  1. Are you qualifying here as friend or kinfolk? You act as if I was talking about you? 😃 No hairspray in this house or artificial scents that I can handle of any kind. Cannot remember the last time I smelled acetone outside of my shop which would include nail polish remover. I assure you I try to limit offensive smells of any kind. I also am smart enough to place myself upwind when needed. I really do try to control what gets into my body, my temple in moderation or none at all. You are so easy to stir up
  2. Ronnie haven't you noticed the fish finally realize that tobacco product isn't good and they spit it out. I'm thinking fish are smarter than some of my friends and kinfolk.😁
  3. 100 percent agree and crafting flys that fool the fish and landing them is the rush. Eating fish is secondary and most of the time not even a goal. Can I get an Amen Dave.
  4. Sounds like you need help 😁. Do you need the squirrel whisper to take care of this problem? I have a buddy that lives near Herman. The greys have stripped all his green peaches off the trees and then started working on the green apples. He said yesterday that he has two green apples left. Now they are transitioning to green pears. I get updates and pictures. Number 18 died yesterday. He is taking them with an air rifle just like I do. He is eating well also!
  5. Those are a couple good ones yaknar. Always liked catching gar. @grizwilson and I caught the heck out of them on our fly rods a couple years ago when they were trying to get to small shad in a ditch running into the Sac river. Caught them on smaller wooly buggers. The gar were stacked up like cordwood right on the bank. If you got anywhere close, they would crush it. If they missed, they would follow all the way to the boat snapping it. @Dutch we were using small hooks. The trick for us was being able to watch the take. Then when you could see the gar turn it's head strip set hard to sink into the fleshy part of the beak. There is not much there but it works. For all we landed we missed twice that much.
  6. Get you a Primos Trigger stick. there are others out there I am sure that will work fine. they make mono pod, bipod and tri pod. When I am still hunting and in areas where trees are spaced out farther apart, I use mine. I have two of the tri pods that are different lengths. One for sitting on ground and one for chair or sitting on something and standing. One of these is just what you might need. Look them up oneshot. Using one will be safer for you, safer for your neighbors or anyone around you but not so safe for the squirrels.
  7. We are finally getting them to turn! Sooooo goood.
  8. It's like every other fish and what people like. Lots of folks say that about Bass, White bass, catfish etc.,etc.,etc. I never go one someone else says. We all taste things different. You might like it, Jeff.
  9. I have eaten them years ago. They are good if you like trout. Eat the same things trout eat. They are in the salmonoid family.
  10. I planned ahead and did as directions said. When putting in starts you apply as directed. Then you can apply again later. I never had to.
  11. Been using this last three years. Solved my problem with blossom end rot.

    What's Cooking?

Think I will contribute today, Going to start with a new to us cooking vessel. A Griswold #7 slant Dutch oven. Neat little thing compared to the #8. The slant logo is circa 1910. The lid is the straight logo circa 1920 to 1950. Not sure why the mismatch but not bothered by that it's a nice set-in perfect shape. Ok back to the meal. Going to fry some of the bluegill fillets we caught on the fly. video000002.mp4 While that was going on we has Trager fries going and they will be eaten with chipotle ketchup. Such a nice day all was cooked outside. Tomatoes from the garden rounded things off.
  16. Devan, We have caught many but think small flies and nymphs. Yes, we have, and you can catch on hoppers and medium to larger flies, but their mouth is small. when you get on them it is fun. We don't discriminate and if we catch them, we are happy. Whitefish are a good indicator of clean water.
  17. @Ham Bless your heart. Cliff Creek Wyoming. A great place to catch a native finespotnt.😁 Sometimes you get a surprise.
  18. I thought all this time he was from California and last name was Newsome. Boy I was wrong! thanks for clearing this up Ness!
  19. Exactly what we try to do, very well said for those who don't know.
  20. Yes, sir and the uglier the better they will be. All this talk about homegrown has me out this afternoon grazing on cherry tomatoes. Right off the plants wiped on shirt and as warm as the day. Love it!
  21. We had a rural water bill over sixty bucks. I can hear it now could have bought lots of tomatoes for that price. I will add Pat has lots of flowers we water and the little koi water garden pond. I also have been watering some young trees. All this and daily household use. This drought we are having is awful.
  22. I agree with you 100 percent on this one.
  23. We have had caprese already this season. Mighty fine eating!
  24. We enjoy it, Glen. There are things I am sure some of the rest of us don't understand too. Why some smoke tobacco? Because they enjoy it or is it addiction? I bet if some of our do it ourselves on here did want to partake we would grow our own and process it without all the chemical additives. I might add gardening can be a vice or addiction.
