  1. I has been so hard for me that I have been fishing the scummy water up the James on the rock. Tomorrow morning I plan to make my monthly humbler to Hartley. I am going to try buzzers early then spinnerbaits, bladed jigs and square bills before I settle into jigs and plastic.
  2. Thanks. That’s an amazing pic. We only have 4 and they never drink together. They just chase each other around the back yard.
  3. It was tough today. I tried out the Jadesjigs wide gap. It seems to be more snag free than my regular Ned heads. The bad news is the fish weren’t in the mood for the little guy. Neither did they want a chatter bait. Shaky was all that produced today. Several colors worked but New Money was best. I never had a bite anywhere near a point. I fished mostly from Doty’s to Carr’s. The fish were scattered. I covered a lot of water. I wound up catching 10 with 4 nice greenies to 4#. The water was from 79° to 82°.
  4. Dutch

    Arkansas!

I watched it and liked it.
  5. I received my order from Jadesjigs today. I’ll be trying them out on Monday.
  6. The little town where our farm is, bought a police car and advertised for a chief….no pay just good experience. Elvis crawled out of the cemetery and took the job. He was a top notch rip snorting go getter until he totaled the police car. He didn’t have to resign.
  7. I have one bait casting setup for Ned. It is a Gloomis bronze back ml with a Shimano 70 xg and 6# fluorocarbon line. 3/32 is as light as I can go with it. I don’t have any mediums that would work with a Ned.
  8. bobby I am so old that I remember stopping at the gate going into the cane bottom and putting a dollar in the coffee can that was nailed to the gate post.
  9. I also modified one of mine for a wg. I fish a lot in the upper James where trees wash down get hung up and sink. It is real narly in the most productive parts. Anything on or near the bottom has a very short life expectancy. Jigs are good when they will hit them. When they won’t shaky is next in line, but sometimes they just want the little guy. When Ned is the ticket I have 5 Ned setups and fish them till all are empty. I just hate to spot lock and do a lot of retying.
  10. It came from the name of the people who owned the land, like Blunk’s and Asher’s. Down stream from Walnut Spring around the bend there is an old boat ramp on the left. From there down the straight stretch to the next bend is what we have always called Carr’s.
  11. I have ordered some of Jadesjigs with the ewg hook. That should give me a chance to see if I want to make my own later.
  12. You need a trip planner.
  13. What little deep bite I had went away so I went up the James today. All the way to Carr’s. We had a lot of action on Ned and shaky. We missed several, lost some and boated 23. Most were spots but some skinny green fish were long enough to be keepers. Next trip is up white for me.
  14. Yeah I have used his jigs. I have some ewgs coming from Jades Jigs. That will let me know if I want to buy my own mold.
  15. Check your pm.
  16. It is the regular non mega 360. I’ve had it about two years. However the original puck leaked and Humminbird replaced it with a new one so it is actually about a year old. As for compatibility I can’t say because I don’t know what all works with a 360. I imagine you could look your unit up on the Humminbird site to see if 360 works with it.
  17. Ok thanks.
  18. So if you hate mountains and she likes oceans why that trip?
  19. Is that some kind of algae in the first picture?
  20. Maybe later. All I am trying to do right now is imitate a Ned with a wide gap hook. I made a threader put the bullet sinker on my 6# line and pulled 6 strands of living rubber through it to keep it in place.
  21. I got to thinking about experimenting without having to buy and wait for delivery of some ewg Ned heads so I dug around and came up with some 1/0 wg worm hooks. I made a sort of Ned rig. I am going to try it out tomorrow morning.
  22. I’m interested in any brand and how they are doing. DO-IT mold company has teamed up with Victory hooks. They have made a mold and Victory has the hooks. They are behind on production and I have time to do some research to see how that wide gap is functioning before I decide if or not to buy it. As far as I can find out only Victory hooks fit and it is projected that November will be the delivery time.
  23. I love Colorado. It is prettier than Wyoming and Montana to me. We go there a lot. The Amtrack across the Rockys is great. You should drive the Million Dollar highway from Silverton to Uray. It is a beautiful drive even a bit scary in places but worth every minute.
  24. That’s way too labor intensive for me. I just choose what ever vinyl covered cable I want and mold it into the jig head.
  25. So it looks like my answer is that none of you have used them yet.
