I find myself enjoying and creating a higher quality of food than when I was younger. I'm also a gourmet coffee freak to the point that I use the Melitta pour over method...which takes forever, BTW, But it tastes so darn good. I guess my fishing has evolved the same way, I enjoy going after larger fish, I'm not satisfied with little fish, that's just me...catching little fish is like drinking coffee from a BP gas station.

I'm not sure about your dock, but I catch many trout from the bank at Taneycomo on jerk baits when they're generating, I'm not sure of the what's the difference

Ha! No a craw is a jig in my book. ive seen nothing but big fish caught on other baits and was wondering. Anyway, maybe there is a reluctance by die-hard trout guys to use trebles.

Jerkbait, crankbait, Rapala countdown minnow is a good all around for all conditions/depth, just pick your size...especially when generating strong... spoon, silver buddy/cicada plastic swimbait

Pretty much how I feel Al. I get to fish maybe 7-10 times a year. I will say one thing in our defense (the guys who don't fish the river tourneys). It's kind of an unspoken fact that fish get relocated to certain spots before river tourneys. The fish pretty much stay there until they get moved again. If you are the mover, you have an obvious advantage. If you aren't the mover, the only way to take advantage of the situation, is to ramp camp at the last weigh in spot. I'm still amazed by that river tagging study...50% of the fish tagged were caught in the first few weeks. So don't be so hard on yourself!??

We went through the same thought process. The craws stay in perfect shape if kept in our packaging, but deform if stored in a bag long term. We decided to stick with the clam shells.
