And they don't tell you how many or when to let them in. that is up to you and you do not have to advertise.

Pricy little contraptions. I would like one for chipmunks, rats and mice. For those of you who wanjt to get rid of squirrels just ask me. I will crown them . Quietly.

This is caused by poor management period. Mostly by the fishing public. MDC has slot limits on some of these lakes. Observe this and you can get your waters back up to par. Most all catch and keep if they can take all the bigger fish. Those small fish should be kept as well. Eat those small bass. Catch all those small bluegills you are allowed. They are not game fish so if nothing else pitch them at the end of the day. If that is all you have its way out of balance. Same for private ponds and these are worse. small bluegill and bass will spawn. Each year will be worse and worse. Crappie in small waters is even worse. If you don't do your part don't complain. If you can't kill a fish, it is your fault. It is like a healthy deer herd. There is a carrying capacity. Fish need removed in all year classes. I have access to a private lake I have not got to fish yet. To get permission to fish there you are required to take a bucket and put every small bass and bluegill in it and take them away. Anything big you are asked to release if they will live to be caught again by you or someone else. If you don't like to eat fish because they taste fishy which is what they are supposed to taste like at least clean them for someone else. none of this is the fault of MDC it's the fisherman's fault for poor management. It can be very hard to explain this to pond owners when their ponds become stunted. They think those fish will continue to grow. NOPE!

NO horn at 3pm today - water up fast
BilletHead replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
We used to wade there, and I did often. On the flood gate side halfway between the fence you are not allowed to go or fish beyond and the handicap pier there is a big flat that extends out. When no water running it is exposed. I started fishing there many moons ago. We would walk way out up to our waists across that flat until you began to feel bigger rocks. You stopped there. We threw big lead spoons or a 4 to 6 oz bank sinker with two bucktails above it. Water running you drifted in the current. Reel in and repeat. One fourth of July weekend we caught walleye, hybrids, blue cat and big crappie that way. Hammered them big time. Now they have sinkage for no wading or swimming. I was young and invincible back then. early 20s. I could run down those big rip rap rocks. Last time I went up to look around those rocks are polished smooth like glass from so much walking up and down to fish. -

Yes @Dutch and thanks. Pat got warning when we went down to Sub freezing temps. Took care of that and this morning and aired up tires for jet boat this morning. -

He is a pretty nice guy, Don't tell him I said that. -
Everything melted No ice trees or on leaves and grass on the ground. Pat called her doctor. Doc asked her to try to come in this afternoon could use her help. Pat said it was beginning to melt on the highway with just a few patchy places. My style is now uncramped. Getting stuff done. I am sure going to miss her going to work. πDon't anyone tell her I said that this weekend. We will see who has the biggest mouth Friday or Saturday.

Did @curtisce ever tell you about the one that tried to sneak up on us on turnback? We see him a way off slinking in and out of the trees looking for us. Was pretty funny. Very serious until the end then visited with Curt about another access upstream. He walked a long way in to find us. -
Don't you all be saying that. I need Pat to get back to work tomorrow. She thinks she is cramping my daily style. I say no dear you aren't.π Her last day of work is March 15th. π«¨

Speaking of canned, tinned seafood the sardine is becoming really popular. We like sardines. Actually, ordered some better ones to try. Four verities. Sardine stores are showing up on charcuterie trays with cheese and other various goodies.

Good to know I have something for you.

Treacherous Here in Vernon County Mo. We have seen way more ice on elevated places tearing up jack. This rain however is freezing from the ground up. Crazy slick. Pat has worked two places in 35 years, and this is the first time we did not get her to work. The clinic has called off a couple days but the new entity that took it over (hospital) I guess does not do that. I drove the mile and a half on slick gravel road to the blacktop highway and then up to a corner and back to dirt. She has a Honda Pilot, and it does better than my truck getting around. So I could get going not to exceed 15 mph but stopping was a no way. Had to anticipate moves and let the drive train slow you down. Have a hill north of the house and going downhill I slowly tried to brake. Nope let off the brake and let it straighten itself. I got her rig parked and said no not going in this morning. Maybe later? 34 and melting now with a high of 35 today. Actually, this makes it worse since the ground is so cold. Seeing the wet on the top could give a false sense of security because it just gives the ice lubrication. Pat is building a puzzle and I have tied a balanced minnow. Back and forth to the shop. To the naysayers I am charging my new lithium trolling motor battery. So, all you guys at Taneyfest stay away from our boat because you might spontaneously combust if you get too close. π€ͺ

Wouldn't hurt you to come down and say hello and have a bite to eat. We are not evil because we like to catch trout now and again.
