  3. The term "Original" Warts seem to be misleading at best. Kinda like corporate neighborhood markets.
  4. I've always used them in clear lakes like Ouchita in and around grass beds or brush piles.
  5. S0metimes, not often, when grubs are not doing the job turning the grubs sideways has produced fish. I have know idea why and I have caught very few fish starting with a grub fished sideways.
  6. I may be mixing apples and organs but didn't Columbia MO a while back start using a wetland as the final filter in there sewage treatment and didn't that produce cleaner water than the chemical treatments/filters they had used previously. Apples and ORANGES
  7. Phil, What was pulling that trailer?
  8. I got an e-mail from Stillwater Resort deep discounts on motel rooms and condos April 1 to May 31. We have stayed there in the past and are not planning to this year so of course their rates are lower than I ever saw them. It's one of the nicest places I have stayed for a vacation. Its on Indian Point down the road from Silver Dollar City......... might be a drawback.
  9. Mike Webb put me on that color a couple of years ago and it catches fish. the 4' size is good in the upper James River almost but not quite as good as the 3" Chartruse Gulp Alive minnow
  10. I think Arkansas when I lived there required insurance if you had over 50hp motor. I was required to have insurance even on my 40hp boat by the fishing club I belonged to so I could fish the tournaments I still carry it mainly it covers towing for the trailer and the truck and protects me if my equipment is destroyed in a accident or stolen. I have scene people put their trailer and pick up in the lake when launching and another guy back his boat and trailer into another guys bot and trailer coming out of the lake...........of course that was when I lived in Arkansas. I shopped around and Progressive Ins gave me the best rate and now my boat is so old that the rate is so low I haven't checked other companies in a while and I've never had a claim so I can't comment on their service
  11. I like the BPS smoke copper and red flake on a Chompers Rock Walker Jig
  12. .............and the COGARS
  13. Everybody and their brother..........and their cousins
  14. I filled the bird feeders.......
  15. I darn near fell out of my chair laughing............Brings back memories.....My beagle and rotten eggs from an abandoned nest
  16. We have our taxes done by a CPA and I believe both of our pensions qualify and my brides pension is from the Arkansas Library System so I think you will be OK as long as you don't excede the income limit. But I would still talk to the revenue dept to make sure......
  17. I buy a lot on line when I know what I wan't. The reason I suggested the fly shop was becauseTSmith was wanting to start tying and the fly shop is what 25 miles from Mashfield and there will be a chance for some hands on learning.
  18. Thursday it was 71 friday 81 sat 65 so what
  19. Only thing I would add might be a little chartruse dye added to the fluke and I would prefer 3" power grubs. Gavin and Chief, I floated the Big Piney, Black and Castor for years before someone explained to me you weren't suppose to turn the canoe over
  20. I would check out Plateau Fly shop on S Campbell if I were you. They are having a fly a thon this friday and saturday and have other events coming up with Brian "senior moment, I can't his last name" scheduled later. I will say this again the best place to get advice about fly fishing and tying is in your local fly shop on a dead of winter cold rainy weekend afternoon because all fly tyers (except for me, of course), are at least a little nuts and other tyers are the only people who want to hang out with them. While you are there pick up a copy of "Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing" by the Wilsons It has a section with flyrecipies for smallmoth with some of Dave Whilock's patterns. They can also show you the vices that they use to tie with. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FLY SHOP Brian Wise March 26 4to 8PM
  21. Jack, anybody who says you need a baitcast reel is nuts. T Tom Mann, Billy Westmorland and Woo Daves 2000 Bassmaster classic winner fished a majority of the time if not all the time with a spinning rod and reel. I think fishing crankbaits and spinner baits you are better off fishing baitcasting reels. I also don't believe you need to spendhundereds of dollars on a rod and reel if you are if you are not a guide or a tournament fisherman we don't put the wear on a reel that they do. Of course, I know the experts will tell me I'm wrong but I never had any trouble catching fish on a big O or Jitter Bug fished with a Shakesphere or Fenwick rod on my Ambassadeur 5000 reel and stren line.
  22. Dave has been one of the pros at BPS tuesday night seminars for at least the last 3 years along with Doc Seger, Kelley Powers,Rick Flint, Ricky Clemens etc. They also have attendance prizes I have been Lucky enough to win A BPS cranking Stick ,a Strike King Red Eye spinnerbait kit, Chompers Shakey Worm kit and a pack of Chompers Webb Tail spoons and whenever Mike Webb apears he usualy hands out O 'Rielly caps or T shirts. They are starting up again in April but I don't think they have set the date yet.
  23. I think mine is called American Angler and I bought it inthe mid 90's. Before that it was the Wood Handle Rapala before that it was a knife my Uncle Charles left me when he passed away in the 60's he was a butcher and he had a fileting knife he had built himself. I still miss him he knew more about fishin, baseball and life than anyone I ever met.
  24. When I was laid up, taking chemo in 1998, I failed misserably trying to play the harmonica. It was fun and it helped me get through a rough patch and for a while I could almost play along with Muddy or The Wolf recordings but I Know I will never be a Charlie Musselwhite just like I'll never be a Buddy Miller with a guitar.
  25. Brings you know so much more than the I do maybe you can explain the Muir Glacier. I'm waiting to be enlightened.
