  1. I think three white and one chartreuse left for me. Spend my time now with fly rod in my hands for them :).
  2. It got really crazy here JD, I only had two long Langs coming into last Spring. Those two for some reason swarmed multiple times. I gave them plenty of room to expand. Of course, I am dealing with feral wild bees and in actuality honeybees are supposed to swarm. So right here in the yard I caught four of those swarms on low tree branches. Not giant swarms. I also have a wild hive in yard in a walnut tree. I think that a swarm from them was caught in a swarm trap I put in a tree stand in corner of the yard. Built six swarm traps and made a trap line with them. (Four lang and two Layens) Knew of two other wild hives in Bee trees in Farmer friend's yards. Caught two swarms in each of those places. Rest of the traps put in high traffic places where fields, timber and water meet. I was blessed and my total catch was 11 swarms. Out of all these I filled what hives I made and the standard langs I had and bought, gave away the rest to a couple friends. I lost two that lost queens. Two swarms ended up in Herman Mo. One of those was lost and one still going up there. This hobby started because we need the pollinators. Now I have an addiction. I need to give you a ring sometime for questions. Think I still have your number somewhere.
  3. Right now, 7, JD we have two Layens occupied, two long Langs occupied and three standard langs occupied. The standard langs are only one box each. Not sure if they will continue to make it only one box deep. So do have one long Lang unoccupied and one Layens unoccupied. Then these two Layens to add to the yard. Plan is to start moving one standard Lang towards unoccupied long Lang to introduce those bees into it. Other two standard langs phase out, use as resource hives or give away. Want to go all long hives is the end game. If I have half the luck trapping swarms as I did last season this all should be possable. Does this all make sense or as clear as mud?
  4. No fishing but got some things to do. Priming and painting newly built beehives,

    What's Cooking?

Been in a beef coma for the last three weeks, Farmer, we know offered us a good deal on beef on the hoof and I was able to get others to go into the deal and a deal it was. So, we took a half, gifted our son and his family a quarter than a quarter went to the doc Pat works for. Another whole beef went to another buddy and the third beef went to the farmer himself. I even got to borrow farmer truck and pull beef up to processor in a fifth weel trailer. Was a fun experience. I have hauled some loads before that are stationary in or on a trailer but never that would shift around. Running up I-49 at speed was really strange. The three beef would move around and then the trailer and then me pulling them. The place I picked vac seal everything. These were not giant beef. Biggest 1100 lbs., then 880 and 500. Farmer wanted the small one, the split up one I had part of was the 1100 lb. and buddy took the whole 880lb. This was hoof weight of course so we got hanging weight. 14+ hanging days. This is grass fed beef. This stuff is good and better for you. A unique flavor quite diferent than grain fed. Plenty of fat for cooking and flavor but not too much. Marbling is there but not so much extra fat on the edges. We have put away t bone, ribeye, burger and bottom round roast. Thought I would share today's meal. Hamburger steak with sides of stuffed jalapeño and something healthy cottage cheese. Knowing this would be occupying space in the freezer we did not even deer hunt this past season. First time in 43 years we did not take one to multiple deer. Last year it was five. Good thing we did not take one we are full. Will be a great addition to the game we eat. A guy needs some fat with lean right? .
  6. Always wanted one but never bit the bullet and purchased.
  7. Yes she would have anyway. She has blood pressure problems. Passed out at her home while still living there. I found her twice laying on the floor. She was forgetting to eat and when reminding her and asking what she had eaten she could not remember. She would get weak. When we got her rehabbed from that and in assisted living, she has flourished now in a stable environment. Getting covid she did not feel good and would not eat. That and having trouble breathing created it again. Shots did not cause it.
  8. So, what would you have done? Let it run its course and kill more than it has or tried something?
  9. Do you actually think like this guy does that the ones who give the vaccines are aliens? I never said or implied this guy was stupid, did I? He may not be educated or have a bizzarro imagination and may need some help to understand. You do realize not everyone like you, and I have had a good life. Some will believe anything. Where again did I say I worry what everyone else does? Are you me and know my thoughts or are you assuming? You picked this discussion, and I just relayed my choices. We have so many here that want to tell us how and why they do not take it but not many saying why they did. What if someone did not try the polio vaccine or the one for smallpox? I am sure your father got to take the one for polio. Wish my dad had the opportunity to have it. I took it and because we did because of that you did not have to. Not sure about your age. Most here did not have to take it but some are old enough to know what it did to people.
  10. Someone's panties in a wad? So where did I say people coming in without a vax are stupid? All but four had their vaccines in the clinic. Two are still there working without. One Quit and one a 49-year-old left a wife stepchild and two young ones alone when he caught covid and died. Yes vaxxed still spread it but like 90 percent right now clogging up the hospitals are non vaxxed. Sure, you can still get sick but how sick do you want to be? I don't like to be sick in any form. May I ask you a question? Well, I'm going to right now. Do you care about others? Since you think this covid thing may not be so bad as put out do you try to protect others in the community and since you could be a spreader do you mask up in certain situations? Let me go ahead and give you an example why I ask. Ok my mom is in assisted living with dementia. She has been vaxxed and up to date on boosters. Well, she was feeling poorly and not eating well. At bingo she got up and passed out. Down she went and then to the emergency room where they did a head CT showing nothing. Emergency room assumed she had just lost her balance and fell. This little old lady walks without assistance, she passed out. It was explained she was short of breath and not feeling well but no covid test preformed and she was sent home and as she was telling the nurse she was weak and having a hard time. Well at 4 am next morning she was found on the floor. Back to emergency room to now find a broken hip, this time tested for covid positive. 92 years old. Rules in assisted living visitors wear a mask period. Two workers there so far and two residents last I heard positive. All because someone did not care thinking like some here on this forum. It has become a hooray for me F you world. For those of you that might care she has had hip surgery, recovered from Covid and is in rehab. Hurting of course and if she cannot do rehab will end up in a full-blown nursing home on her back and will probably pass from phenomena from not being mobile. I continue to wear my mask in public where I may be in dicey situations. If I did not try to help the vulnerable and caused someone bodily harm and or death, I would not be able to live with myself If I caused bodily harm or a death because I did not care. You all should know because of vaccines diseases and sicknesses have been eradicated or controlled. Could you imagine what would happen if even the seasonal flu was not held in check because of the vaccine and the CDC guesses about that mixture for it? I will be the first in line for your so-called hokey pokey when it is my time. You non belivers will be older someday and I wonder if you will feel the same then? All in all, I'm in pretty good health and will probably come through with flying colors but why roll the dice. For all that have taken the Hokey Pokey we are not all dying from it being rushed through, are we? Carry on and bash me I don't really care. I have made a choice; you all have made a choice live with it
  11. Been there done that Anthony! Except I had to pull hook out myself and yes went back to the feeding frenzy. The long Hog stick. You fish below Truman might rember them. Good to see you posting man.
  12. Oh, that is so neat. A few weeks ago, went with @curtisce duck hunting. Was a morning of meteor showers. I have never seen so many constantly going on. Amazing deal.
  13. And try something dangerous instead of something that is proven to work. So far, I have not seen the FBI, CIA or Black OPS following me. In the dark yesterday morning seen a UFO. Knew this because no flashing lights. It slowed down as it came over. Probability it was scoping us out. Scared us both but knew we did the right thing getting the vaccine.
  14. Should get @Flysmallie to add something on this. I know he has and does this.
  15. Sorry about your Bride JD but the other part is very funny. There will be people trying this for sure. I heard that semen from a rutting boar goat was the new cure! Just last week when my wife in the clinic was doing required questions a patient told her the ones giving vaccines were aliens and for sure injecting tracking devices into you. They walk amongst us.
  16. I bet inside the house they would be. Put a couple in Pat's koi pond. Bad thing had a couple voracious bass and green sunfish in there too. Well, the poor little gar had no trash floating to hide in and they did not last long.
  17. They are there! When I used to bow fish wading in backwaters you would see them. Cute miniatures of the adults.
  18. yes
  19. They are and it amazes me too. I think some are documented as Missouri's oldest trees. "Occurs on glades and bluffs; in open, rocky woods, pastures, and old fields; and along roadsides and fencerows. Some gnarled cedars on Ozark bluffs are over 1,000 years old."
  20. Stand corrected @fishinwrench. The more opened thick cell pithy stuff is the quick spring growth while the dense thin is the rest of the growing season. A light /dark seasonal growth each year.
  21. If I remember right it may look like separate rings but there is a summer growth and a winter growth in each ring. Could you have possibility been counting one year as two? Still doesn't make up the difference in time you are saying but food for thought. I know when I was building self-bows using a draw knife chasing a ring you would go through the pithy quick summer growth and stop and follow the winter ring,
  22. Good Grief what a rainbow!
  23. Good question Daryk. Latin names, common names and all that stuff. Funny throughout history known and unknown deferent names from prehistoric to historic man I bet there were many, many common names given to flora and fauna.
