one I noticed after tossing a limit in the back of my truck. Seen the neck skin moving and three warbles crawl out. I had no idea what was going on kind of spooky.

Could be very well while they are around. Lots of easy pickings in the city! We are having problems right now. Pat is transplanting wildflowers. Bunnies all over eating her transplants. Happens every year until the local owls figure out, they are here. Soon we will be finding bunny fur where they were snatched up. Nature at work.

Prepare to get grossed out. Those warbles are nasty and have seen them crawling out of rabbits and squirrels.

  16. Congrats on your success with the bass. Rome was not built in a day and fishermen are not instant either. All of us were new to the sport. I still learn something each outing that I go on. I still have goals just like you mentioned on different fish species. Keep going fishing and asking questions on places like this.
  17. No, actually way off the highway.
  18. Very Nice Ronnie! Cast it to the TV and viewed with a good cup of coffee this morning. Enjoyed it. Pat and I want would like to see more from Moore in the future 😉. Have you thought about making a submission to IF4?
  19. He used conventional gear but I didn't. John is the youngest of the Gentry kids and the only boy that was spoiled by my Mom and aunts who were much older. Anyway he visits twice a year if he is feeling good. Not a healthy guy. Has to use a stepladder to get into my truck out of it too. He can't lift foot high enough to get to the running board. I took a chair for him to set in. He then was on his own. I strung up the vintage rod and reel. 5wt double taper on the JW and Young and sons reel and a fewwick rod. All I used for an hour and a half was the simple craw I did the step by step on. Lost one fly but had a backup. I landed 22 crappie that averaged 11 inches, 6 stinkin green bass and Three bull bluegill. I stripped slow and did a pause then repeat. It wasn't a tic crappie bite it was a hard take. Typical bass bite and bluegill the same. With all the rain this pond has risen five plus feet and still has a couple feet to go before going out the overflow pipe. Uncle John caught three but spent time messing with his gear and getting frustrated. I said hey wanna try one of these under a float so its enough weight to cast. That didn't help his outlook any. Fun hour and a half until he said lets go back to your house and shoot air rifles. Pictures of the three species and Uncle John. Note I need to size the number 12 hook up some or use a wide gap hook like a gamagatsu or equivalent. I wasn't getting a good strip set and hook bite on the smaller gap hook.

  23. Ok here is the song and some history behind it. John Stewart is the Artist/Musician. He joined the Kingston Trio in 1961. The Kingston Trio was formed in 1957.John Stewart also wrote Daydream Believer for the monkey s We did get to see them several years ago. Glad we did. Remember so many of the bands and musicians we grew up with are going fast so try to see them while you still can. Take some time to listen to some of these songs.
