  1. We found a mix on the ones we caught yesterday on Beaver. Some were large enough to surely be females with flat bellies and some still had bellies full of eggs.
  2. Thanks. I want to go tomorrow and if it is windy Cape is up to bat.
  3. It was an epic day as far as I am concerned. I wish that lake were closer to me. Thanks for a memorable trip.
  4. Cheese is it nasty at Cape?
  5. We’ve had 5 here in Republic with more on the horizon.
  6. Dutch

    Wow

  7. Vernon did your area get hit with all of that bad weather last night?
  8. That stands to reason since he was evidently at Precious Moments.
  9. https://pommedeterre.uslakes.info/Level/
  10. We have had 3.75” so far today. The local creek is out of its banks and there is water oner the road north of Clever.
  11. At that age I am not sure how long you are going to keep her interested. When my daughter was that age about 30 minutes was tops. Then on to treats, drinks, etc. Have you considered a Rooster Tail, Beetle Spin or Road Runner for her.
  12. We fished at night and did well. However, when we quit the day jobs we learned to day fish. It helped that there were 6 of us and at least one was there every day in January, February and March. We were able to keep on top of them and know the best bait color.
  13. It’s awfully late for whites to still be around Beaver Creek. When we fished it a lot they were usually gone by the first of April. We would move to the James up around Rolly Blunk’s before heading to Stockton.
  14. We used to see that a lot and at the time it was said to be tannic acid but I have no way of knowing if that is the case. The algae bloom is as good as anything. All I know is that end of the lake is nasty red/brown with low visibility.
  15. Jeff and I met at 06:30 in the fog. Most every spot on the lot was full (derby). We idled for a mile or so before we started fishing. The bite was slow. We really had to work for the fish. The water was 64-66° and nasty red/brown. We managed 34 mostly lmb with 6 keepers. Ned was still the best bait but shaky produced some. There were boats everywhere. The lot was nearly full at 06:30. The regular Wednesday tournament was today but I saw license plates from KS, OK and TX in the lot. We went into Piney for a while and shared it with 7 other rigs. I will say no one crowded us or cut us off all day long wherever we were. I noticed that a 50 boat tournament will be there tomorrow. Good luck with parking.
  16. That was one of my bigger crappie. I didn’t measure it but I did weigh it. It was just over 2# on my Boca Grips. It came on the Ned.
  17. I also wait for May because I have lost a bunch of warm season crops to frost.
  18. That was a pretty good bite with some nice fish. I tried the wake bait but nothing hit it in that dingy water. It sounds like somewhat of a cool down is coming.
  19. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to take my wife out in the boat. We both had today empty so we went to Cape for a while. We didn’t get there till around 9 so the lot was nearly full. There was a boat on the first two places I wanted to fish so I went to number three. It was a good move. I had 7 bass with 6 keepers on that stretch. On the next 2 spots there were boats so we went on. By 11:00 I had 14 with 8 keepers. In the next 3 hours I had 3 fish with one of them being a keeper. So I finished with 17 bass with 9 of them keepers. I also had 1 crappie. Everything was on a Ned with most coming on the mud bug TRD.
  20. It was a very good trip with lots of fish. Thanks for the trip Jeff. I’m always glad to fish the Big M area. It is a different world up that way compared to Cape Fair. Visibility was from 4 to 10’ depending on where we were while last time Cape Fair was maybe 18”. The fish hold in different kinds of locations in the clearer water. It also helps to have a good guide.
  21. I directed him over to this site. Will some of you trout gurus give this guy some good tips please. Thanks in advance.
  22. Jeff met me this morning. We fished from 7-1. The water near muddy with maybe two feet visibility in the clearer places. The temp ranged from 56-59°. We caught 27 bass most of which were lmb with maybe 5 spots. They were quality fish with many keepers. Ned was the best bait with mud minnow leading the way.
  23. If I were going bank fishing, it would be on the East side of the river at the CC bridge to the North.
  24. I’ve been catching largemouth. We had 34 with 7 keepers Friday but you couldn’t get them from the bank. I saw some crappie being caught over deep water. I also saw a walleye guy who was frustrated and trying a bunch of unsuccessful tactics.
  25. I imagine that it is open. Call the COE office in Stockton and ask them to be sure.
