  1. Flat at the bridge looks like the inside of a butterfinger candy bar. James actually looks clearer than the last time I was down there. Water temps on my birds were 74° to 77°.
  2. Jeff joined me this morning. We started around 06:00 and fished until 12:15. We covered a lot of water and threw a lot of baits. We never really could pattern them. It seemed like there was one every half mile no matter what kind of bank. The closest we came was points but not many of them. As best as I remember swim baits and jigs were what caught fish. We hoped for a top water bite but only had 1 on a spook. Jeff whipped me again. I had 3 non keepers. He had 6 bass including a 4# lmb and a keeper mean mouth and a keeper greenie. He also had 2 keeper crappie and a flathead.
  3. Thanks. If we get the predicted rain tonight I bet it may be stained all over. Even the big coves and creeks may be murky. I guess we will find out in the morning.
  4. So it is notarized, the important thing is the contents of the lease.
  5. Every aspect of the situation is based on the lease agreement. If you have nothing in writing then you have nothing. It appears that you need a good attorney.
  6. Good fish. I’ve never had one.
  7. With the recent rains I’m betting the water is going to have that James River “tint” for a ways. Anyone been down to where it clears some, Rail Hollow, Buttermilk, Hide Away?

    Compost Bin?

When I had a large garden my compost bin was 8x8 landscape timbers alternating so air could get in. I put everything except corn stalks in it. Like Glenn I never turned it. Once a year I dug down to the composted material and spread it on the garden.

    Fans?

Most around here have exhaust fans at the end of the building. If you go with ceiling fans, you want to be sure to get ones designed for outdoor use or the blades will draw moisture and droop.
  10. Diatomaceous earth is what I use for ants. It may work for ticks.
  11. Jeff joined me this morning. It looked like it was going to be a good one. Bass were hitting buzz and spinner baits. But that soon ended. We made it up to Carr’s and only had about a dozen with maybe two or three keepers. I was sure that I had gone the wrong way so I fired up and headed to Piney. We only got one more down there before we gave up.
  12. My neighbor and I launched at 08:30 and tried around some points. We had fish swirl at, splash behind and follow baits right to the boat. There was a stiff East wind and a blue bird sky. I moved to the West side and fished windy banks. We caught 23 bass and 1 crappie. They were all on plastic (Elaztech baits and Keitech baits. We had 9 keeper bass and 1 keeper crappie. The fish liked rocks today. ZinkerZ was best.
  13. Good for you Jeff. I figured you were out there somewhere. I’m wishin I were fishin instead of working in the yard and garden.
  14. I bet everyone who had a boat and the day off was on the lake today. Me I planted garden. Good goin there Cheese.
  15. We found prespawn smallmouth on Beaver yesterday with low 60s water temps. I had one spot that was egg laden. I’m not sure what is going on.
  16. It’s been a while since I’ve run it but I’m guessing 10-12 miles. Personally I would haul it around to Campbell Point so I wouldn’t have to worry about beaching it.
  17. It was for sure cool this morning but still a great time. I got to meet another forum member today. Thanks for the trip Jeff.
  18. With today’s good equipment I think we feel stuff that used to go unnoticed.
  19. We filled 3 freezers with our beef. Maybe she has a roadside meat market.
  20. Can you see that from your house?
  21. Wow that’s a bucket full.
  22. Jeff fished with me today. We went to lots of places (Woolly, Carney, Buzzard, Piney, School House) just to name a few. We even hit some main lake banks and points. There really was no rhyme or reason as to where the fish were located. Most of the fish came pretty shallow and in the morning. Early on I had a 4# green fish on a homemade chartreuse swim bait. We threw top waters, wake baits, and shaky. The bait of the day was the little guy Mr. Ned. We wound up with 30 bass with only 4 keepers.
  23. Nope 1/4 the price of a tank of fuel but still a lot of green backs.
  24. Wow at $60 a pop I would be too nervous to throw one.
  25. On my Champion they were glassed in. When replaced it was done at a glass shop because they had to be ground out and replacements glassed back in and recarpeted.
