  2. Happy Birthday! Ya got almost a month on me, you old guy!
  3. Same here. Also saw a water snake warming up on the rocks
  4. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!
  5. Solid!!! Great job!
  6. If my temp guage was working correctly, on Saturday I was seeing 54 degrees on the Big Niangua! Crappie were on fire! Very few places did I not catch fish. Lot of 9-10" fish. Only 1 over 11" on Saturday. Sunday morning it was quite cooler, but the fish were still on fire. Found quite a few 11 and 12's, plus one just under 14. I stuck with Blue Ice baby shad, Saturday 32nd oz jig head, Sunday 16th oz. Up under swim docks and also brush piles in 10-14 fow. Caught them anywhere between 2 and 8' down. Lots of boats on the water. Must have been good for bassers. Everyone I talked to said they had caught a decent amount, and had some solid keepers. But water temp at 54 degrees blew my mind for 3rd week of Feb. (Sunday I found it to be 50 degree water)
  7. Not completely sure, but I think you have the right to slip into someones stall in inclement weather. Thought I heard that somewhere.
  8. love it!
  9. Getting back to batteries, like others have said, do your wallet a favor and get, while maybe not the cheapest, but a good value battery. I usually buy voyagers because I can get them thru work. But, take care of them and they'll take care of you. My buddy believes in the gel-type, pays between 2 and 3 hundred bucks each. I pay about that much for all three of my batteries. And they last no longer than my cheapies! I can usually see a difference on my trolling motor batteries in the 4th year. I've gotten 7 or 8 years out of my starter battery. Do the math!
  10. Don't they have a warning to stay away from the Meremac from Fenton down?
  11. Went out today, fishing was good catching was not so good. Noticed brush piles took a beating. 4 of seven that I regularly fish had completely vanished. A couple of those I've fished for many years. So I guess I'll be busy sinking some wood over the next couple months. Seemed like the ones on the ledges took the most abuse. Guess I'll be busy over the next month or two.
  12. RIP Detective Fish. 94 years was a good run!
  13. Looks like they're dropping the lake now. Down about a foot since the weekend.
  14. Congrats on your new ride. Might just check out buying new seats all together. Great size for our lakes around St. Louis. Used to fish Rend on occasion, always had decent success. Lots of places to go on the east side within about an hours drive.
  15. Very clear on the Big Niangua arm, has that Winter Green Hue to it. I didn't get out at all this weekend. Would have liked to, but not feeling my best. Saturday would have been nice, a little wind, but not much. Sunday was fairly windy. Did see some bassboats going up and down the lake. A friend of mine did pretty well shooting docks for crappie on Saturday. Didn't hear anything from Sunday. Appears they started dropping the lake a little bit this weekend. Don't know where they are going with it, the Osage looks full.

  17. So, I read an article on Lake News Online about raising the length limit on Crappie from 9" to 10". Is this something in the works with MDC, or is this just idle chit-chat because they don't really have much "outdoors" news to write about this time of the year?
  18. I have one of the new ugly sticks that I use for one of my backups, but just doesn't perform like my main stick. I do think it's a great value for casting, in fact I own a couple! For shooting, when I load it up, I really lose accuracy compared with my other Rod.
  19. Anyone have an opinion or reviews of Ozark Rod Company's 6 or 7 ft dock shooting rod?
  20. I can somewhat agree with you. White bass, ducks, geese, Lake Trout, local rainbow trout....... Definitely not my favorite, and don't care if I ever taste them again. Disagree with Salmon. Personally, up there close to the top (but not the top).. As far as trout go, I remember having some for the first time years ago that were caught at one of our trout parks, and I thought .... bleeeech! But I've had some from the northwest, cooked the same way that was tasty! Went back to local trout park fish and .... bleeeech! Don't know why such a big difference! The only way to eat ducks and geese, throw them all together in a sausage pile and cut it 10% duck/goose with anything else. Had a friend make jerky one time... awful.
  21. No electric on my dock. I can get my boat down, just can't lift it back up. Friend of mine called minutes ago, said nice crappie being caught under docks close to the hwy 5 bridge over the big niangua. I haven't seen a boat around this neck of the woods.
  22. I prefer the big crappie pics, but man there were some great fish caught last year. Congrats everyone. I really didn't have one I could post. Maybe 2016!
  23. So, a question for you guys that have been there a long time. With all the water in the lake and Truman completely full, will there be much of a drawdown, like there has been in the past? It's seems like it takes a while to bring Truman down to normal pool. Or at least it did after the July flood.
  24. Anybody drive by the dam side of 35 on hwy 64? It looked like niagra falls coming down those rocks. Quite a sight.
