Please clarify the 3 hooks rule. One could interpret that as not being able to use a pointer jerk bait with 9 hooks?

Really needs to be defined better.

The pointer only has 3 hooks(trebles) with 9 hook points.

I guess they figure you can realistically only catch one fish per hook, treble or not?

Exactly. A treble hook is one hook, not 3...

I made my own umbrella rig which only lasted about 15 minutes before I managed to break it off. Glad I paid $25 for materials to make my own and not the $25 for one rig. Good to see that the bait works with only 3 hooks I will have to give it another shot. The rig is definitely something else to cast and retrieve. Here is a pic of what my first rig looked like.

I bet it was cumbersome with those Storm swimbaits. They are not light.

It took 45 pages of reading to get past the 33 hooks/50 hooks(Miss. River)regarding trotlines, etc....but for "pole and line"...

Pole and Line: Fishing methods using tackle normally held in the hand,

such as a cane pole, casting rod, spinning rod or fly rod, or ice fishing tackle

commonly known as a tip-up, to which not more than 3 hooks with bait or

lures are attached. Does not include snagging, snaring, grabbing, trotlines,

juglines or other tackle normally attached in a fixed position.

L I B learn sumpin' ever day. Thanks a bunch.

Hey gitnby, what do you think about only using the blades instead of the entire spinner bait. That will still give you the flash and lighten up the rig a little.

Funny you should mention that!

I tried it yesterday, and it was much easier to cast.

Fished it with and without the spinnerbait yesterday from 1-4:30PM.

Not one hit!

One fish on a FB jig, and that was it.

Where did my fish go?

Tried chunk rock, bluff ends and some long points.

I am trying my best to not buy one of these rigs. But the more stories I hear the harder it is becoming. I know they are fish "stories" but still. Its awful tempting.

I tried not to buy one too, seemed like everywhere I looked on Table Rock and Beaver last week every boat I saw had at least one guy throwing it. Finally bought one.... Great decision on my part. Had best day in two years on the Rock throwing that stupid looking thing. Now I gotta start working out just so I can throw it more than 10 times without having to sit down and rest!
