Musk ox, I heard at the swap meet that MDC started a secret stocking by helicopter right after the rattlesnake stocking by same method.

We like to shop HiVee in Springfield is we are in town. Pick up the seasons magazine that is put out. Some good recipes in it. Today tried the grilled Hoision chicken thighs recipe. Easy and very tasty. Make more thighs and extra sauce. Many possibilities with the leftovers.

Thats a nice one that has survived! Good catch netboy.

Well done Daryk. Those fish are a hoot fly fishing. Green sunfish and pretty accommodating and hit anything. Sometimes they save the day when nothing else bites.

Ditto Daryk!

Thank you, Alex. Sometimes she even pushes me to move quicker to get to our destination. -

This is sad news indeed. Condolences to the family and RIP to Bushbeater. -
So that is where the haze in BilletHeadVille came from. The uncontrolled burn from Bennitt Springs!

This time I took my best friend. Here she is winding up, VID_20230608_070800213.mp4 With her TFO 5wt breast cancer rod, her Ross pink breast cancer reel outfitted with pink line, She catches fish even 😁, VID_20230608_073815803.mp4 Lots of fish. We decided to keep today and she had me five to nothing right off the bat and kept ahead for a long time. The bass were a pain in the rear and we had to get them out of the way. We pounded the little hump hard. About 15 yards apart I worked one area and Pat working another part. She was still whipping me. I worked through three different flys and she kept throwing a small tan wooly bugger. I finally settled on a chartreuse mop fly with pink legs. I still wasn't keeping up so paddled around settling on opposite side of the hump.it was on then fish after fish, It was on then so I called Pat over to help. We had several doubles. I was fastly catching up I figured. We finally started throwing some back then. Our baskets were becoming heavy. We paddled back to the truck leaving fish biting. Lifting our baskets the tally looking close to being the same. VID_20230608_092328210.mp4 We loaded out and started counting fish as we put on ice. 22 each right on perfect. What are the odds of that? These fish are nice. 8.5 to 9.75 inches. Really close to that special 10 inch mark. We got our fillet line going. I ran the electric knife and Pat ribbed them. A bowl full of goodness right here. The flys that made the day, Both beaten to death. Fish were caught in a foot to four foot of water. Water color was off and had a green tint. Could not see beds but betting they were there. I paused my bug a bunch inducing strikes. Pat a slow stead strip. Wonderful day, perfect fishing partner. Oh I threw the glass butter stick again. The more I use it the more I like it 😜. Started at 6:30 am and pulled out at 9:30. Three busy hours. We guess throw back was 10 to 12 each. Fish were all about same size.

Great report Curt! I appreciate all the pictures you always send me as you catch pretty much daily.

Here is part of the tick problem @Quillback. It's the critters in the yard VID_20230531_202714185.mp4 😆

Wow! I worked with a guy that bought the generic ones from Walmart and during summer put one on each boot. Claiming he never got a tick or chigger.
-
Me too. Really bad this year.
-
Good detailed report despite the grind getting into the fish. Lots of smiles on this post!

Squirrel season has arrived. Number six for the season is a youngster and got him early this morning. Not venturing far from the house right now the ticks and chiggers are horrible . Today's lunch, Right to the noggin as planned. Should be good they are going hard on mulberries. Today's preparation is my favorite for the young ones. Spatchcock them! Simple prep of a little salt on each side and I dredged it in a combination of flour and some of my smoked serrano dust. Then a quick cook in some goose fat. Nothing but bones left now. Yowza

Way to go buddy! Dang wish we were closer. A place between us where we could launch a boat, smaller water and harass some fish with the long rod. We might not catch fish but bet we have a good time.

You are grown up. When I stood next to you, I had to look up.

Smoked mallard loaded nachos. Layer of chips, black beans, green onion, jalapenos and thin sliced mallard breast. (Leftovers from seared breast sides) then cheese. Repeat second layer. Into the trager pellet grill for 20 minutes or when cheese starts to bubble. 350 degrees. Out of grill top with salsa, sour cream, celantro etc. Utilized an 8 favorite piqua ware and a Griswold 8 big logo skillets.

I have been other places this year Jeff but not here today. If I can get Pat, there Thursday we each will have a cooler full of ice and pitch a few in for filleting.
